Cardstock Suggestions!!
Fellow SCSers,
I love buying the variety packs of cardstock but I'd like to get into a swap and 3 sheets of each color doesn't give me much to work with!!
I would like to buy a few single color packs but I'm having a difficult time deciding which colors!! I have all Soft Subtles and Bold Brights inks as well as Basic Black, Not Quite Navy and Close to Cocoa. I'm going to start "collecting" the Rich Regals inks next.
Sooooooooooo...which colors are your favorites? Which do you use most? Which go well together? WHAT SHOULD I BUY??!?!?!!?
TIA - Jess

What I did was buy a variety pack of each family. Then as I would run out of one color I would buy the whole pack of that color. Eventually I ended up with a full pack of each color- over a long period of time. Start slow and let it grow!

Rich Regals I love:
Ballet Blue
Night of Navy
Baroque Burgundy
Forest Foliage
those are my favorites-I love the Navy with many colors-think it looks great with the mellow moss from SS. Ballet Blue looks good with lots of the greens.
Forest Foliage and Baroque Burgundy I think are soooo elegant-love monochromatic cards matched with US Vanilla and some gold (I am thinking of holiday goodies)

I did the same thing Joy did and it made it easy and less costly to start accumulating the colors. My most used color is Mellow Moss.

I'm going to sound just like Stanphs above me, but I agree with everything she wrote. I too started with assortments and have moved to single colors. I also would definitely go with Mellow Moss. It goes with all the soft subtles and also rose romance, rose red, and not quite navy from the rich regals. Also works well with many of the earth elements for fall/masculine cards.
What about black? I use it a lot as a layer to add some punch to a card.
And my current favorite for bold brights is green galore. It's bright and fun and goes great with brilliant blue, tempting turquoise. I also use it a lot with more whimsical stamp sets with combinations of pink passion, lovely lilac, and only orange.
It's a hard decision, but you really can't go wrong! There are really only a couple colors that I DON'T use.

I agree with Susan - Mellow Moss and Not Quite Navy look great together!
I also did the assorted packages and filled with full packs as I went along.

I guess it depends on your tastes. I LOVE Gable Green cardstock. I think it is a good green color that goes with several color groups. It's grouped with the brights, but I also like it as a subtle too. Also I love Gable Green & Ballet Blue (my favorite blue shade). These two are also paired on the Color Coach. Do you have one of those? If so, maybe looking through that & finding some of your favorite colors & then colors that are matched up with it would help you decide on which to order.

I did the same thing - bought the variety pack and as I ran out, bought the full pack. My favorite colors right now are Eggplant Envy, More Mustard and Mellow Moss - so I've bought 2 packs of each, since I've become stuck on those colors. I have some colors that I've never even touched in over 6 months, so I know I won't be buying those. Also, since it's getting close to Halloween, I've stocked up on Only Orange and Basic Black. As Fall and Thanksgiving approach, I'll be stocking up on the Earth Elements. ~Pam

I bought 3 packs of each color family. That way I had enough to get me started for awhile, then as I have run out I have replenished with a pack in just that color.
My favorite colors are baroque burgundy, forest foliage, sage shadow, and real red (not paired together, obviously!). I must say that lately I have been obsessed with soft subtles, despite the fact that it is officially autumn.

I'm with the consensous(sp). I bought the variety packs and as I ran out of certain colors, I bought the full packs of those colors. My color selection definitely varies by season. Over the summer I used exclusively bold brights. I've started using the Earth Elements and Rich Regals now that fall is here. At this point, I seriously need a better organizational system before I buy any more CS.

Me and my DD use mostly BB for ANY season... they are our favorites and the colors are so cheery!! I don't use many of the SS though, but started using more RR lately. I too bought full packs 2 of each color group and then as they ran out bought what I ran out of first. Every party I go to I order at least a pack of cardstock, but now my "file crate" has runneth (sp?) over. I need to find new system to "file" my cardstock in. I seen in one store I went to they had a Sterelite container that had 2 drawers in that you could file things in. Might try that then the dust and dirt will stay off and out of my cardstock files!

Another vote for the variety packs and replacing w/whole packs on one color. I've just started doing that!

My absolute favorite color combo is Mellow Moss with Perfect Plum or Pale Plum. Although, I've been making fall cards with various combinations of More Mustard, Old Olive, Really Rust, and Ruby Red.
I started out the same way you did and just purchased a pack or two at a time. Now I only have 5 colors that I haven't purchased full packs for...and they are SS colors that I never use anyway.

Since x-mas is coming you may want to consider more holiday colors like glorious green/forest foliage, red, navy...just a thought.

I am an old olive and real red kind of girl. And yes, it is my favorite color combo, and any stamper looking in my closet will tell you that.

I bought several packs each of the mixed colors...
With my first order I put in, I put the paper to match the inks I got in my starter kit (minus black).
Next order, I ordered 4 inks and 4 papers to match (plus the black!).
My intent is to do this for every order....inks with paper to match until I have it ALL!!

I use these colors the most:
Rose Romance
Barely Banana
Mellow Moss
Lovely Lilac
Lavendar Lace
Real Red
Black
Bliss Blue
Cameo Coral
Close to Cocoa
Ok...so it's not just a few, but I reach for these colors the most.
