Talking Lets Make a How To Use Ribbon List!!

I really am big on ribbon I love love love it.

BUT

I am not terribly creative with using it....I tie knots, tie it around the card, might tie a bow instead of a knot.

and here where I use it straight and flat across the card too

How do you use your ribbon...
especially your ribbon scraps--all those little pieces!

Here is a card I found while doing some surfing and thought it is a great and unique way to use a small scrap of ribbon with a brad! Never really seen this before!

I made a card with a half circle for a sun and used different colored ribbons for the rays. Sorry, I don't have a picture of it, I gave it to a friend of mine.

Thanks Angie for linking my card. This is a great idea for a thread. Here are a couple more ideas for ribbons. If you look at the name under my username... It explains my passion.

I love ribbon too! In fact it's hard for me to not put ribbon on a card. Here's one I did that was a little different for me.

If you have short bits, you can tie them round a chipboard frame or monogram.
I made a lovely flower by doing a sort of ribbon embroidery, punched holes in some acetate and threaded the ribbon through to make big petals. I'll upload a photo later...it's not on the laptop.

Here's a show I did using ribbon in a variety of ways - making flowers, frames, backgrounds - I did it on LO's but you could apply the same techniques to cards.

I like using ribbon in the corners of an image, like on this card: Peachy Keen by stampwithdiane at Splitcoaststampers

Using small scraps with the SU picture hanger thingy from the hodge podge hardware kit:Lovely Reflections by stampwithdiane at Splitcoaststampers

I think this is my favorite way to use s shorter piece of ribbon. I used wide grosgrain here, but it works really well with the ribbon originals: Love You by stampwithdiane at Splitcoaststampers

Here's a card where I used a scrap of wide patterned sheer ribbon as a focal point on a card: Christmas Ornament by stampwithdiane at Splitcoaststampers

I also like to use knotted ribbon as a flower center, like in this card: Pink n' Pretty by stampwithdiane at Splitcoaststampers

Great thread! Thanks for starting it, I already have new ideas:

Here's some more to keep it going:

add it to a clip:
Always a first DD Challenge by lbirus at Splitcoaststampers
Pailsey Parade by lbirus at Splitcoaststampers
tie it to a strip:
Basket of Celebration by lbirus at Splitcoaststampers
When life gives you lemons by lbirus at Splitcoaststampers
add it as a tab:
Rosey Framed Minis by lbirus at Splitcoaststampers
double it up:
Cutie Pie -n- Whimsy Organizer by lbirus at Splitcoaststampers
Tie it to another ribbon.
Stripe-a-licious by lbirus at Splitcoaststampers

I also love ribbon but hardly use it just because I don't know how! I really think that Faith (markiesmom) needs to do a tutorial on how she makes her beautiful ribbon....

Hint hint Faith lol!

Here's what I did as a sort of ribbon embroidery. Umm - it was for our anniversary two or 3 years back so I don't remember all the details, but I do remember I punched holes with an eyelet punch in a small square of acetate, and threaded the ribbon through. Looking at it now reminds me that I have seen some lovely iris-folding technique done with ribbons, so there's another possibility.

Great Ideas!, I went to a store last year that had a great idea for ribbon. Duplicate the look of a memo board that has the criss crosses that you can tuck pictures and such behind, only for the card tuck a small tag behind one for the ribbons with your message, such as Thinking of you. It is really easy to make and you can use up smaller pieces. Cut various lengths between 6-10 inches. Alternate the criss crossing with different colors and patterns of ribbon and use cordinating eyeletts or brads at each end to hold the ribbon, take the end of the ribbon wrapped around to the back of the front fold of the card and secure with tape, then glue a cordinating color of cardstock on the back of the front fold to cover the ends. If anyone wants a scanned copy email me and I can send it to you or fax it over.

Default Smashing ribbons?

Love all the ideas, but I do actually mail my cards, so what does one do with all the lush ribbon bows, the curled ribbon candle flames, etc., to keep them from being crushed out of recognition?
