Shaker card help?

I was making my first shaker cards this past week and ran into a little problem. The shaker beads I was using ("Beedz" brand) kind of stick to the window sheet instead of rolling around nicely. Could it be my beads? I tried rubbing the window sheet with a dryer sheet to reduce static but the dryer sheet left a residue. Is this a typical problem? Any solutions?

I'll be interested in the answer because I made my first shaker card at a workshop I hostessed. My demo made it with an acetate sheet that is made for 3-ring binders. (We used the Fishy Friends set and put the crab behind a window with sand in it. It was great. Anyway.) She had used microbeads in her sample copy and they rolled fine. What did you use for the window material? I think she got the beads at Walmart; don't think they are SU. Is there plenty of room between the window and the card?

I used a SU window sheet. There should have been plenty of room since my beads were pretty small - some more like blobs than beads - maybe that's the problem? I didn't think they would all stick to the window sheet though. If you shake it really hard they do fall off but then they stick again.

What did you use to attach to the card? My demo used doubled sided foam tape. I'll ask her if you don't get an answer here, which I'm sure you will.

I have one answer for you: Swiffer cloths. Get one of these wonderful things and when you do shaker cards rub the acetate front and back gently with the cloth and also pour any confetti or beads into the cloth for a minute, patting gently, before you put the stuff in your shaker. You also need to rub the cardstock that is going on the back of your shaker piece to reduce the static electricity. You'll find this helps immensely, though nothing gets rid of it all!

i also found that no matter what i used the static was terrible. Even when you try and separate the Window sheets they stick terribly. I tried drier sheets and it left residue as well, i tried the embossing buddy, but same thing, looked like i took baby powder across it. ( i was using those micro beads with the double sided foam tape or paper punches)

The swiffer idea sounds great. Does it leave a residue at all???

No it doesn't leave a residue.

The trouble with your dryer sheet is that it needs to be a USED one to work and not leave a residue!! If you are in a highly static area, you can wipe your acetate with a damp cloth and cut the cling too!

Even if your card is completely assembled, you can still combat static by rubbing a USED dryer sheet on the outside of the window -- it will help alot!!
