Our local stamp store is closing today. Stampassion was located in Latham, New York (near Albany) and it's been a great art resource for over 10 years. They just could not compete with the internet and chain stores any longer. Two years ago there were 6 independent stores in our area. Now there is only one.

That's really sad to hear. We have 1 LSS in town & it is on its third owner in 5 years. I do everything I can to help her stay open.
That is a shame...we have two stores about an hour away. I would be so sad if either closed....

I feel your pain...we had two nice little shops in addition to the chains, and both places closed, but due to the gals having to take care of elderly parents. I just hate the chains.

Both are nice stores, but Buffalo Stamps has a much bigger selection. ( But she has been open alot longer than Utopia. ) We usually go Rochester way, but when the weather gets nicer we tend to head Buffalo way more. Plus my Mom and I go to the stamp convention in August....
ohhh... I have been to that store. They had awesome stamps. I got one there that after you stamped the image it folded up into an adorable 3-d picnic basket. I always tried to stop there on our way home from Lake George. I will miss it.

Woo hoo love the shout out...both of these stores are awesome. I know Jen because of living in Rochester, and she's always so nice and accomodating, does some special orders, too. Hope she stays in business FOREVER!!!!
