Of course price (not percentage off) and for exact same item. AC Moore has Tombow adhesive refills on sale for 2/$5 and glue dots 2/$5. I just so happened to have the ad with me at Michaels today. They matched the price. Then much to my shock the 40% off coupon instead of taking $6 off the only non-sale item I purchased ($10) it took $10 off my order! I asked the cashier when checking the receipt and the manager was baffled to and said enjoy the bonus discount. She couldn't figure out what happened either.
So I guess I was just meant to go to M's today. I didn't have to drive the extra 10 miles to AC Moore to pick up adhesive refills & glue dots that I needed.
Yay. Now I know to check out both ads and save the trip to AC Moore if M's has the same item. The manager told me that price matching at Michaels is recent as they did not used to do that.

According to a post on the Scrappin' Cricut blog, Michaels also accepts competitors' coupons for items from other local stores, including A.C. Moore, Hobby Lobby, Jo-Anns, Garden Ridge, Roberts, Pat Catan's, and Ben Franklin. But they will not accept competitor coupons for a percent off of total purchase.
I was in Michael's last week and they do not price match on everyday items. Only on sale items with the ad in hand. As of June of this year they stopped price matching on everyday items. I spoke to 2 different people at the 1 800 number and this is what I was told.
It was a sale item from the AC Moore ad. I can see not matching everyday item prices, I don't know of many stores that do that.
My coupon was the one from the Sunday paper. (I believe it's a different bar code than the one some people got emailed to them). The person behind me had the same exact coupon as me and it did the normal 40% off one item. So the discount seems to be a fluke.

I took in an ACMoore coupon that I hadn't read the fine print on and thought it was a Michaels coupon (smile!). Well...it was the exact same sale that Michaels had for columbus day, what do you expect? (grin!)
They actually gave me the 40% off regular price item with the ACMoore coupon at Michaels! Who am I to argue?
