I recently got engaged- last Wednesday. Now I'm stressing over unique party favors, thank you's, etc. I'm getting married in less then a year . . . any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated!
Congrats! I love weddings! Don't stress out too much! I think too often people over-think their weddings and worry about things that other people won't even remember 5 years down the road! Enjoy!

ohhhh congrats!!! I got married last summer and looking back I can't believe how stressed out I was over favors. I spent a lot of time online searching various websites looking for unique favors. Then to save money I spent many long hours making 150 of them a month prior to my wedding. I guess the advice I can give to you is try not to stress over the little things and enjoy planning your wedding.
The michaels website has a few different ideas for favors. Good Luck!!
Congratulations! I also wanted something unique and inexpensive for my favors. We ended up getting custom designed post-it notes (attatched a pic) They were inexpensive and I've never seen anyone else do the same thing! I tied each with a purple organdy ribbon. It's something people will keep because they can use it!! Good luck!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! How exciting for you!! Try not and stress about everything right now,, take a few more days to enjoy the excitment of being newly engaged!!! I am sure the creativity will flow soon enough!!!!
Congratulations on your engagement. I don't really have any great ideas for you but don't stress out to much, you have plenty of time, our whole wedding was planned in 4 weeks and we had a pretty good size wedding. It actually came together really easily b/c I didn't have time to stress over little details. Enjoy everything.
Are you wanting to make favors? I was in a destination wedding in Florida and they had cute little favors, they printed the menu (it was a serve yourself buffet but they printed what was available) and they put that along with a starfish magnet in a little organdy bag that matched the wedding colors. They were very cute and simple. If you are wanting to stamp something then you could stamp the menu's or the organdy bags, if you are not having food you could just add a little note thanking them for coming or something.

Congratulations! My advice for you would be to choose a little theme, something reflecting your interests or personalities, and go from there! And check here for tons of ideas. Just keep is simple, and inexpensive, so you have something left in the bank after the wedding day is over! Lots of luck.

First off...CONGRATULATIONS...and remember this is YOUR day... Your guests are just happy to be invited...
Simplicity has always been my best friend...
When I got married - I ordered a bunch of the muslin bags and I stamped on them with a Ann-ticipation Stamp - it was a bouquet of clovers tied with a ribbon - I also Had a stamp made with our first names on it - we filled it with potpourri and tied it with ribbon... the colors matched our wedding theme and the clovers were used since we had gotten married in Ireland and this was the reception back here in the states.
I am very happy for you and yours with the wedding in your future....engagements are exciting.....to young and old. Our members have given you some great advice.......keep it simple....try not to stress.....make the most of the planning to enjoy it.
You will remember this time in your life always....I was married 42 years ago, and I still recall the excitement, planning, parties, shopping, selecting china, crystal, and silver. By the way, I still love my selections just as much today....must admit that I made some good choices.....including the husband!! LOL !!
By all means, pick out a theme.....some colors that you love....and start reading some bridal magazines. Martha Stewart has a good bridal magazine......with some fantastic suggestions for flowers, cakes, and favors, too. Also, there are books that have time tables set up to help you so you can relax and know that you are on schedule.
I would suggest that you get a large notebook that can hold pocket folders. Make a pocket for different categories to hold contracts, receipts, and important data. Keep it with you at all times. At the front of the notebook, write down your budget limits and stay within those guidelines.
If you are planning on making your own wedding invitations.....save the date cards....and such, begin NOW doing so. Do not save something like that for the end......you will feel so proud to have them all made and addressed way ahead of time. I speak out of experience as I have helped DD...........
If I can help you, PM me, and I will be glad to offer any help you might need. I am not a wedding planner, but have helped numerous girls with their weddings the past three years and have learned quite a lot in the process.
I just returned from Target, and they have some darling bridal accessories on sale......a large white fabric covered file case for filing and storing receipts, etc. It is on sale for 12..95.....toooooo cute!! Just the most appropriate thing for a bride to carry around during the planning of her wedding......
I made candy bar wrappers for my Son's wedding favor. I had a stamp made with their names and wedding date and used some rose stamps. I used light weight white glossy paper and silver ultra fine embossing powder. Roses were colored in Purple with olive green leaves.
I also made something similar for my 30th anniversary party but in pink.
I lucked out and found a man that wanted to be a part of everything when it came to planning the wedding. We got married in June and I wanted lots of spring flowers everywhere. We decided to give wild flower seeds as our favors. We bought a large paint can size bucket of seeds from a local nursery. It was very cheep I think it was about $10 or $12. We wrapped about a 1/8 cup of seeds in 1 layer of colored tissue and 1 layer of white organza. You could see the colored tissue through. We tied it at the top with a colored ribbon and added a little card that had a little verse that said: "Thank you for joining us this day. You've added to our happiness in a very special way. As you plant these seeds and watch them bloom, may memories of our special day forever fill your room."
They were simple, easy and very elegant. We were married 3 years ago and I have had many people who were at our wedding say to me years later that the seeds that they planted from our wedding still bloom every year and that they think of us and our wedding when they see the flowers.
Enjoy the planning and take the advise that my mother gave me: don't stress and worry over the small little details, in 5 years from now no one will know or remember that the cake was turned the wrong way or that a flower was missing, what they will remember is you and our husband full of love and happiness. And that is really what matters.
My fiancee and I just got married on Saturday. I made candy bars, and pens with our names and weding date. The pens went very quickly. We also had bubbles tied with ribbon in our wedding colors.
I also made cones out of vellum, and put rose petals in them and had our guest toss them on us when we walked back up the aisle after the ceremony. If I would have had more time I would have stamped on them, but they looked nice with just the plain vellum.
I have pic and templates. If you are interested PM me
Good Luck, and Congrats again.
Cris

M and M's that you can have imprinted initials on and order in any color you want! I hope my friend decided on those for her wedding, everyone loves chocolate or knows someone who does!

Congrats on your engagement! How exciting.....I used to live in NJ and there are some great parks and the shore. You could do a lot with a sea shore theme. Seashells and candles (yankee does personalized ones) or some other goody would be really neat!

YEAH!!! Enjoy this time, it is so much fun!! Last summer, for my best friend's wedding, she made small notepads with a wedding cake stamped on the front. She used pencils and glitter to make them sparkle. She crimped a piece of paper to go over the binding! She had a stamp made at Office Max with their names on it. They turned out very cute! She gave me the extras!! Good -luck! Stephanie

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

That is a great idea. . .
considering that we (meaning M&M's and me) share the same hometown. I grew up 3 block from the main M&M's plant and I have a family member that works there.
I made all the invitations, name cards gifts everything . my fiancee had great ideas too. for the shower he and mother did big candy bars and stamped on them. for our gifts to our guests he made Christmas ornaments with our name and date on them, hung them on a shepards hook he designed at work and put them in a planter filled with candies.
I recommend you sign up at knot.com, they will e-mail weekly specials and I got bought here and bought there when on sale (like presonalized unity candle, etc). well, they sent the specials 3 years ago when I was planning our wedding. They also have FAQ, for when you question anything.
I agree do not sweat the small stuff, this will be your day and you want to remember it with fond memories, not vice versa!
Also, coming from a seasoned bridemaids, I was a bridemaids mant times over, way before I was a bride - let them pick their dresses, with your final ok of course
Don't make the bridesmaids dresses over their budget either. stay within their budget. My girls dresses for October were $99. Morie lee is a great designer for bridesmaid dresses and bridal gowns.
I filled boxes (very similar to the party favor boxes in the new catty) with hershy kisses. I wrote a quote on one side and our names and date on the other. (oh my world before stamping). You're really lucky that your fiance wants to be involved. I got married the same year as a friend of mine from high school. He remembers him and his wife working together on the party favors. I remember assembling a few hundred boxes watching the first Survivor finally and the two hour special afterward. How's that for romantic. I still wouldn't trade DH for the world though.
