Default New stamps at Michael's

I'm sure someone has posted about these, but I figured I'd post just in case no one else has. I went to my Michael's last weekend and they had new stamps in the dollar spot. There were several very cute Studio G animal clear sets. They also had some birthday & more animal wood mounted sets. I only got one. My husband found the really cool stamps. I thought they were magnates & walked right past them. There are 8 designs. They are clear stamps with a design under the clear block. I don't know how else to describe them. I got five of the six designs. The one I didn't get is a zebra print because I can't see myself using it. The blocks are a great find even just to use with clear stamps. They're nice & thick. They also had a few new chipboard books in a scottie dog, cherry & rounded star shapes. I'm really loving the dollar items Michael's has been getting. JIL

Please, don't tempt me. These look like well made stamps for $1.00. When I hit 1000 stamps I told myself I was going to stop buying stamps. Then I found Stampin' Up. Need I say more?

Here are my Michael's treasures from today's visit. They had other $1 clear stamps beside Wish...ie, Joy, Today, Life, Faith & some of the clear animal stamps but I stayed within my small budget & chose the ones I loved best.

LOL! Hi Karen! Do you have a tuxedo fur baby too? Maybe they were twins separated at birth! Mine is a boy kitty named Merlin. He thinks he's human!

Love your adorable doggy avatar too!

I was surprised when I walked into my Michael's today to FINALLY see some new Studio G clear stamps, too! Of course, in Canada, they're $1.50, not $1, and I didn't see nearly the selection the op showed, but I did get a "Wish" clear set and a cupcake wood mount. How can you resist at that price?

I actually saw these today but I promised myself no more stamps until April. I spent my budget on stamping materials this month...thanks for the post though.

I only have one question.....can I borrow your Husband? If my husband went into any craft store with me .........me gasping first....and he found stamps for me to look at...............lordy the chubby girl fainting on the floor.....................well now that would be a site to see and talk about for a LONG time.....

Sis- You are too funny. My husband has endured much pain for my stamping addiction. Go to my blog post titled Father Knows Best to read about his poor ear. I was shocked that he went with me to a Michaels just days later.

clpangels-I didn't really look too hard at the wood mount animals. I got the monkey and I think he may be too cute for me. I don't stamp much cute. I always wosh I could, but it just isn't what I go for when stamping. I know there were two different penguins in the clear sets, the elephant, lion & monkey. I don't remember seeing anything else.

I have 2 tuxedo babies - Coco is my BIG man, and Little Girl was picked out just for him, as my all black baby _ New York, did not want ANYTHING to do with him.

My wittle dogger is Toby.

Thanks to the poster who showed what those clear-mount rubber stamps look like when they're stamped! I didn't care for the design on the clear mount, but I really like what you've stamped. I'll have to pick up a few of those.

Also, did anyone else notice that the wood-mounted animal stamps seem to be made cheaper this time? They don't look like the traditional red rubber they've always used, but like the cheap-o stuff you can find mounted onto plastic handles at Dollar Tree. (Those don't stamp worth anything.)

I got the "Happy Birthday" sentiment that was in with the animals last week and didn't bother to turn it over and look at the actual stamp part. When I got it home, I saw the "rubber" (if that's what it really is) was so pockmarked there was no way I'd be able to use it. That's when I noticed the cheap material it was made out of, so when I returned it, I didn't buy another one.

So, did anyone else notice the inferior materials? Because $1 for a stamp isn't a deal if it's a piece of junk, you know?

That is exactly why I buy SU almost exclusively now. Their quality has gotten me so spoiled I'm finding that I'm not happy with "cheap" stamps any more.

I buy a few SU stamps, but when I can buy a set of stamps with a 40% coupon for $7 or so ---- that's the direction I take. I buy a lot of stamps, from a lot of companies & most of them are marvelous stamps. They may be inexpensive, but I love the cards they make.

The wooden Studio G ones (made by Hampton Arts) are much better than some of the other brand dollar stamps. I know the Recollections ones I've seen are chintzy. I have been more than thrilled with the Studio G ones, though. I also buy Hampton Arts stamps that are not dollar stamps.

I think you're right - those aren't the Studio G name. I, too, have been thrilled with all the Studio G and Hampton Art stamps I've gotten, especially the $1 variety.

Lest anyone think I'm just complaining, I tend to be pretty cheap when it comes to buying stamps. There are certain companies I'll probably never buy from because I just can't stand paying $20+ for one stamp set when I could get 4 of them at Michaels with a coupon for the same price ... I just happened to notice the lack of quality of this particular stamp.
