Just remembered it is Teacher Appreciation Week tomorrow.
What are you ladies sending to school with your kiddies?

I keep forgetting. I will have to get my dd to make a card for her teacher and I will think of something for her to give.

I had to make and send in all my stuff early as we are headed for a family vacation tomorrow! I say thanks to almost everyone the kids have regular contact with (you have to know my kids to understand this one) so did:

2 - card totes w/8 cards each-- main teachers
8- 3 x 3 notecard boxes with 6 notes each --all the specials teachers
4- bound post it note notebooks with pen attached --nurses, guidance counselors

Oh, and I was in charge of DS's class Mother's Day project, so had to prep for 25 coaster picture frames and send all that in, too! Fortunately 2 stampin' friends will swing by and help the kids put them together.

Pictures of most of these are on my website.

I started a thread about the very same thing last week. I got a lot of great ideas and I have already made a Post it note holder, a pen holder, altered a large wood clothes pin and have plans to make more stuff as the week goes on.

Aggg Guess I should have done a search first before posting. Maybe a mod will combine threads.

At what age do you stop?... Well I don't mean stop? but we just moved to the US educational system last year and the kids are Middle School and above so they don't really have a Main teacher etc.

I would like to do something for the teachers but I don't want to accidently leave one out etc... and obviously I have to balance it out - yeah! every teacher deserves an all expenses paid vacation however, my budget is quite a bit smaller than that!

Because of spring programs this week, my daughter's school is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week next week. Each day is a different theme:

Monday - "Delight your Teacher" - with a snack or treat
Tuesday - "Pamper your Teacher" - with soap, lotion, a good book, etc.
Wednesday - "Bless your Teacher" - with a thank you card
Thursday - "Treat your Teacher" - with a small gift card or certificate
Friday - "Teachers' Lunch Out" - the school is taking all of the teachers out for lunch and parent volunteers are covering their classrooms while they're gone

Of course, they don't expect you to give something every day. I think it's a really nice way to let the teachers know we notice how hard they work.

I made a very pretty gift bag (IMO) and it in I put a large size post it note holder and a post it note keychain with a pretty pen for each of my son's Pre-K teachers. I didn't do anything too fancy, since school will be ending in about a month. The really special gift will be coming at the end of the year. (I'm in the process of making each of his teachers monogrammed note cards in a tote. If my flower bouquet turns out the way I plan- they will each be getting one of those, too.)
I don't upload my creations generally, (Mostly since I have only so much time to create, but also since I cannot compare to the talent here!!), but I'm very proud of my little gift, I may just have to upload it when I get home.

I'm on the board of directors at my son's preschool and the I made a 10 pack of cards for each teacher FROM THE SCHOOL. There are 12 teachers at the school, so it was a lot of work. I did have a couple of class moms help out though. There are some that I like more than others, but I'm happy with them overall. You can see them in my gallery, here... Anything new and exciting being made for teachers this year? I get bored doing the same old thing. My son's teacher likes coffee. Maybe I should come up with something with a coffee theme, since I have a couple of the retired sets. Any ideas?

Wow! I'm so jealous. All I had time to make was a batch of peanut butter cookies. (the teacher loves them)

Our PTA (at the elementary school) sets items each day such as today was Nuts for You, one day is markers (You Left your mark on me). Of course, I had to take this opportunity to stamp something so I took snack size bags and filled them with nuts and made bag toppers with an oval and scalloped oval centerpiece with the elephant from Wild About You and the sentiment Wild About You stamped in the center. They were really adorable (if I do say so myself)..not sure how I'm going to package the markers that are tomorrow's item.

I've left out my daughter's poor high school teachers...just not sure what to do. I always make gifts at Christmas and Thanksgiving, but feeling pretty overhwhelmed with all the end of year happenings so couldn't think of anything quick and nice for 8 teachers. Any ideas?

I am making these for both my kids' teacher appreciation luncheons this week:

Peppermint Patty Brownies

1 cup butter, softened
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
1 Tablespoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 cup cocoa
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 (13 oz.) package chocolate-covered peppermint patties (York is the best!)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Spread about 2/3 of the batter in a greased 13 X 9 inch baking pan. Arrange peppermint patties over top. Carefully spread remaining batter over patties. Bake for 35 – 40 minutes or until edges begin to pull away from sides of pan and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean (top will appear uneven.) Cool completely before cutting (if you can wait that long!) These brownies freeze well and taste especially good when warmed up in the microwave for a few seconds!
Note: If you substitute another chocolate covered peppermint patty besides York, they might melt into the batter and not taste as good!

I will also give my son's elementary school teacher a thank you card, signed by him and an assortment of all-purpose cards for her to use. She is a substitute he has had for 2 months (his regular teacher is on maternity leave.) My daughter's middle school teachers will not receive anything this time (but I gave them nice gifts at Christmas!), except the brownies at their luncheon!

That looks good! Are the brownies pretty? I'm thinking of making one batch and separating it into smaller portions for all the teachers. What do you think? Would it look nice? I'm sure it would be very tasty!

Don't mean to hijack, but I faithfully handcrafted gifts every year. I stopped when I made 14 handmade/handstamped bookmarks for my kid's middle school teachers (staying up all night to finish them) and then later found them all shoved in the bottom of his locker at the end of the year!!!

Now I donate to the luncheon and leave the craftiness to the elementary folks.

Thank you! and I don't think it was a thread jack as such - we all can carry around so much crafter's guilt/mother's guilt - thanks for helping me not add to mine!;) I will speak to the school and see what they need.

I am a high school math teacher, and gifts from students are generally few and far between. When I do get them, they are very meaningful. Honestly it doesn't have to be much...even just a card would be really appreciated. Teachers are not thanked nearly enough, especially at the higher levels. I would also say that you don't have to do something for every single teacher. If there is one particular teacher that has really gone the extra mile for your child, or that your child really likes, something special would really mean a lot to that teacher, even if it is just a thank you note.

I have not sent anything this time but at Christmas we got verbal thank yous and only 2-3 cards out of the 16-20 gifts that we took in so your average is better ;)

At our school we did little tings for our teachers each day. You can see some of them at my blog http://cherylhorton.typepad.com/inspire_me I also made 45 small tins filled with M&M's with a sticker label on the outside that said thank you for all you do and the top was a circle that said their name and "for inspiring others when you are a-"round" A corny play on words. You know the tin is round, M&M's are round, I know silly. Each top was a circle cut with my nestabilities and then a scallop mat cut with nestabilities. Then I glued them to the covers. That little thing made them so happy! Good luck!

Hi everyone! I'm looking for suggestions for a gift for the teachers/staff this Christmas. I'm starting out from scratch because last year's chairperson got mad at the PTO and me and SHREDDED everything. We have no catalogs, notes, anything! I do know that last year everyone rec'd a popcorn bowl with snowman soup, maybe a Borders card. I'd like to do something different but I am not sure what! We'd like to stay within $4-6.50 per person (I know, not a lot, but we make up for it in May). Any suggestions? THANKS!
