I've been wanting to ask this FOREVER....

What is BUMP?

I'm still thinking about going to this... I'm just not sure I could put together a Box that would be interesting enough for everyone...

"Bump" is just posting so that the original post will get "bumped" to the top, keeping it active.

I'm sure you could come up with a wonderful shoebox swap!!!

I hope you can make it!

Default SoCal Stamp Mania

Hi Joy...
I was looking through the discussions and saw this get together in SoCal. Then I saw your address and I couldnt believe it, I just moved from Orange off Palm and Batavia and now live in Anaheim. I'm pretty new to SCS and have only been to a few parties where there is a make and take

I dont know what a shoebox is. Could you tell me more about it? I feel comfortable asking this group because I know they are ready and willing to help.

If I can figure out what is required of me and I think I can do it, then I'd like to come.

I am not a demonstrator, just hooked on stamping.

If you'd prefer to email me privately and not take up space on the forum that would be fine.

Thanks for your help.

Nancy

Hi Nancy!

Not sure if Joy is on-line, but I'm happy to answer your question. Probably others with the same question. For the shoebox swap you design a project (card or whatever) that can be completed by someone in less than 20 minutes. You put all the suplies to complete the project (stamps, ink, adhesive, absolutely everything) in a shoebox. Put in enough for 6-8 people to complete the project. Use all SU products (unless it's something SU doesn't sell). Include a finished sample in the box also. Plus bring an extra sample for the display board. Everyone will complete projects from 6 different boxes. Does that make sense? Let me know if you have more questions.

Looking forward to meeting you!

I also wanted to add that shoebox swaps are great because you get hands on experience doing something that somebody else has come up with! You can learn new techniques this way because the person is there to ask.

They are a lot of fun! Hope to see you there!!

Ok, I'm back from my doctor's visit and it looks like they're going to induce early (this kid's big and so was his older sister)...so depending on when they decide to evict the baby, I may be able to come!

Count me as a definite "maybe". I wish I could commit to more...maybe after the next Dr. visit.

Nancy, all we require is that you're "hooked on stamping"! The shoebox swap will be a blast. Please feel free to e-mail me or post any questions you have on this post!

Default Hi Neighbor!

Hi Joy!

I was so shocked to see that someone on here lived in Orange that I checked yahoo maps and sure enough we lived about 2 minutes away from each other.

Are you a demonstrator? My daughter is and got me hooked! Now she is going to have a baby and doesnt want to continue demonstrating and wants me to become a demo under her. I dont know if I want the pressure of selling and making quota, but I dont want to lose our discounts either!

Anyway, I'm excited about your get together. I ask a lot of questions (I hope thats ok) because I'm excited to learn.

So now I will get to thinking about about my shoebox cards.

Hope to meet you soon. If you are having any get togethers before then, let me know.

Nancy

We've had several questions about the shoebox project. It is totaly ok to CASE something out of the Idea Book & Catalog (current or previous year) or from SCS (with proper credit given). No need to stress about this! It's gonna be fun! So don't let designing a project stop you. CASE away! :P

Also we do not have a regular swap planned, but are open to it if people want it. If you would like to have a swap at the event please let Joy know ASAP so we can give swappers an idea of how many are interested. I know some people (like me ) are behind on Christmas cards and don't have time to also do a swap for this event.

I know there are many, many of you out there thinking about coming. JUST DO IT!!!!! You'll be so glad you did! Print the registration form and mail it off to Joy today while you're right here at your computer and thinking of it!!!!! Can't wait to meet you!

We could do convention style swapping. For those that want to swap... great... for those who don't... no problem. It also helps those people who might do a swap if they only had to make 5 or 10 cards. Anyhow... just a thought.
I'm still trying to change some things around so I can come.

I like the idea of a convention type swap...
I'm not so crazy about the idea of a holiday swap 'cause that seems like a lot of work for cards we can really only show off to our customers during this time of year (for those of us who are demos)

Just my 2 cents worth

Great ideas Ladies!!! Maybe we should say it will be a Christmas Card swap (totally optional) and you can bring whatever number you want. Let Joy know when you register if you plan to swap and we will let you know on Nov. 2nd the maximum number of people swapping.

How about - swap using all SU stamps and cardstock (current and retired both ok)? Theme Winter/Christmas.

Sencie and Heather - really really hoping you'll both be able to make it!

Creative Diva - you and I were typing at the same time. If we just want to make it an open theme that is ok too.

Let's hear what everyone wants. We're totally open!

Only thing about a swap with sets that are retired is that if you see something you like, you can't get it
Sorry, don't mean to be the difficult one in the group. You guys decide what you want to do, I'll go with the flow

I think there shouldn't be a theme on the swap since we are already having a Christmas card contest.

Creative Diva - there's one in every bunch

Just teasin' you of course! Doesn't matter to me either way. I know some of the non-demos don't care so much about retired vs non-retired and like to just use what they have and like. That being said - all the swaps I host are always "current sets only" - so I'm with you on that one.

We JUST moved from SoCal to Georgia and I am sooooo bummed that I cannot go to this! I know exactly where most of the stores you gals mentioned are, I have even been to the fabric barn - I CANNOT believe I am going to miss this. Please, please please, post pictures of all the beautiful creations.

I really miss SoCal, going through the blues a little, never lived anywhere else. Georgia is REALLY different.

Have fun ladies and please post any and all pics when you are all done.

Mrs Diffey - I've always lived in SoCal too! I can't imagine being somewhere else! Do let us know when you are coming to visit. Maybe we should plan something really far in advance so everyone out of Calif can plan vacations here!

Oh man...you gals are tempting me. I saw Joy on Tuesday and I know you gals are having a great event. I know for my family's sake(i.e. my sanity), I need to pass since I have an event the night before and then two events plus my DD's birthday the next week. We'll have to plan another one. Have fun!

Yay Debbie!!! I'm taking that as a "YES"!!

Ladies - you will be so disapointed if you don't come and just have to look at the pictures we post from this event! Don't miss out!!!!!

Remember you'll get to make 6 shoebox projects + a polyshrink bracelet + Emily's box card. Plus there are the 2 contests (name tag and Christmas Card)...plus munchies...plus all the new friendships you'll form!
