Hi - I am so excited! I just came back from the MWR (morale, welfare recreation). The lady in charge has asked me to do a card making class! I have everything I need for the first class (provided there are not more people than I have paper) - I am going to send SU! an email ask for donations - but the other thing she asked was for cards for the troops. I have some here at my office that I distribute, but my inventory is extremely low and she would like a LOT of them for distribution at the MWR. She is going to have a work station set up for me to teach about once a week - and she wants cards set up there where people can come pick up whatever they would like.... SO - what I am asking you wonderful ladies for is some cards to take there for her. It will be an ongoing thing - so if you don't have time now - it is not a big rush. Let me know if anyone is interested in supporting the troops as well as the civilians over here at Camp FAllujah
It is early so forgive me if this is a less than intelligent question. Do you want blank cards? Like just the paper & envelope? Or do you want pre-decorated/stamped cards ready to send to the soldiers?

Stamped cards they can send. I have stuff for them to make cards and I will order more - some of them just want to pick out a card to send instead of making them...
Semper-Fi, count me in too! Anything for our troops! Marines will always have a special place in my heart! (I'm a Marines sister.) Please PM me with the details! P.S. I love your quote, isn't that the truth!!
Let me know when it is starting to get hot. I have a box of popcicles waiting to be sent.....
A little collected to send to the troops.
I will also be sending some cards soon.
;)
When you get the right address, could you PM me with it?
I have been doing the same thing for two years, I am afraid to say that i have not had any luck with it. When I first started, my accounting instructor made 200 cards on his computer for me. The first shipment I sent had 947 cards, I made 549 of them myself. The next shipment i sent had 850 cards, I made 600 of them... and so on. In Oct last year, I had arranged a card making event at the VFW up the street. I had prepared 1400 cards to be put together. I had advertised with flyers at stores library, college, & through friends. Not one person showed up for the event. I had already made 600 cards for the Christmas shipment, and now I had to get the other 1400 together. I enlisted very little help from others. I am sorry to say that I had not been able to get them all finished.
I have continued to make them on my own to send over, when time permits. The contact I have now will be coming home in June, he said not to send any cards after the middle of April.
I have been very discouraged. I am sorry for my sad story. If you PM me with an address, I will be more than happy to send cards to them. I can not get any addresses from the guards, they wont give them out. I still have some Christmas cards left that I wasnt able to get completed in time.
Sorry - I left the 5 out of the UIC line.... it is corrected now :( The long hours and hot sun are getting to me I think ;) Good thing I am about to go on R&R for a week
I'll see what I can come up with to send to your Marines. Dh was a Marine Reservist way back when. I have a co-worker serving in Baghdad now who's Army Reserve.
I know when I sent cards for Keri's SCS project, each card included an envelope and was in a ziploc or cello bag. It helped to keep them clean and nice looking.

Hey Sandy
I sent you a big box with about 200 cards a while ago, and I really hope it found it's way to you. There was also some snacks in there. but I can't remember exactly what they were. Twinkies, maybe? I sure do hope it didn't get lost along the way. Anyway, Ill try to send more cards your way too.
Thanks for all you do there!
I have a stack I'm sending, enclosed are cards for love, Easter, get well, and birthday(the birthday cards are for adults and children) hope it helps! God Bless You Sandy! Stay safe!
Hello, Sandy!! I got your card the other day, thanks! It came the same day I sent off almost 300 cards for you. Email me when you get them--I'm excited for them to arrive. I will continue to make more--it's so rewarding!
You can count me in to send you some cards!! I've always wanted a way to help out in some way and this I can do. I am from generations of Marine's. So do we just make generic Birthday, Mother's Day, etc. and they pick up what they want or do you hand them out? I think this is great!!
First of all - I want to apologize for not yet thanking those who have sent cards. I had a ton of mail when I got back from R&R - lots of it was boxes of cards from you great ladies at SCS! (And of course the stuff I order online due to my online shopping addiction - lol) Over half are gone already and I have not even made it to the MWR with them yet! News travels fast around here They are all organized by occasion in a couple of narrow boxes that are the perfect size for organizing cards and I will be taking them to the MWR tomorrow. I am going to keep a few here in my office because so many people come to me for cards now. With mothers day coming up - all the m'day cards went within a few days. The Marines and Soldiers really appreciate what you ladies do for them. They always tell me "Tell your friends thanks"
Things are slowing down for me here and I hope to be able to have time to start making some cards to contribute as well If you find yourself with extra cards- feel free to send them.
Now - that being said - I would LOVE for you guys to e-mail me pictures to put on my website - pictures of you guys making cards - or with the cards packaging them up to send out.. I have a link on my website that says "Support our Troops" And I currently do not have much on that link. So anyone who wants to contribute a picture can email me at [email protected]
Thanks again for supporting our wonderful Marines (and Soldiers too - we are getting more and more soldiers on this base)
What a great idea! I have picked two platoons from www.anysoldier.com, both near Bagdad, and send care packages and cards to them. Many are young kids..... that do not recieve any mail from home. There are stories that the mail is backed up and just stored and not delivered- I have not found that to be true at all- last month, I sent 4 boxes, and I rec'd 4 letters back! Last month, I included frisby's and nerf footballs from the dollar store- that really went over big. The guys are hot and bored in their spare time!
Thanks for serving in our military! I think lots of people take our freedom for granted!!!
SEMPER FI! Count me in.. I ALMOST became a Marine, but when I went for my physical for boot camp, they discovered in infection in my intestine, I didn't know I was sick, so I had to have surgery and well needless to sya after 9 months of PT training with my recruiter.. My dream came to an end, but I was in the best shape of my life. Now I support our MARINES.. OORAH! I will send out a package to you in the next week.. THanks for all that you are doing out there, regardless of what is going on in the world, our thoughts and prayers and support are with you all.
I feel terrible that my cards haven't gone out yet. They will hopefully get out Monday. I tried today, but I had a wrong number in the zip code THAT WAS MY FAULT! Duh!
