And before you freak out about the cardstock, please read the following:
In addition to discontinued items, many years we also have a number of items that are being offered in a different quantity or assortment in the upcoming catalog. This year, we're offering the following items differently in the Fall-Winter Collection 2007:
Select individual color packs of 12" x 12" card stock
Confetti White & Kraft Tiny Takeout boxes & tags
Select embossing powder colors
Select 1/4" grosgrain ribbon colors
Corner Rounder punch
I noticed that there were both sizes of going gray on the list. Do you think they are discontinuing it all together, or just putting it in a smaller pack?
Also, I wonder if the grosgrain ribbons will be in smaller packs. I hope not - that's one of the great appeals of SU - you can get ribbons in mega packs!

OMGoodness...is there anything left???? Gawd...I am really going to devour that catty. I hope, I hope, I hope that they have some awesome stuff in it or they will have a VERY disappointed group of stampers!! If not disappointed, then downright angry! LOL
Isabel, I feel your pain! I think the new catalog is going to be super-fabulous, though! I can't wait for it to arrive! I got a shipping confirmation yesterday, so I know they will be here soon. Hooray!
I am amazed that they are getting rid of all of those colors in the 12x12 cardstock as well as the stampin around ink cartridges. I don't have this kind of money to get it all. :( This makes me sad that we only have basically 10 days to get it all. I wish they would consider putting the accessories list out with the regular retiring list so we would have a much better chance of getting what we need.

I am very disappointed in their decision to retire all those 12x12 packs. As a huge scrapbooker I am not interested in getting multipacks of cardstock. I use sometimes 4-8 colors on a themed spread. I think I might have to switch to CTMH for their 12x12 cardstock because I can still get it in a full pack. I've already discussed this with someone on the AB this morning but I really think it is too late for a lot of us scrappers. For cards that is fine but not for sbing.
I am totally bummed. This is my first year as a demonstrator, but whew!, what a hit.
The suspense of the new catty is NOT fun, it's nerve-racking! I'm glad the new cattys have shipped. I really am on the edge of my seat.
I don't even want to look at the retired list.
I'm in denial.
I know SU will offer us a lot more great 'trendy' stuff.
Thanks all!
Wow! Is what I said at first... along with a few boo hoos. This is hitting in the pocket, but not new to the changing of cattys.
Do you think they will be changing some of the items to supply items? wishful thinking on my part... not likely
1. I never buy multi packs of cardstock because I don't use some colors and they sit on the shelf. if they do go to all multi packs of 12 x 12 I might be forced to explore new color combos in scrapbooking. I bet they don't sell a lot of 12 x 12 solid color packets to regular customers, but they probably do to demos and who are SU's best customers. Lets hope they are smaller packs instead of only multi packs. (whishful thinking again)
2. Ribbon, This is going to kill me if they multi pack those! I have every ribbon in every color and some in multi packs. My customers will continue to see those at workshops & stamp camps until I empty my supply. They match our cardstock perfectly! I love our ribbon the way it comes what I have won't go to waste.
3. retiring cartridges... hmmmm that is wierd. but I use ink pads and not a cartridge anyways, so this won't kill my budget. I call it resourceful, smart or poor man stamping (using ink pads instead of cartridges cause you can use a stamp pad for stamping & wheeling.
4. Punches... I am very sad about the pocket punches... and the daisy punch. I really love those ALOT.
grey paper... is becoming basic grey instead of going grey. no biggie because I use it a lot instead of the metalic silver (because of cost).
I don't think Basic Grey is replacing Going Grey since the CLASSIC Going Grey pad is not being retired. It is weird they are retiring both sizes of paper tho, so not sure what's up with that.
And for those worried about the ribbon, I *think* they might just be changing the names (to actually match the cardstock!) They are also coming out with a wide grosgrain, so I think the current grosgrain we have will be considered narrow grosgrain.
As for ink cartridges, not sure what that's all about. They probably want us to buy un-inked cartridges and have us ink them ourselves with re-inkers.
Does anyone know why they are retiring the cartridges? l don't use the pads because they don't re-ink continuously like the cartridge. I guess I am hoping to understand why before I try and purchase a bunch. Anybody have a thought?
Purhaps they are going to sell only the empty cartridges so we can reink our own in any color.
That's what I was wondering too. Might be cost effective that way anyway. Also, what is with some of the journalers being retired, but not the other stuff in that color?
Does someone have a list of the grosgrain ribbon colors vs. the paper color names? I have the celery ribbon and know that matches the certainly celery paper but I'm not sure about some of the other ribbons and papers.
Also I saw on the list that there is a stitched grosgrain cranberry crisp and stitched grosgrain true thyme. Where are these in the catalog? I don't see them on the page with the rest of the ribbons.
Ok, well I am really upset about the whole 12 x 12 paper thing, If it goes to a multi pack, I am scrued, I have two clubs that are scrapbook clubs, we do a double page layout each month, I have 17 people between the two clubs, so I order the packs of single colors for 3 to 5 colors each month, depending on the pages. If they go to multi packs, I can not afford to do the pages for the groups, which is why most of them are doing it. my groups are committed, one till nov, and the other till dec. so i have no idea what I am going to do.
I am praying that they are just reducing the # of pages in the packs. thanks for listening to me rant.
Nichole

I believe they were in the winter mini. Still availabe for purchase after that tho.
Please someone post the UPDATED retiring accessories lists as the updates become available. These lists should be on the SU website, then you would contact your demo when you were ready to order.

It's easy to get annoyed by retirements, but you know, other than direct sale companies, no one else lets you know. So I appreciate the advance warning - my LSS, Pottery Barn, etc., don't extend the same courtesy.
Change can be really good. Longaberger retired a bunch of stuff a couple years ago, and came out with a fresh look. I thought it was great (not everyone, but hey, what can you do?). Or CTMH switching to photopolymer. Not everyone will be happy, but I love seeing new things and technology and trends are always changing. Our companies need to move with it!
I was so sad when I saw the retiring list! Ignoring cardstock, boxes, tags, etc., I still need to come up with $60 to cover the things I simply will not live without! And that 2 weeks before my regular stamp club! Still, SU has the best quality so I guess I'll whine but not complain too loud.
I just ordered 5 rolls of ribbon and some paper from my demo. Hopefully it will still be available when she gets to put in my order. I was planning to wait to order stuff until her retirement part next week, but I was afraid I wouldn't get the ribbon or the designer paper.
I'm especially bummed, because as someone else already said, (can't find the post right now), after getting everything this month there will be no $$ left for when the new catty comes out. Oh well, it will still be way fun to look at!!! Still can't wait for that! = )
I was freaking out a bit this morning, when I went through my "Mark-Up" catalog and marked everything that is going away. But then the day wore on and I realized....there is going to be SO MUCH in the new catalog that will really be BRAND SPANKIN NEW. I nearly had to run to the bathroom when I got to thinking about the possibilities...
I am feeling now that the changes will be slight - repackaging, renaming, repricing, renumbering.. all that, and yeah it might affect planning or costs but I doubt that it will be as painful as it feels right now. And I sincerely believe that we will still have the best coordinating products AND trandsetting products out there for the best overall price.
Any grief I have over lost stampsets or ribbon colors will be promptly replaced by the oohhhhhs and ahhhhhhs I will have over the new sets and products. I for one, have to be forced out of my box, in terms of colors, designs and techniques. The yearly (now bi-yearly) changes and updates will get me out of my rut and make me use what I buy....instead of hoarding it and looking at it all pretty on my shelves.
I hope my UPS man is ready for me when he arrives...I might just jump on him and tackle him right there in the front yard to get my catty!! I hope it is the cute young guy not the older woman we sometiems have! lol:rolleyes:

does anyone have a list of the retired accessories they would please share with me. i can't get the pdf. file to open on this old old old old computer. i would certainly love to see all the things i just know i must have in the next few days. my SU demo is in the hospital having a baby via c-section or i would ask her.
Wow, even though I know the new catty will be great, I can't believe that list! I'm really worried about the ribbon, but I like the idea someone mentioned earlier on this thread about possibly changing the colors slightly or packaging them so that they match the cardstock/inks. Anyone know what's up with the embossing powders? I love embossing and not sure what I'm going to do if they don't sell them anymore...

If you'll notice, the heat gun has NOT been retired. I'm sure if there were no more ep's, there'd be no more heat gun either. I'm sure it's another repackaging thing; I imagine to smaller size jars.
I've been buying and or buying/selling SU for years now, and I can't remember a year that I didn't enjoy the new catalog way more than I was disappointed in the retiring products. There's just always a TON of new stuff that I want all at once! And whenever I have stocked up on retiring stuff, I find that I simply don't use it...I generally head for the latest and greatest to create with!
Don't worry, be happy, how'd that song go? The really annoying one, lol? In a week's time everybody'll be dancin' in the streets...
Holy cow!! We all have the same fears and hopes-we are ONE : o) In anycase, it's nice to see that some of you *think* our supplies will still be usable, only packaged diffently. For some of us, it has taken years to get every color of ribbon/reinker, 12 x 12 packages, etc. I hope we can still use them.
Does anyone know what it means when the shipping info for UPS says, "Submitted to supplier?" Does that mean the catty's have only been earmarked for shipment, but not sent yet? Really wondering about this...
I have to say that I am just SICK about all of the Designer Series paper and Simply Scarappin' kits that are going! Spring Flowers & Showers are my favorite! Not to metion the Rebecca and Sarah papers that just came out...also Party Pieces. SAD TIME! :(
