I've been out of the loop for a couple of weeks (Ivan). I noticed that the rating option is not available. Is this a glitch or a permanent thing? If it is gone, I'm all for it!
TIA
C

There have been a couple posts the past week or so asking Daven to turn the rating system off. Most felt that we gave 10 because we wouldn't want to hurt someone's feelings - thus defeating the purpose of the system.
There was some debate over the issue a little while back. I can honestly say, I won't miss it. It seemed that 10 was almost always used (I'm guilty, too) so it didn't have much significance. I think a high number of comments usually indicates that many who view the card feel it worthy of comment. If there are a lot of comments on a card I investigate as to what made it so. I often find out something about it that I had missed when viewed as a thumbnail in the gallery. Having posted cards, I never paid atention to the ranking but really valued the comments. I think it was wise to drop the ranking.
Well done, Daven! I don't think the rating system will be missed!

I look at lots of cards, but do not leave comments very often because I felt I had to also leave a rating. But rating a card seemed so subjective because something that I might like a lot would not appeal to another person and vice versa. I am very happy to see the rating option turned off and will definately be commenting more, now that I don't feel that obligation to leave a rating.
Thanks to Daven and the SCS team for making this change!
