Welcome to our new home... Stamps R Us!!! Although we are all new to blogging between us we have many years of experience stamping which makes for lots of fun sharing ideas. To keep each other inspired our goal is to post at least once a week as well as to visit each other and leave comments weekly. Monthly we will take turns hosting a challenge... it may be whatever inspires you... sketches, color combinations, techniques, themes, etc. Feel free to share whatever motivates you!!! To get to know each other better and to keep the group size manageable we are limiting the group to 10 members.
The group is open to anyone new to blogging! If you are interested in joining our group please reply to this message with your first name and blog URL. You are officially a part of the group when your name has been added to the list. To be part of the group we ask that you add a blog list or link list gadget on your blog sidebar with links to the other members blogs.
To kick off our first monthly challenge I've decided to share what inspires me the most... sketch challenges!!! I love sketches because they allow me to get to the fun faster... yes, stamping and creating!!! This months challenge is to make a card, or two, or three... with the following sketch (MTSC50) by the fabulous Mercy Kerin:
Simply post your creation on your blog for Stamps R Us to see and for extra inspiration I challenge you to link your creation to Mercy's blog for all to see!!!
Hi everyone! I was reading your other thread and then I saw the link to this one. If there's still room, I'd love to join you. I've only been blogging for a few months.
I joined another group of ladies who would visit blogs daily and leave comments, but the group became too large and it took me hours to visit and post on everyone's blog, so I like that you are limiting this and it will be a small group, plus it gives us a chance to get to know eachother
Welcome Patty! I just briefly looked at your blog and loved it - will check in out more in detail later this morning. And will add you to my sidebar, etc...........
Hi ladies and thank you so much for the warm welcome
I had one quick question though, I'm not quite sure what you all mean when you say....about adding me to your side bar. Do you mean that I should be following your blogs? I tried to look at some of your blogs for examples, but I couldn't figure it out.
Welcome Patty, love to have you.I will be adding you to my Blog list. And I believe the ladies are talking about the sidebar on your blog.If you go to one of the blogs. For example mine is on the left hand side and is titled Stamps R US. I have all the members listed there.Hope that helps
Patty, I listed everyone in this group under "blogs I follow". I also added myself as a "follower" to everyone's blog - (the ones that had that option).
I tend to take short cuts when I say things, sorry about that! To add the group to your sidebar we mean for you to add a gadget called a blog list or a link list. Here are a couple links with instructions:
I have good news to share... both Nancy and Sara replied today that they are still planning to be part of the group. Once they update their blog and confirm back we will add them to the list.
Thank you ladies for your help. I think I got it now I'll be back in a bit and I'll follow the blogs that have that option and I'll add everyone to my side bar (now that I know what that is....LOL).
I'm usually online once the kids and my husband are in bed.
Marilyn has a lot going on right now so she won't be joining the blog group at this time. She is busy getting ready for her trip to Ireland (perhaps we could all sneak along in her luggage... think she would notice!) So we still have room for more if anyone is interested!
OMG Carrie... gorgeous cards and I love the calendar!!! Welcome to Stamps R Us. We would love to have you join our group! Let me know when you've added a link or blog list to your sidebar and I'll add you to the list above!!! We are excited to check out what you've been working on!
I noticed that a lot of you have your comments set to be approved...how do you do that and do you get emails of comments when you do that? Can you delete a comment someone has made on your blog?
Carrie, I don't get emails when someone posts a comment and I'm not sure how to delete a comment but I've seen settings for comments in my layout tab. Somewhere I read to have the word verification to avoid solicitations.

Thanks Karen, I think I found it. I guess I need to look at more of those settings tabs LOL
Carrie, I've added you to my sidebar........Welcome aboard! Also checked out your blog and it's wonderful!!!!!!!
Thanks Lynn I love your snoopy card! Your blog is great!
When someone follows on your blog what happens? Do they get emails or something? One of my friends who is following me said she isn't getting emails when I update...is that something she needs to fix on her end or on mine?

I'm almost positive that once a comment is published it can not be deleted. HTH

Welcome, I'll add you to my sidebar and I'm off to check out your blog
I have it set up so that my comments need to be approved. I did this because I have received some not so nice comments here in my splitcoast gallery and I didn't want that happening on my blog. I'm so glad I did this because shortly after I applied the approval setting I started receiving spam comments.

Thanks for the input Patty, I will have to change my settings then. Do you allow only those registered to comment or do you have it set to anyone?
When I "follow" a blog, I never get e-mails? Do I need to do something to change that? If I go to my Blogger Dashboard, I can see where everyone updated and look it up that way, but I don't get any e-mails.
Patty, I checked out the free digi stamp site you listed. They have alot of freebies! Could you PLEASE tell me though how you make them smaller? Thanks
Just posted the challenge on my blog. I even linked it over at Mercy's. This was my first ever. What fun.
Ok so once we make a card with that sketch we just post it to our blog and label it stamps r us challenge? I'm soooo sorry for asking so many questions. How did you copy the sketch to your blog?

I'm not exactly how the correct way to resize the images is, but I can tell you how I do it. I'll insert the image into my microosoft word document and then I click my mouse once over the image and a box will appear with some little circles and square around it. Then using my mouse I hover over those circles & squares and my curse will turn into an arrow. Using that arrow I resize the images however I wanted.
I hope this helps....maybe someone else can help you better.
I will have to update my comment settings as well. I didn't think that anyone would consider leaving not so nice comments!
For the challenge... you may title and label your post whatever you like, doesn't have to be titled Stamps R Us unless you would like it to.
To include a photo of the sketch in my post I usually right click on the sketch on Mercy's site and save the picture to a folder on my computer then when I'm creating my post I add a photo in blogger and select the sketch to upload. I resize it to small and position it to the left. It is up to each of you if you want to include a photo of the sketch in your post or if you would rather just have a photo of your card. It is nice to at least mention in your post that the card was inspired by Mercy's sketch to give her credit for using the sketch.
Way to go Kellie!!! I will visit everyone tonight and leave lots of love!!! We are going out of town for the weekend so I printed off the sketch last night and will pack some supplies to take with. I should have time on Saturday to work on the challenge.
P.S. I haven't heard any more from Nancy but Sara left a message saying she would update her blog this weekend so watch for that. I won't be able to update until I get back Sunday night.

Well... until later!
I did the challenge. I didn't link to Mercy's sketch but I did put a link in to Kellie's page with the sketch...that was pretty easy surprisingly LOL Thanks again for all your help, I really appreciate it....I'm off to bake some cookies
