I opened my catch-all closet searching for batteries today and 3 things fell on the floor. It got me thinking. I research, spend money and lots of time organizing my craft supplies, but the rest of my house is a disaster. Is your home as organized as your crafting area? And if anyone has a great idea for organizing their spices, I would love to hear it! ;)
My house is more organized. If it's the other way around or my house looking like my craft room, my husband would divorce me
I clean my room everyday but I think the reason I clean is to prepare myself for my next big mess
I made this layout of my scrapbook room. It's a peek into my room. My craft table is like the layout, you can't see what you want to see until you lift/move something that's above it http://www.scrapbit.com/2008/05/26/moving-to-round-4/
the house is waaaayyy more organized than my crafting area!! I took over the office as my crafting space and my DH will walk by and shake his head..LOL
I am a messy crafter!! Just can't help it!!
I start out organized- but then papers a'flyin- stamps are out everywhere- i have two desks- b/c i can't stay on just one!

My stamping space is more organized. It is the one room I really have spent the most time "thinking" about. Now when I am stamping it isn't clean but everything does have a place for when I decide to clean up.

Both, I can not concentrate if any part of my house is messy. When my house is straight my mind is straight and at peace where I can create, or try to create .

I'm like you, Vicky, in that I do spend more on ways to organize my craft room, but it's a real stretch to say anything at my house is organized.

My home, definitely. I can find any book within minutes (and we have a LOT of books, over 100 cook books alone), also anything in the kitchen, the picnic blanket which we haven't used for 2 years, anything music/DVD/CD related, anything for the garden, letters, bills and so on. But I spend so long trying to find things I have put down rather than put away in my upstairs room and I don't know where to start looking for 2 unused pairs of embroidery scissors. I guess the one crafting exception is knitting, because all the patterns are well organised and almost all the wool is in a big toy chest.
I think when it comes to organizing for me, it depends on how much I like what I am to be "Organizing"....so, my craft stuff is ALWAYS being reorganized. Well, my paper crafts anyway. I have a desk that is frequently being reorganized....the rest of my house, well it sort of depends on my mood. If I get sick of my disaster kitchen, it gets reorganized. When I run out of room in my bathroom for my stuff, I have to reorganize (I just did this after I got a whole bunch of jewelry from a party I hosted). I would say my craft stuff is probably more organized on the whole. Its sort of about what i love, if that makes any sense at all!
Both - I hate to look for something or having to move stuff out of the way to get to it. If my house is organized, cleaning is easier and faster, so it gives me more time to stamp.
At a party, someone needed a fresh battery and told them to look in our junk drawer, she opened it and gasped - she had never seen a junk drawer organized and labeled. The rest of the guests had to look and they decided that we are sick people for being so organized. With that said though, we still loose things - either it never made it to the right drawer or in brain fart I put it in the wrong place.
My crafting area is more organized. I can't function unless it is. I put everything away after every card or layout I make. Parts of my house are organized and some I really need to do something with.
Is this a trick question? LOL Neither are very organized for me.
That is exactly what I thought when I read that first post. My whole house is disorganized.
I am doing better though. I just organized my dining room, part of my living room, and part of my kitchen yeseterday. But it will be bad again by tomorrow, probably. I don't even want to talk about my craft room. I usually say "the mess inspires my creativity, I have to be creative to find space to work."
My craft room is definitely more organized, but I would say that both are organized - after stamping, organizing is my next passion! We currently rent, so I can't make as many (or the type of) changes that I would like, but I feel that the house is relatively organized, though minimal labeling. In my craft room, however, everything has a place and most things are labeled!

My craft area is way more organized then my house but I am working on getting my house organized. I guess I should be doing that rather then being on SCS! ;)
Definately my craft room!!!!! I have spent almost this whole month along with the dh, remodeling my craft room and it still isn't quite done. Doing the little tweeking right now. Even though I have gained space, since we knocked out a wall, I have lost desk and shelf space as I decided to cut back on those so I am desperately trying to find a place for everything, especially the things I use every day. My poor dh makes something for me and down the road, I decide it doesn't suit me anymore so out it goes. I am always organizing my craft room and I try 1/2 has hard to organize the rest of the house. The closets are my nemisis. We have so much stuff in them that just sits but I can't get rid of any of it because it is either memories or something we might need later. Some days, I really consider either throwing out everything or running away.
Definitely my crafts! If I don't stay on top of them, I'd never be able to find anything I need to do a card! But, it's a work in progress, so I'm always trying new ways to keep it all together.

Neither, I start to clean and organize home and then in the middle go start a craft project and vice versa. Maybe I should put a lock on the craft/office room.
I would have to say my house and my craft room are pretty organized. Vicky I use the carasol spice racks from tupperware. I have 2 of them and they are great. Spices will always be organized. I hate opening a drawer, cabinet or closet and its a mess.

I call it organized clutter in my stamp room. It doesn't look so pretty but I can put my hand on anything I am looking for. I am a bit "green with envy" at some of the rooms I see that people have. They look like they are never worked in.

I would have to say my house is more organized, well atleast until my two boys get home. I was just cleaning my craftroom today. I'm donating alot of items to my oldest son's school yardsale, all $$$'s go to their 6th grade fieldtrip.
Neither is well organized, so I can't really choose. I do have good intentions to work on both, but everytime I go into my craft room, I start to play.

This makes total sense to me. I'm the same way. I also obsess over my DD's wardrobes and their clothes are always neatly organized and reorganized.

Maybe tupperware doesnt sell it anymore but if you go to Ebay and search Tupperware Spice Carousel a few will come up. I was just there so you should find some. I got all my spice items on ebay. Actually I think all my tupperware is from ebay.

Holy Cow... I dunno either!!
Absolutely my craft area is better organized! My problem isn't organization, I know where everything is in my home. My PROBLEM is wall to wall *stuff*. I am a confirmed *pack-rat*!! I have taken an oath to myself to clear something out of the house weekly til my problem is solved. As a prev. poster said, a lot of it is *stuff we might need*. Ya'll don't laugh, that was drilled into me by the greatest pack-rat of all, my mother. We almost never had to go to the store for anything except food and clothing. She could *pinch ole Lincoln* til he squealed! Yes, she was a young housewife through the Depression. It horrifies me to think if this recession, that *we aren't in*, bottoms out. Sorry, I apologize for the bad thought.
Original OP.. remember to date your herbs/spices. They do have a shelf life, some shorter than others. Also, keep them away from heat. I have mine on a double-decker lazy susan by Rubbermaid, bought about 25 yrs. ago. I've always loved it and it still works great!
May GOD bless all, Sandi
