Default The list is out!

What do you ladies think about the number of retired stamps? There are 233 retired sets (at least that is the number I counted) and 45 retired wheels. Of those, I lost 105 sets of stamps and 34 wheels. I am majorly bummed, especially about the florals, and the baby and wedding stamps. On the positive side though, the new catalog must be going to be a humdinger, since they have thrown out so many of the old stamps! I assume there are so many gone this year because they are cutting down the catalog size, and couldn't keep as many as they usually do.

I know demos can't showcase the stamp sets that are retired- but I have to say I'm confused by the claim that you anyone is "losing" sets. Stampin up doesn't come and take them away when they retire- you can still use them

There are quite a few stamps that were on my eventually wish list- and many many wheels, but sadly I will have to find them on BST or hope something even better comes out. I just can't spend any money right now.

That's what I'm thinking too, but it sure seems like they left plenty of room for lots of new stamps in the smaller catalog. Am I crazy or isn't the list usually only 1 page long. I can't believe it's almost 2 whole pages this year!

I'm not sure how much new stuff is going to be in the new catalog... there was an announcement on the demo site this morning about the "dormant" list, sets that are still available but not pictured in the catalog... that list only has 12 items on it, and 8 of them are wheels!

Details About the New Semi-Annual Catalog
May 1, 2007

Quote:

With the announcement of the retired stamp set list, we begin the transition from the 2006-2007 Idea Book & Catalog to our first semi-annual catalog the Fall-Winter Collection 2007. Here are some points to remember:

The Retired List is longer than in years past, however we do not anticipate future retired lists being this size. This is in part because the Fall-Winter Collection 2007 is slightly smaller than our current catalog.

The Dormant List contains stamp sets that, while they have not been retired, will not be listed in the Fall/Winter Collection 2007. These sets are still available for purchase from July 1 through January 1, 2007 and will be listed again in future catalogs.

Spring mini items are not included on retired or dormant lists. They may or may not be available after end of mini period. Encourage your customers to order their favorite items from the spring mini before July 1.

Thanks for the note about retired accessories list to be posted online June 20. I was wondering about that.

Well, at 2 am we counted what was left in the catalog, and came up with about 120 (including alphas, numbers, and monograms). So there should be room for *tons* of new stuff! That's the upside to a huge retiring list!

The list is out and it is oh so painful! Lots of stamps being retired. As for the person who posted about the Cool Carib. all the in colors get retired. A new set of in colors are coming as well as new brads. They are very cool!! The brads are more rinestone looking and they are called fire and ice. A few of the new in colors are great; mango looks like a fun summer color!

You are sooooo not crazy! Even my girl friends at work were like - ooooooh! there's a BACK side to this paper!

And as far as "loosing" sets... as Demos we "loose" the ability to demonstrate with the sets (what would be the point since no one could buy them). Since some of us are under the "delusion" that we have a business (J/K! I'm a hobby demo, but really - I might have a party soon! ) we justify our purchases for "in case we want to demo them"... you know like if DH wants to know why we have SO MANY! (Hee,hee...) we NEED them! But we don't really "NEED" them anymore for the business.... Not that I'd get rid of any! Love 'em too much!

NOw I must plot out the budget....

FYI...while Stampin' Up! can make more of their retiring stamp sets to meet demand through June 30, that is not true for the wheels. When they are gone, they are gone. Stampin' Up! just posted a list today indicating that several of the wheels are going quickly. If you want any of the wheels, get them sooner rather than later. They will be available while supplies last or until June 30, whichever comes sooner.
