Default mass producing cards

I am looking at getting a bunch of cards done within the next couple months. Anyboday have any good tips how to mass produce cards without having them all look the same? Any tips would be great!

Well, I make lots of cards that are all different by picking a basic layout and then varying the colors, stamps, corners, ribbon, whatever. The layout is always the hardest part for me, so sticking with something basic and varying all the other stuff allows me to make a bunch of cards in a short period of time.

HTH!

One Sheet Wonder (OSW) Templates can make it faster and easier to produce a larger quantity of cards. Here are some links I hope you find helpful. I included some to my gallery only because I don't use OSWs the way most folks do and I typically only get 4-6 cards from the template but it let's me create different looks quickly.

Some OSW samples from my gallery (I tend to use bigger pieces so it gives you a different perspective) These links will show you five cards made from one OSW:

I do mine very similar to the link above. However, since I need to see the card before I start making several of them, I make one, adjust to make sure I like the looks of it and then continue mass producing. I don't usually make several of one card, but it works well for me when I am making invitations and such.

Thanks for the link. That blog entry is helpful when making duplicates of the same card but I think the OP did not want her cards to look alike. But many of the tips can be transferred to whatever method (such as OSW) one uses to get lots of cards made in a short amount of time.

I esp. liked the tip about using a background when making multiple cards 'coz it is a quick way to get texture onto a card.

I usually come up with a protype then cut everything and put them together. I generally make 24-48 of the same cards...I support several other things besides the troops.

Assembly line is key. Pretend you're Henry Ford. Break each thing down into simple, quick steps and do each step separately.

I tend to make 10 or so of each card I make. That way, I have plenty to send out and can also use them in swaps. Honestly, if you want to make cards super fast and have ten different cards, swap with your girlfriends. We do a swap every month (and include an envelope so we're never left with an odd sized card and no envie) and change the themes monthly. We also meet for dinner, so it ends up being a girls' night out.

If you want to make them all yourself, choose complimenting colors of inks, card stock, and patterned paper. You can use the same pattern/layout, but change the colors around. One sheet wonders are also an easy way to do cards that have common items, but ultimately look different.

I take a different approach. I pull out a pack of SU! designer paper and mass-produce a card mixing up the papers. Good way to use up dp that has been laying around for a while.

Thanks for the great information. I am really trying to push myself to MAKE cards and not just admire all my supplies. I actually managed to make some Valentine's Day cards this year before the actual holiday - success!

Megan, I have this same problem. I love admiring all my wonderful supplies. ;-) Sometimes I think this is why it takes me so long to get anything done. I have to try out a multitude of things before I can decide on something.

I like sheetloads of cards. I use the directions with a couple different color ways and just have them handy to add an image when I want to use it.

Just click on the "archives" to see all the layouts.

I am not the greatest card maker and all but I tend to use the layout challenges and then vary that. So I check out something like the Card Sketch Forum and then choose a layout. Then I make up several cards by varying the paper, the stamps, ribbons, etc so although it is basically the same card but it doesn't look like it because I change things a little. Say I need a card for a nephew then I use the stamps he is into such as sports soccer and coordinating inks/papers etc and then I need a card for my niece who is into girly girl so I use my pinks/purples and princess stamps etc to make hers. It is the same layout but looks so much different. Even if you do a clean and simple card--you just change the papers and stamps and colors. I find that this works for me---hope it might help you out.
