Target and Scrapbooking Supplies

I was in my local Target this morning and noticed that almost all the scrapbooking supplies are on clearance. Anyone else notice this in their neck of the woods? Is Target discontinuing this line of products? :(

tchk 02-07-2009 01:59 PM

Same thing at a local Target here the other day. Looks like the scrapbooking boom is slowing down.

snowcountry311 02-07-2009 02:06 PM

same here in central ny

clsmith 02-07-2009 02:06 PM

Man, I hope not. I love shopping for goodies there.

53queenbee 02-07-2009 02:12 PM

No, I don't think so. Target does that every few months. They bring in new stuff more than any store I have ever seen. This past summer they cleared everything out at 50% in my area and I asked. That is what the stocker told me--new stuff every 6 months. Once the hit break even points, Target puts it all on clearance.

Stampnf1n 02-07-2009 02:31 PM

The one near me here in Omaha has everything on sale also. I was wondering the same thing.

And my Joann's has almost nothing scrapbooking/stamping related.

Our Target here Clearanced everything (well most everything) in their entire store because they are closing tonight and remodeling it into a Greatland Target. They will reopen in time for the holidays.

Barbie 50 02-07-2009 02:48 PM

Our Target does this every few months to stock up with new stuff :)
So does Joanns.

Yes, I've asked the sales people before and they have replied that they get in new stock every few months. But thanks for the enabling alert. I may decide to make a run tonight.

momishappy 02-07-2009 05:55 PM

Thanks for enabling me to shop more.

Card Shark 02-07-2009 07:09 PM

Yup. All on clearance here and not much there at all.

ImAYoungin' 02-09-2009 08:31 AM

ours is on clearance too. My DBF works at Target, and they are just getting rid of it to get new product in, just like others have said! :) no worries!

TexasGrammy 02-09-2009 08:50 PM

While I buy very little crafty stuff at Target, I'm glad to know they aren't clearing away the entire department. It's very close in case of a "pinch"! ;)

Kathleen16 02-10-2009 08:40 AM

Hmmm.

I'll have to check that out. I know that department went through a clearance about 6 months ago. Haven't seen anything lately though.

How good are the prices?

The clearance prices weren't discounted enough to make me want to "get it all". I actually didn't get anything. Their regular prices are better than Michaels and HL everyday prices.

cmcmaryd 02-10-2009 08:43 PM

I may have to check that out tomorrow before or after work.

It depends, we're trying to get the house cleaned up. Ladies from church are visiting on Thursday and my scraproom is all over the living room cause that's where I scrap.

GramMcCaul 02-11-2009 04:23 AM

This should have been labeled as an Enabler Alert -- LOL - will stop on the way home from work -- thanks:-D

CR8tive K8 02-12-2009 08:02 AM

I got some great K&Co. dimensional flowers and can't wait to use them! They weren't a HUGE bargain, but good enough to dabble! Better than paying full price in my book! HA!

OMG! I was SHOCKED when I went to Target yesterday and the scrapbooking section was GONE, completely GONE! Completely empty aisle. There were a few miscllaneous items on the clearance endcap, and a little sign saying "something new & exciting is coming" (or something to that effect). I hope it is more scrapbook stuff! sniff sniff :(

jeanstamping2 03-05-2009 03:43 PM

Our's was almost empty the other day. I was totally surpised by it!

ckf522 03-05-2009 05:07 PM

I checked my target here in MO. They didn't have much left, but nothing was marked down. Hopefully they're just going to get new stuff in.

mariekay19 03-05-2009 06:15 PM

I haven't checked mine, but thanks for the heads up. I'll head out there tomorrow.

hquinzelle 03-06-2009 04:05 PM

I was at Target today and they had a bunch of new supplies in, so I think we can rest easy. They had this really cute summer paper pack with oranges/strawberries, etc.

Oh Dear, I hope not!! We don't have Target in Canada and I am going to LA in April for a long weekend with some girlfriends and can't wait to hit a Target!!!

mariekay19 03-06-2009 06:11 PM

I went tonight and ours didn't have anything on sale and nothing really good at all. :(

isewquilts2 03-07-2009 05:44 PM

I went in today and it was mostly preprinted invite kits left. I did pick up some really cute red and white treat bags with button embellishments--a box of 50 for about $5.

Paper Junky 03-09-2009 03:47 PM

I went to Target today and was VERY disappointed at what I saw. They had replaced a lot of their papers and other stamping stuff (one side of the aisle) almost entirely with scrapbooking albums!! I don't know how many people they thought were suddenly going to start needing SB albums, but they got 'em! I did see one new stamp set from Autumn Leaves (safari animals).

jen_designer 03-09-2009 09:10 PM

Yep, my Target is quite empty, too. I hope it is just a cleaning out, not a changing so they'll have more room for something else : )

Beedle 03-10-2009 06:31 AM

I asked the clerk at the register and she said they are just clearing out to bring in new stuff. If you check around the store, many departments are in the same shape...condensed bare shelves just waiting for new merchandise. I am glad to see they rotate the stock to bring in new stuff :)

tesschap 03-10-2009 07:27 AM

I guess I'd better stop by my neighborhood Target to check it out. I almost hope that the clearance stuff is gone and the new stuff is sitting there waiting to come home with me!

Paper Junky 03-10-2009 12:50 PM

Yes, they did clear out a lot and I was expecting a bunch of new stuff but, as I mentioned above, it seems they have FILLED UP the shelves with JUST scrapbooking albums. There are no more empty shelves at this point. That is what is disappointing and concerning.

marge0738 03-11-2009 06:35 AM

my local target has a lot of scrapbooking stuff on clearence too. marge

Target in the Dakotas

We just had a total renew/redo of our Target store, and they put in two full aisle's of new stuff, so I don't think they are going out. Have a gf who works there as an ***'t mgr. I'll ask her for the skinny and let you know.

RJP111 03-12-2009 10:47 AM

I stopped in at Target earlier this week and was disheartened to see the craft aisle nearly empty. It looked like they were moving some of the stationary items into that area.

I just came back from Target and you are right! They had tons of new stuff in and there were two clerks still working on the next isle over. It is mostly Making Memories (much more than they used to stock) and the "generic" brand of Making Memories. I bought some neat canvas flowers as the big splurge today!

Twocatsonepup 03-13-2009 10:48 AM

I must be at the wrong Targets. I have never seen scrapbooking stuff at the ones in Maine or here in NM. Am I looking in the wrong area? All I see are greeting cards, but then I do not go to Target very often.

AngelEllie 03-13-2009 11:02 AM

I will have to check out our Target here when I go this afteroon..we just had a new SuperTarget built in this area this past year.

At my Target they are in the isle between the candles and the school supplies.

CR8tive K8 03-14-2009 04:11 PM

WOW! Stopped into target yesterday and found the aisle all redone - way cool stuff coming in - new paper packs, new punches, stickers, and so much more. I found tons of K&Co. stuff as well as Making Memories all in coordinating packs and stickers and embellies.

Also, I found tons of things in the clearance sections ( you know, hidden on the back end caps of each aisle) my DD had a great time with the fiskars punches and looking thru Autumn Leaves stamps, holiday stamps and albums galore.

Hopefully everyone will find this in their store soon - this store is only a year old and seems to move stuff in and out ahead of schedule since it is the only "big" store in the area.
