IT really is cool...I am still amazed at how awesome you all are! Just remember to write in some of these great cards...we want our troops to know that we love and support them and that we see thier lives as vital to our freedoms that we so often take for granted! So write some notes in those cards...they love it when we do!

I was just thinking last night, "I wonder if we'll hear from any of the troops?". It was great reading the letter. I would love to see a picture of our "card shop" there!! I have been trying to make kid birthday cards for the troops to send home, but I also need to make some "thank you notes" again too! Keri, thanks for organizing such a great project! It makes me use my stamps more and for a great purpose no less!!

Irene, thanks for the offer but there is no charge for me to send them once I get them here...I just hand them over to the next plane going from Charleston Air Force Base to Iraq!!! That is the beauty of this awesome plan...and the cards get there really quickly too!!! But thanks for your thoughtfulness!!!

Default Cards for Soldiers

I am a new member and I will have my stamp club each make an extra card every time, so I can send them too. Where do I send them?
Last year I had all the demos and stampers in my erea give me their unused stampin stuff, paper, pens, ink......and I sent it all to an army transportation unit. They loved it and set up a stampin time in their chapel which kept many of the women busy during their free time, my friend said.

I was wondering if you had any way of sending cards to Afghanistan also. My nephew was in Iraq for 6 months, home for I think 8 mos. and now has been in Afghanistan since March. I think we should send some there to the troops as well, if we have a way of getting them there. I know I could mail them myself, but it takes at least 2 weeks for mail to get to them that way.

I would like to make some cards too. How do I get in on this? We are a military family stationned in Belgium so I can send them for free through our MPS (military postal system: APO to APO).

Hee! SHEro. So true. Glad I could smile after sniffling. I cannot fathom what the families, not to mention the soldiers, are enduring. I look forward to helping out as soon as I can. How you are doing this with a newborn and other kids is beyond me. More power to you!!!

I always knew that stampers were great, and this only confirms that.

My brother's girlfriend has a son in Iraq and he says that all they see on the news is the negative, what a great way to show them some much needed positive.

I have a bunch of old card fronts that have discontinued sets and I made them into real cards. Originally I had planned to send them to the Progeria Foundation, but I think I will pull a bunch out to send to our beloved troops. I have packaged them with an envelope and them put both of them inside one of our clear envelopes.

Don't forget the kids, this is a great way to get our kids involved. I'm sure the soldiers would love to get letters from them and it would be a great thing for the kids. These are real heros, not some basketball player or some rap star.

I think that I will do the same at my stamp camps. It works for SU and the RMH and it will work for us too!

You girls are awesome and it makes me proud to be a part of this great group. God Bless you all, God Bless our Great Country and God Bless our Troops!

I received a bunch of cards from some of my stamp club gals after asking for some last month. I should have another box ready pretty soon to head your way Keri.

Kim, you really are a neighbor to me....I'm over by East Valley HS!

Hugs,
Betsy

Default Can we put a stamp on the envelopes for the blank cards????

What an awesome idea - thank you so much for doing this - and I will be proud to participate.

I would like to know, however, may we pre-stamp the envelopes for the blank cards the troops are sending home? I think my cousin had to put stamps on outbound mail when he was in Kurgistan (spelling?) and Afghanistan.

He's home now (thank God) - safe & sound, and we know how much it means for them to get mail.

Just a thought.

I don't know about you gals but I have lots and lots and LOTS of discontinued stuff along with 2 full sets of old pads, glue sticks, etc. I am thinking that it might be fun to make up a couple of goodie boxes to send over so that the troops (men and women) can make their own cards.

Vee mentioned in her post that they did that and it went to the chapel. I thought it might be a good idea now. I have some Christmas stamps that would be very happy in the hands of a soldier.

I have a downline in the Guard and she is going to ask if that is a possibility. I will let you know if it will work.

I would rather send my discontinued stuff to someone who would get enjoyment out of them. I am going to have my kids help me with this, I think they will enjoy it very much and it will be a good lesson in giving.
