I know there will be quite a few that disagree with us, but I agree with you. Trim the Tree was the only one that I liked. I didn't even like it well enough to buy it. I like the leaf wheel, but I don't own the wheel handle so I don't want to make that big of an investment for it. I liked the jewel tone papers, but again not enough to buy them. I LOVE the circle background stamp because of the gallery here on SCS. That's it.
I agree too. I'm a new demo, so just trying to get ready for Christmas and I don't like very many of the cattie sets, so was hopeful the mini would fill in for that, but no, I'm not impressed.
Oh well, this will be a challenge to see what we can do with these sets we don't like....and like so often happens, I bet I'll end up loving some of them!
I celebrate Chanukah - so you can imagine my disappointment! I am in the process of drafting a letter to SU about it. Not one stinkin' Chanukah set. And to make things worse, even the hostess set is Christmas themed! I was already disappointed with the new catty - only 1 multi purpose judiaca set (I stopped counting the X-mas sets at 30!), but I thought that I would give the company the benefit of the doubt and wait patiently for the holiday mini. That patience was not rewarded.
So, not only am I disappointed with the holiday mini, but I have decided to boycott it. It sucks to feel left out. I felt like crying when I looked through it.
Are you sorry you asked? ; )

Yep, I feel the same way about the mini. I really expected more since usually there's one I REALLY can't wait to get. I like some of them, but not enough to buy. What a disappointment it's got to be for the demos.
I am sorry about the Jewish sets (or lack there of) but REALLY like som eof the other sets. I REALLY like Trim the Tree and Cold Play (I can see a lot of non-card items made with that set, and lots for scrapbooking) and I LOVELOVELOVE the jumbo snowflake wheel and tag sets. I like that they are not all Christmas and include some funny/sarcastic ones in there as well as more traditional.
Sorry for those that don't like it-but I am waiting til September 1st b/c there is so much I can include some otehr goodies and put it in as a hostess order by myself.

Hmmmm, and here I thought it was just me that was disappointed! I saw my Demonstrator's mini a couple of weeks ago and got really grumpy. Given all the remarks on this thread, is there a way all these comments can get in front of a senior SU! person? Whether it's Jewish or Christian, I was disappointed in the selection of both the mini and the main catalog this year. I am a Christian, and I always make my Christmas cards with a spiritual theme, and the pickings were pretty slim this year. I complained to them last year about Easter as well.
I don't have the mini in front of me, but I liked lots of the sets in it. I'm definitely getting Hey Ghoul Friend and the tag set. I really like the set with the cardinal in it too. And I might get the Thanksgiving set . .. not sure yet, have to see some better samples than the ones in the book before I am sold on that.
I just got my mini too and thought there were some cute sets but nothing I am just dying over and having to have. That's a good thing though, I am just closing a party and am trying to whittle my wish list down to something manageable. I couldn't handle HAVING to have something else at this point!!!
I thought it was pretty good!! Especially after the summer one that only had one set in I liked. But then I don't ever seem to be in the majority with my tastes......LOL. I guess there's no pleasing everyone all the time.
I was mildly disappointed with the holiday mini catalog as well. Why only one Halloween set too? And I wanted more religious holiday stamps too.
Plus, I have one question - what is up with that tinsel wheel? It is just about the ugliest wheel I've ever seen. (I did like the jumbo snowflake wheel but I have the blizzard one, so I can't justify that purchase).
On a positive note, I like the mini alphabet stamps - mostly the one with the @, cent sign (good for faux postage) and $. The whimsical set is cute too.
I agree with a previous poster - you can't please everyone...
I agree. I saw the holiday mini and thought it was ugh. Looking in the gallery changed my mind. Now Christmas Cardinal and Silent Night are on my list. I just don't like what the catalog artists do with the stamps I guess.
I'm not even Jewish and I noticed the lack of Chanukah sets this year. We have several Jewish friends, so I try to do "Holiday" cards rather than Christmas cards. Last year I used "Frosty", so this year I really wanted something more formal. I'm having a tough time finding something that I like to fit that bill. Very disappointing!
I only liked one set out of the summer mini so I was patiently waiting for the winter mini. I am so happy that I did not spend my money on the summer, more for winter. I like the background stamp On the Spot and Sweet Spot, but will probly wait to see if it makes it into next years IB&C. I love Silent Night and can not wait to get it and make a card for a good friend who is a Minister. I am also using it in my Christmas Stamp-a-stack. I have a friend who loves snow men and she fell in love with Cold Play. I like the sayings in Wishes Awash. Like Leaves Awash, but I don't have any Jumbo access. I think Tag Line is soooooo cute. The only ones I just don't like are Reindeer Print, Damask, And Borderline.
There is nothing that "grabbed" me either in the holiday mini. DH loves the sarcastic tags in the Tag Line Set. He wants me to get that one. We'll see.

holiday mini
As usual, I am in the minority here. Trim the Tree was the one Christmas set that I didn't like. I am ordering Silent Night, Christmas Cardinal & Hey, Ghoul Friend. I'm wheel challenged, so I always skip past those.
Well all in all, I am disappointed with the set offerings this year, both in the mini and the annual catalog. After "trim the tree", I think I'm pretty much done with SU for the year. I don't want anything else. I keep looking through the catalog, hoping something will pop out, but nothing does.
Well, I guess I'm the exception, 'cause the list I made up while waiting for my mother to get her hair done totaled over $175. Gulp. I'm a demo, and I look at what will "show" well, but I really only buy what I myself will use.
BTW, visualize the Tinsel wheel embossed in silver, "snaking" around a scrapbook page!
I was not too impressed either, but that's a good thing, because my wish list from the big catty is a mile long! I don't want to want anymore right now!
Our Demo gave us a sneak peek at our workshop last week and I didn't see much that I was overly excited about either. I only saw one set in the Summer mini catty that I wanted to purchase as well. Now I have had IFB on my wish list for the last 3 workshops and haven't managed to purchase it yet. I guess I will have to host a workshop myself and earn it.
Well I may be part of the minority here, I fell in love with almost all the sets. This is the first mini a while that I have actually loved most of the sets. I could go broke on this one... ;)

You know, at first I was disappointed too, but then I looked at the gallery and spent more time examining my catalog and I realized that there were quite a few things that I liked - they just didn't pop out at me at first. I think someone mentioned that maybe they didn't like the artwork shown in the catalog and that definately could be the case with me. And when I looked through it with my stepmom she pointed out 2 sets that I hadn't considered at all since they aren't my style but somehow having someone point them out to me made me look at them differently. Although I will agree, that previous years did seem to have more sets that I really fell in love with, I will still be spending some (probably too much) money on the mini.
Hmmmm...I was really surprised at the responses. I really liked this mini catalog, unlike some other mini catalogs. I fell in love with some stamp sets immediately, like the Tall Tales Alphabet and the It's Academic set--I thought I could use those sets alot for scrapbooking back-to-school events. I've heard from another demo who use the Damask set to redo her dining room walls and is getting rave reviews. The Silent Night and the Bold Snowflakes have grown on me after seeing them demo'd with the Liquid Applique--I'm still ooohing and aaaahing over them! Open your mind and check out some of the SCS galleries. You might be surprised!!
I am not thrilled with the holiday mini either. I was quite disappointed. Oh well. I adored last year's holiday mini. I guess you can't win them all. I like the tall tales alphabet and the little alphabet sets. That's it.
Never sorry! ... opinions are needed to let SU! know what people want to see and if you want SU! to make changes they need to know what isn't working for you.
I am a Demo and Jewish to boot! I have been VERY disappointed over the years with the Chanukah (happy to see someone spell it the same way I do) selections and the judiaca sets in general. In fact, the kids from Festival Fun (great set from last years mini) are back in the IB&C in 1 or 2 of the Christian sets...go figure! My home does celebrate Christmas for my husband so I adore some of those sets and the general winter sets, but I do get very sad when I feel dismissed and left out... I completely understand!!! On the other hand... I LOVE the mini. As a scrapbooker I fell in love with the alphabets (all of them) and the 12x12 papers. Also love Cold Play and the jumbo snowflake wheel to name a few. I just premoted to Supervisor so I will get to pick out $100 of free product (thank goodness)!

I have to say that I was really excited when I saw the Christmas Cardinal set. My father has been gone for five years and without going into the long story, whenever my mom, sister or I see a Cardinal are reminded of him. My mom's first stamp purchase ever is this set--she is sending out her first handmade cards this year! I would like to send the Christmas Rose cards, so I'll benefit from it as well. I also love the Hey, Ghoul Friend set!
1.Girls, you have to look at this in a positive note. If you don't like anything, that's less money that you will spend. I try to do Christmas cards in the summer when I have time, so I have already started.
2. I am Jewish as well, with a Catholic husband. I have two sets now (the one with the 4 stars, and I think Festival Fun). I would probably like another set, but I can't say that I feel hurt. I did my cards last week with a set I already own.
3. I am not a demo, so I don't know. Are you required to buy some from each mini? Or, would you just rather get a new set? I guess I don't make as many cards, and have not exhausted all of my ideas. I'm still using Crazy for Christmas.
4. I have to agree that I don't like much, but the tree does seem neat. I liked the idea of embossing the last swirl. I also agree that the tinsel wheel is really ugly. Judging by what I've read here, I guess I have good taste, since I agree with all of you!

Thank you for your post. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE SU and, although I am not a demo, I am a pretty good customer (and will continue to be, just not with the Holiday Mini). I also have Festival Fun (and I did LOL that they seem to have converted in the new catty), but was hoping for a more sophisticated Chanukah set to use this year. Maybe in the next IB&C?
Yes, the positive side is that I can continue to purchase things off my wish list, rather than add to it at this point.

I'm a demo and will not order anything from the holiday mini or from the regular catty (christmas sets, I mean). Even after looking at the galleries, I'm just not wowed. However, I did get the Along the Lines hostess set, which has a cute set of 3 very tall trees with a tiny celebrate on the bottom. I'm also trying to be creative and use Wonderful Words and LIttle Pieces and other non Christmas sets to make my holiday cards this year. Cheaper in the long run! Interestingly, so far none of my customers have ordered any holiday items. I'll have to see what happens with the mini. (I'm mainly a hobby demo and just sell to a few friends).
I was also annoyed not to see a Chanukka set as I have many Jewish friends. Even the hostess set in the holidy mini is a set of Christmas stamps, which may not be very impressive to a Jewish customer. I think SU would say that it offers what sells, but I still think a current Chanukka set is a necessity, at least in the mini!!

As a demo it's exciting that there are so many different ways to appeal to our customers!! We are all different and that's why there are so MANY stamps set available to purchase. I must be in the minority here but....I love the Holiday Mini!!!!! Don't care for Trim the Tree, or the Halloween one; but...I love Raindeer Print, Damask, Christmas Cardinal, Silent Night, Season by Season---these are so classy. Also love the big alphabet!
I've never had a customer ask for a Judiac set---but I agree, we should have more to choose from---for all religions---Let SU know how you feel. They do listen!!!!
I'm not real fond of the Holiday Mini. I was really excited to get it, and then I opened it. The only set I plan on ordering is Wishes Awash. Otherwise - no thanks.
