I recently bought one of these, and LOVED it. Worked grea the first couple of times I used it. I was making Xmas cards with it, used it for one, turned it off, set it down, got the next card ready, picked up the gun, hit the switch.....and nothing happened. It quit working!! That was 2 days ago. Plugged it in later that day...nothing. Plugged it in yesterday...nothing. Plugged it in today...and it worked! has anyone else had problems with theirs before? I'm not sure I want to keep it if it is going to be tempermental like that. Very hard to want to demo it to customers if it will only work sporadically...how embarassing would that be?!?!? Any suggestions? TIA
Danielle
I've had my SU heat gun for about 8 months now and I've NEVER had a problem with it. I vote call SU and ask for a replacement. I don't know how long you've had it, but thats not right and sounds defective.

I agree! Do not delay; call.

Mine quit working on me about 3 months after I bought it. I called DS and they referred me to the company that made it. That company replaced it, but it doesn't say Stampin Up on it. I was a bit upset about that as I already had one that didn't say SU on it and I bought this one to have a logo one. Anyway, they will replace it.

Well, I dropped mine (in front of at least 6 customers) and it would not turn on! I had broken the switch. My husband took it apart  and fixed it so that when you plug it in, it is on. That was my old embossing gun that didn't say SU, when I became a demo I bought the new one and still have the broken on as a back-up. I would call SU and report this problem. I bet it has a short in the switch and you NEED a new one!!
It's definitely not safe to use. Sounds like it's shorted out. :?

I thought that was weird too! I just wanted to see if this was an ongoing problem or just a fluke. I was hoping for a fluke! thanks! By the way, it just arrived on Sept. 27th! It's BRAND NEW!! When it quit I had only used it 3 times prior to that! I'll call in the morning! Thanks again ladies!
Just a tip about embossing guns...another way to fry a perfectly good heat tool is to point the barrel at a straight angle, directly down toward the paper. The hot air is bounced back directly into the heat tool, contributing to the likelihood of literally burning the motor...best to hold the tool at a slight angle to allow the air to flow away from the barrel.
I agree with Betsy. And, I believe I've read instructions about using the little foot that comes with it to set it down to cool. Again, the wrong angle will cause it to overheat.
