I am wanting to make a list of which dies I can buy for the regular sizzix machine. Also, I would lke to make a list of what texture plates will work in it.
Please help me out if you know what will work. TIA
i have the same question... i know cuttlebug will work in the red sizzix with the adapter. but that is all i know. i will bookmark this page to see what people say.
I use Cuttlebug dies and folders with my Sizzix too. I was wondering about the Nestibilities working in it... does anyone know if I need that mat thing with them?

Dies- WILL
sizzix
sizzlits
quickutz
cuttlebug
nestabilities
I just ordered the nestabilities so I haven't used them yet, I was told they do work in the sizzix to cut, but you have to have the mat for embossing around the edges.
I have heard some have been able to get Spellbinders Dies to cut, but I'm not sure about the embossing the details. Spellbinders is the company that makes the Nestabilities. I'm sorry, I don't know what the sandwich would be for the use in a Sizzix. I have the Wizard. I think it will just be a matter of playing around once you get them.
Good Luck and sorry I'm not much help.

It's called the Sizzix System Convertor. It's a metal bar, one side is magnetic. The magnet hold the convertor to the underside of the Pressing Plate (easy on, easy off).
Another option is to stack two of the white cutting plates on top of the die or embossing folder (you'll use a total of three white plates, one below the item being cut or embossed, two over the die or folder). You won't use the System Convertor then.
http://www.Sizzix.com has pictures (you can order online there); Sizzix also has an e-bay store (that link is at the bottom of the Sizzix Home Page).
I ordered my system converter from the Sizzix ebay store. Got it as a buy it now for $6. Great deal as it retails for $14.95. Last time I looked they were all on bids, but I would go through all the pages of listings. My buy it now was farther down the list...like page 6 or 7.
By the way, I did like Nancy when I first got my Original Sizzix but it works WAY better with the system converter. The 3 cutting mats are a touch too thick and you cannot get the proper pressure.

Thank you for your information. The 2 plates didnt work, I have the magnetic convertor that I use with the embossing folders. I took the problem to my darling husband, explained what I was trying to do. He placed the cardstock on the one white plate, the quickcut ontop (cutting side down) an embossing folder on top of that, leaving the magnetic convertor in place, pulled down the handle and PRESTO! It worked!

okay I have a dumb question... I own the old sizzix machine. I was just at CK convention and found a lacrosse die from Quikutz, made for the Revolution. from the above list it shows that quikutz should work but i have tried to get it to cut and it won't do the whole image. Please help....

If you have the old Sizzix machine, you might need to move the die to the side of the cutting mat, near the edge. I think there is more pressure on the edges than in the center. You also need to use the Converter and the little square Adapter. If you're using the Big Kick or the Big Shot, you need to use the multi-purpose platform with both tabs, plus the 2 cutting pads. HTH.

It seems as though it won't cut in the center of the die. Do you know if the quickutz works in cuttlebug??? i have a sil who owns a CB.

Usually (not always) the 'incomplete-cut-problem' is cured by shimming...soimetimes computer paper is enough, sometimes cardstock handles it. Different stuff for different dies! Place the shim on top of the die.

Nestabilities are Spellbinders Dies..... They will work in the Origional Sizzix machine and emboss as well. .....Here is how to get you old sizzix to work with Spellbinders dies.... including Spellbinders nestabilities.....
TO CUT:
Put your magnetic converter on the sizzix machine
place your white sizzix mat down in the track
place your paper down on the white sizzix mat
Place your SPELLBINDERS DIE FACE DOWN ( the side of the die with the ridges or blade) on the cardstock
Place the Spellbinders Spacer Plate on TOP of the Die
Place three pieces of cardstock on top of the spacer plate
Scoot along to cut...
TO EMBOSS:
Remove the three pieces of cardstock
Remove the Spellbinders Spacer Plate
TURN THE DIE OVER LEAVING THE CARDSTOCK IN THE DIE
Place the TAN SPELLBINDERS EMBOSSING MAT on top of the die
Place the three pieces of cardstock on top of the TAN SPELLBINDERS MAT
Scoot along to emboss.
This sandwich works like a charm ..... how do I know this..... I am Stacey and I own Spellbinders and I demonstrate this sandwich at consumer shows all of the US. I also wrote the sandwiches. I just finished a DVD which will be available soon for all to view and follow along.
FYI for all...... Plummers gasket is NOT the same as a Spellbinders tan Embossing mat..... you will indeed get a different embossing result with the gasket. The density of Spellbinders tan mats are different then Plummers gasket. :p
Wow, I'm glad I found this thread. I have a sizzix machine at home that barely gets any use now. Might have to get the adapter. I've been wanting to do some embossing but didnt think I could.

Diana,
Try making a 'shim' from copy paper or cardstock for your Sizzix. I have the red machine and love it, but ran into a problem when I was trying to use a snowflake die cut. After finishing up the die cut with a craft knife on several, I remembered that sometimes you just need to add a single sheet of paper under the white cutting plate. It took me several tries, but each sheet I added made the cuts more defined. Evenutally (after about 3 sheet of copy paper) I got a perfectly die cut snowflake!

Stacey,
You are the best! Thank you so much for your WONDERFUL product. I LOVE Nestabilities!
Will the purple or black Sizzix silicone mat that is used with the texture plates work as well? It looks like it's made of the same material as the tan mat.

Thanks for the advice. I have been playing around with the new cuttlekids dies but 1 out of 4 works. i guess i will go back to sil's house to use her cuttlebug... hehehe
The silicone mat and the embossing pad feel different. They are also different thicknesses.
The cuttlebug embossing folders work in the original sizzix.
Spellbinders work GREAT in the original sizzix. Instead of using the black adaptor's that Sizzix sells I use the white converter from Spellbinders. Much easier to use.
