Color Combo Site Shutting Down
 

After thinking long and hard about this, I have decided to shut down the Color Combo site.

I no longer stamp as much as I once did and I really don't have the time to update it any longer.

The other reason is financial. The hosting for the site costs money which I do not have. In the past year the donations have dwindled down to next to nothing and that's how I was keeping it up and running.

I am sorry as I know there are lots of people who use this tool.

Oh no, Laura! Thank you for the valuable resource you've provided to us for these past few years. It's been hugely helpful to me on a number of occasions.

If we managed to come up with the money to pay for the hosting for a year or two, would you consider not shutting it down? I know I for one have used your site when I was color challenged, and really appreciated the help.

Would you also consider letting someone else host and update it?

Many people donated last year to keep it going when a similar announcement was made, and I bet we could scrounge up donations for another year or two!

What is the latest news on this? PLEASE don't shut down this most valuable resource tool! How can we help you?

I've had it on my blog for at least a year now, and although I personally never use it, I do like having it for my customers. I definitely would contribute to keeping it up. Let me know where to send the $$.

I love that site. I use it quite a bit when I am really stumped.

If I weren't so technology incompetent, I'd offer to host it - but I don't even know what that means!!! But I sure hope someone comes through, and figures out how to put a button on it that says click here to contribute.

Just keeping "in the know" all of my customers love this site and rave about it!!!!

I am also sorry to hear about this. I hope the site will be able to be transfered to someone else to keep it up an running. If not and a new site needs to be made, I was able to get the hex codes for all the SU! colors that are on there right now. I am not sure how to come up with the hex codes for the next round of In Colors, but I am sure it can be figured out.

Is there any update? I can't live with the color wheel ALONE!!!

I'll donate!! I LOVE that site! The color wheel pales in comparison. I use your site for fresh new combos and to put combos together that I normally wouldn't think of! Please let us know what can be done to keep it going! Can it be hosted here on SCS??

Would SCS be willing to take over the site?? It's just a thought, but with the $$ this site is making, it would be a good investment, as the color wheel site would receive alot of hits, I'm sure!! OK... SCS....it's time to step up to the plate!!!

I would think that this would be the perfect site for STAMPIN UP to take over. They should be able to add it to their home site.

Web hosting actually costs very little. ;) I pay about 6.99/month to 8.99 depending on the type of server needed for the site. Domains are cheap from GoDaddy, etc so perhaps she is using a host who is re-selling it to her? I have seen some outrageous hosting fees out there so buyer beware.

If she does not want to continue the site herself perhaps she is willing to transfer to another individual with hosting capability.

Editing: I see there is a "make a donation" button on both her SU and CTMH color combo pages. In all fairness, it would be nice to know what the costs are vs. how much is received.

Just please be aware that on the Paypal payment page the email address listed uses a domain name that does not exist so it is not a valid email. Also the domain scrapitude uses private registration so there is not contact other than the domain registrar nameking/moniker. I just prefer to be able to have contact info prior to donating any money to people I do not know.

I did look and she was on yesterday but did not leave any comments. Hopefully she saw this interest and is looking into it?

haven't heard from her yet, and have pm'd her... just waiting i guess.
