steampunk

has anyone ever designed in the steampunk style. this was my first time and I am really addicted. please take a peek in the gallery here and let me know what you think. I used Hazel Fisher's Steampunk Stamps. (Birds) I only used 1 but 2 of the same, using the second for another card. I had lots of fun referencing and learning what supplies I needed. It is hard to stay in the box...as my style is to "off the wall" and freebirding. But, I am anxious to challenge myself again...and soon!

Thanks for reading...Take a peek..!!!!

I like it!!! I haven't gotten into Steampunk because for some reason my mind just doesn't go there. I like a lot of it when I see it done, but I just can't figure out how to get there. It is something I am going to work on to get "out of my comfort zone". I have worked with the graphic45 Steampunk Debutante paper and have a few ideas rolling around. Thanks for sharing your card. :D

thanks cindy for your remark! easy once you just simply pick from a list you make in your imagination...and think victorian and narrow down and just be free to arrange the items in a triangle..build that nest! smiles, jean

I just uploaded a Steampunk Art Doll I created earlier this year if you would like to check it out. It was so much fun to make. I don't have the $$ to go out and buy all the steampunk goodies out there and need to get creative with what I have on hand and do more of it. fun-fun-fun!

What exactly IS steampunk? I mean, what separates it from "normal" stuff?

Here's some sites to check Steampunk card making. If you google steampunk card making, you can find a lot of ideas out there.

Stacy, that is a very cool doll. So many little details on it to look at. Great job. :D

thank you Cindy!

Think of Steampunk as a combination of 1800's Victorian era with a futuristic sci-fi edge/twist.

BTW, forgot to say that Dawn's Rise link was awesome!

Remember the look of the old Wild, Wild West TV show (for those old enough to remember that) or the remake movies with Will Smith? That's the look - just like stampin stacy said in post #10. Watching those again gives you a really good overall feel of what to look for, especially when doing more than just cards. Too bad so much stuff nowdays is made with cheap plastic and little microprocessor brains - tearing apart old mechanical stuff was a great way to get pieces and parts for 3D steampunk creations. Now you have to buy the pieces in little packets and pay high prices for them.

Steampunk is really fun to do. Check out Andy Skinner's gallery here on SCS for some really nice altered items that he made into steampunk.
