I'm posting this early (thursday night) as I may be very busy sewing tomorrow. I hope that's okay.
It's Friday and time for another LIMITED SUPPLY CHALLENGE!! Im your guest hostess for this week! Remember what it was like before you had a whole room full of stamping supplies? Let's see what everyone can come up with from this list. Remember that you can use any combination of things on this list, but you cannot use anything not listed below. When you upload your card to the gallery please put LSC24 in the keyword section and post a link to this thread so we can all go look. Everyone is welcome to play -even if you've never done a challenge before...please join us!!!
Inspiration for this challenge: When I first started stamping (not too long ago) I only had a few stamps. I mean literally. I was trying to make Christmas cards with truly the very basics. I always had the most horrible time, because I didn't have the supplies or the knowledge to LAYER and MAT things. I used just one sheet of cs, and whatever stamps I had. There were no mats and layers and all that...just the card and whatever embellishments I could round up.
So here is the challenge: No layers at all.
The Supplies
Stamps: any
Cardstock: 1/2 sheet, any color you like, just big enough for a regular size card
Ink: any
Accessories: ribbons, hemp, brads, paper clips and other household items,
colored pencils, blender pen, or anything else that strikes your fancy, as long as it is not paper.
I very rarely make a card without layering. But I did find a few in my gallery. The last two have other papers on it, but it's very little and used as embellishments not layers. I probably won't have time to make a new one until next week. I'm going away for the weekend for my 1st anniversary!
I should have time to sit and stamp this weekend. This one will be fun. I haven't done a single layer card in soooo long. Great idea!

Just when I think I finally got the hang of it... "must use layers on EVERY card...." here comes Becky telling me to move backward 5 years!!! NO LAYERS?
Thanks Becky, it was actually fun looking at my stamp index and trying to figure out which ones might "stand alone." I decided to try a really plain card. Just paper, rubber and ink. No embellishments even!!! GarnetJ's Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
OK, I made a card, after all! I stayed up last night to make it after I was inspired by the sandals in thecardpixie's SC33. No more stamping. Now I'm off to pack for my weekend!
my main id (I use txblueyes for everything, so I don't forget...) used to be yellowrose. Until we were looking at mobile homes one day, and the guy there asked me if that was my email because I worked at the yellowrose. I was like "no, what's the yellowrose?" haha, I assume since you are from AUstin you know, but in case you don't, it's a "gentlemen's club". My hubby knew, and he just let me keep thinking that was a cool screenname. I changed it to txblueyes after that. I didn't really want anyone around town thinking I was a stripper. lol
What a great day for this challenge. I got in the mail today my first trade, Daisy, I couldn't wait to use it. I also tried out a new BG. I sprayed my paper with Clorox clean up. It look's hot!
Here is my entry for this challenge. I did this same card last week with a set of seasonal trees. I thought this would look great on a single layer of cardstock with no ribbon (I am a ribbon fool so that took restraint) or any other type of embellishment except the snow and glittering in the trees. I tried daubing versa lightly on the trees so I could apply Irridescent Ice EP and it looks like blobby in places. I love Love as a Tree as it gives so many useful options.
I got three done and when I saw the challenge I sighed at the thought of no layers. But I managed to pull a faux layer look for the first one and Im happy with it, I think! My friend absolutely loves the last one and I say she's easily pleased because it's very fast to make! #1 Faux Layers
I'm really pleased with the way this came out. It's much nicer in person. I don't think I cheated by punching out the square and coloring behind it on the inside. It's all from the half sheet. What do you think?
This is my very first limited supply challenge and it was an easy one. I think the Loads of Love sets provide all the detail themselves and no layers are needed. Hope you like it:
