cards for our troops
Not sure if I can post here .. SO sorry if it not the right place..
Hello Ladies,
I am trying to get some card front collected to send to my brother and cousin's troops who have been in iraq for over 2 years now with no sight in coming home any time soon..
so I am trying to put together some kind of card collects together to be able to send their troops some cards to be able to send home to family and friends plus xmas cards to be able to send home this year ...
so if you have any extras laying around I would so much apprecated it if you would donate them to this cause ...
they get so home sick and depressed around the holidays so i figured it would be nice to send them some cards to lift their spirts..
i am always sending them care packages with their snacks and mazs, socks, and stuff...
so i am hoping i can get some help with this ...
I thank each and everyone of you for taking the time out to read this thread. and for keeping them in your prayers

Hi. There is a woman here chrispy1778 that has been collecting cards too, you might ask her for suggestions. I know she is getting a lot.
Anyway, I will send some cards. Are there specific cards that they need more than others? I sent kid's birthday cards before. I can do those again or whatever is most needed. I will try to get some Christmas cards done too.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Pia

hello Ladies,
Well I got the chance to talk to my brother and he is excited that I am doing this for his team.. and others he said that they were talking the other night and some are just kids 19 20 yrs and they think that they are forgotten ...
the stories he was telling me was heartbreaking .. one kid lost his dad and couldnt get home in time . and the kid his name is thomas said he would be proud and honored to send home a handmaked card for us to his mom, and let her know we care for her son as well ... so this is NOW A MISSION for me ...
I want to be able to collect cards for them to send home for the different holidays.. moms day, fathers day, easter, thinking of you , birthday,
just anything that any one you can help with . I have 2 other friends and myself that are making cards and have been for over 1.5 now to send to them but there are so many of them that I am needing YOUR HELP NOW ..
I know that this SCS FAAMILY always comes together for causes .. so now I am asking for your help and support...
thank you for your time

I am a Splitcoast Stamper AND a soldier as well. I am currently deployed and a couple of the ladies have sent me cards to give to my soldiers to send home. Let me tell you, we DO get very homesick...especially when we have kids at home... I have also been told that it is harder to be over here when you are a Mom... {{sigh}} Keep on sending the cards to the troops...we LOVE them!!

Belle, I am running a card swap that is exactly for this!
I don't have card fronts, but I DO have cards. There are mixed themes and I can't say for sure on counts right now, but I can DEFINITELY send you some!
PM me if you're interested and we'll go from there.

ROberta,
Thank you so much for sharing all the cards that you have received in response to your swap with all the other ladies on SCS that are trying to do the same.
I know you started your swap as a small way to help and the response you received was unbeleivable. Thanks again for supporting all the other threads that are trying to do something similiar. YOU ROCK!

Nah. It's just putting them where they belong. They aren't mine, they're just in my care until they find a home.
We've had so many extras come in ( not that you'd know anything about donating extras, Miss Jessica ) that if additional contacts hadn't fallen my way ( thanks to awesome SCS ladies ) I'd be looking for senior centers and nursing homes to take the overflow.

Thanks so much for all you are doing! I will get working on cards and will focus on ones that everyone can send home to their kids. I usually make kid cards anyway! I know how I am spending my day off tomorrow!

I'm going to an all day crop this weekend and my goal is to make cards since my stash has been depleted over the last year. Send me a PM with your info and I'll make some for you to send as well. God Bless you for doing this. It's a wonderful gesture.

I just want to thank everyone for your help with this project for the troops...
I have asked my church to help me make some xmas cards as well..
My brother said that we will be able to send cards to his troop and a few others that are there.. and I will be sending some to my one cousin who is in the air force and another one who is in the navy ..
so all your hard work and support will be going to alot of service men and woman all over ...
i know lot of others are doing the same thing cause i have donated alot to others and when my brother and cousins told me how homesick everyone gets and I can just image what its like for the mom soliders to miss a bday or special event in their childrens lifes...
so for all of our readers who are service woman or men ..
GOD SPEED TO YOU TO COME HOME SOON... AND GOD BLESS YOU FOR GIVING ME MY BLANKET OF FREEDOM AND TO LIVE MY LIFE WITH LIBERTY, FREEDOM, HAPPINESS TO PURSUIT THE JOYS THAT ALOT OF YOU GO WITH OUT WHILE GIVING IT TO ME
SO THANK YOU
and thank you ladies for helping me start this

Belle, I went digging through a stamping drawer and found some card fronts. Most of them are Christmas / winter holiday but there are a few others as well.. would you like them?
If so, I'll put them in a seperate baggie and pack them up in the box that will be headed your way soon.
