Hey, are we still going to do a getting to know you questionnaire?
Have many questions been sent it?
I can't think of any myself, but it would be nice to do them and get to know everyone better.
No questionnaire yet!!

OH good idea! I can help out if you need some, Molly!
I am checking in while at work - very unusual for me - but i haven't been able to get into splitcoast - so I just want to see what is up. What are the choices for the group names that we are supposed to vote on? I think I missed it. I have been doing a little research at night to see if Prisma Markers are safe for my scrapbook. do any of you use them in scrapbooks/
just checking in - DD's teacher conferences are tonight and I am a little nervous!
I know she is a handful, I just hope that everything is still going OK in school :0)

I have received no questions so far. I will be putting it out this weekend with the new name of the group! Just a couple more votes! It is down to two!

Hi ladies......just checking in to say hi again and let everyone know I am now a "follower" on your blog!!! HOPEFULLY I haven't left anyone out....if so, let me know.
Now, I need you opinion on something...I'm thinking about "biting the bullet" and getting some Copics....(Yikes) Are these really going to be worth the money I'm going to be spending on them or not?
Thanks.....................Lynn Hayes

I actually just bought my first 3 Copic markers last week. I am a die hard Papertrey Ink follower and she does some amazing cards using Copics. I used a Hobby Lobby Coupon for 40% off and bout 1 a day for 3 days...I have seen a few website with great prices for Copics...I did a few flowers with the Copics and I am totally impressed. This is a technique I have wanted to do for a long time and I was glad I finally bought a few to start. I use the chart on Papertrey (the colors match really well) to buy what I can locally...here is the link to the chart if you want to see it...http://www.papertreyink.com/files/Co...t_Version4.pdf
I got into copics a few months ago, after doing a lot of research so as not to waste my money and one thing I learned before I bought them, is to buy 3 to 4 of one color, for shading. Go over to Flourishes
they group the color groups together for you, that is how I bought mine. There is a serious learning curve to these. Here is the copic blog.
Now saying all of that, I started with prisma color pencils, and I still love them and use them also. This is from pencil

They are definitely worth the money, Lynn, especially if you own a lot of line images which need to be colored in.
Although my set of 36 is fairly small, I have probably over invested since I mostly do layered stamping which requires no coloring at all.
But I do love my Copic markers. As for blending of colors, I prefer to color patches of darker colors on an acrylic block and use a lighter colored marker to pick up bits of color for blending. It is very easy to control the amount of color in this way. Just clean up the block with a dampened Mr. Clean magic eraser sponge when done.

I LOVE my copics and have owned them for a couple of years. Yes, there is a steep learning curve that requires lots of practice but I found all the practice and testing colour combinations etc lots of fun. There is a huge amount of information online and even some great tutorials. I mainly watercoloured my stamps before Copics and so I had a fairly good understanding of shadows and colours before starting out with Copics. The other thing I love about my Copics is their ability to colour on just about anything! I've coloured on ribbon, buttons, brads, flowers, acrylic, metal, fabric just to name a few and it's been great to be able to colour embellishments to match the papers I'm using. The other thing I love to do is airbrush with them...I own Sketch Copics...you can also airbrush with the Originals but not the Ciaos. The Sketch and Original Copics are also refillable which will save money in the long run as you wont have to buy a new marker.
To start out I would suggest choosing a stamp you own that you would love to colour with Copics and choose the colours you would need to colour that stamp. That way once your Copics arrive you will be able to colour a whole stamp and if it's one you love you wont mind colouring it over and over again! You will want a light and dark shade of each colour needed and also the Colourless Blender...which doesn't blend...it sort of pushes the colour around which is great if you accidentally colour outside the lines you can 'push' the colour back into the stamp. The colourless Blender can also be used for creating different patterns on areas already coloured.
I could talk about Copics all day....I would be more than happy to answer any more questions you might have or help you find the answer. Copics are not for everyone...but if you love to colour stamps and love the blending look with shadows you will love Copics. They colour so beautifully and leave no colouring lines behind.
Thanks SO much for giving me your opinions on this - it really is helping alot. I guess it's just a pretty big decision on my part as far as chunking down the money for them - but I'm going to do it. I am going to research the sites yall listed. Thanks. Lynn
