Be careful on what you order, and check the original price. I was about to place an order on Friday evening, after reading their email. Two of the items I was ordering were marked at $29.99, which made them $15 at half price.
The problem was that the real original price, according to Spellbinders, is $19.99 instead of $29.99. I emailed Scrap-Mart asking them about it, but haven't heard back yet. They don't usually mark things up above MSRP (like JoAnn.com does), so I'm sure it is just a mistake. But for me it would be an extra $10 spent if I order before it gets fixed. Mary |

mcbenjam,
Thanks for the heads up, but I think the problem is that if you viewed the price that Spellbinders is selling them for on their site vs. the original list price, there is a difference. For example, one of the items I ordered was Spellbinders So Trendy M-Bossabilities. As you can see, on the ScrapMart site the list price is $7.99. They're selling it for $5.99. The item on the Spellbinders' site isn't the list price. It's the selling price. And this is what I paid for it (rounding up to $8.00 - 50% = $4.00). I did check some other items, all were based on list price (as shown on Amazon.com and other places). No rip-off :D The staff are very easy to work with and will go out of their way to help you make your order (I had to split the cost between 2 gift cards; the man who helped me did the work for me on the best method of using the card totals vs. order total). |
Thanks for the info, Joan. I've ordered from ScrapMart for several years, so I'm not upset at them. However, I checked a number of places, and on these particular dies quite a few of them showed $19.99 as the MSRP instead of $29.99.
It's a moot point, anyway, since the sale is over...not like I need any more dies anyway! These were ones that I wasn't totally sure I needed, but if they had been $10 a set, you might as well have them, right? Mary |

Of course you need them!!!! And we're all here to help you! :D Its too bad you had to lose out. Maybe they'll show up in their discounted area sometime... Periodically go to Tuesday Mornings; they get in a little Spellbinders from time to time. |
mcbenjam,
Could you contact Kelly@Spellbinders (Post #16) from the Spellbinder dies cut terrible thread: //www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/tool-product-talk-f128/spellbinder-dies-cut-terrible-t571085.html and see if she could discover the reason for the two discrepancies in list prices? There should only be one. If it is due to Spellbinders' error, see if they could contact ScrapMart on your behalf and let you purchase the two dies you wanted at the sale price (if they are still available). Its worth a shot! |

I have to say that Scrap Mart customer service is EXCELLENT and very respectful!!!!!!!!
I emailed Howard after reading about the difference in prices. He gave a clear explanation and I am very supportive of his explanation. At the beginning of November, new pricing from Spellbinders was rolled out where they lowered their prices across the board to compete with other die makers/sellers. The retailers (in this case, Scrap Mart) don't get a "refund" on previous purchases just because the wholesaler lowers their prices after the fact. So the listed price is the price before Spellbinders lowered their prices. I've always been impressed with Scrap Mart in what they provide, the sales they promote, free shipping on dies, fast shipping, very responsive to errors in orders (I only had one... very satisfied with the resolution), timely communication....you name it....customer service is top notch. |
Brenda,
That reason makes perfect sense. If they bought it at a higher price, then that would influence their subsequent sales and discounts. It is interesting that you were able to get an answer to an email. I sent mine through their Contact Us link last Friday, and have not yet received a response. That was surprising, since I've been a customer there for years. I've only had to contact them a couple of times, and each time got an immediate response. This time it has been several days and still nothing. Anyway, it's still a moot point now since the sale is over. Mary |
That does make sense, and I respect that. I went to Michaels today in a neighboring town, since Spellbinders were 25% off, plus a coupon for an additional 30% off between 7 am and noon. Of course they still didn't have what I wanted, so I wasn't terribly surprised.

Mary & Kim, Hey there's always the Christmas sales! :D

It's Brenda's fault - she started it! :D

I love that sale. I hate that sale. I always spend too much! This year I indulged with a $100 order, because I got a Paypal Credit (used to be Bill Me Later) offer of $50 for opening a line of credit.
Now, it would be nice if Paypal would HONOR that offer, because they are giving me the run around and so far have only credited me $10 (a LONG way from $50!!!) |
