Supposed to go to Myrtle Beach either Jan or Feb, don't know when yet. I'll just have to let you all pick a date and then see if I can make it. Thanks for spearheading!
Oh boy, oh boy! You are right, this is waaayyy overdue! We always have such a good time when we get together (and we get to stamp with a designer for Kitchen Sink and Jessica Lynn stamps;) ). Thanks for getting this together, Tammy!
I will be out of town the weekend of Feb. 9 and 10, but have already requested the weekend of Feb. 22 and 23 and March 8 off work if either of those dates are the majority, so I'm in for those dates!
Well, hello there strangers!! I will check back after I look at my calendar, which I have to make! I know that Feb. 9 & 10 are out. Great-niece's b'day on the 9th and Jeff got us tickets to see WICKED on the 10th. (WHOO-HOO!!)
Hope everyon had a great Christmas and has a happy and safe 2008! Talk to you all later!

So excited for another get-together!
Later in the month is preferable to me, too just because I'm going to be so busy at work at the end of January, and have to work 3 Saturdays in a row because of the workshop. Plus I have to have DT submissions for Jessica Lynn done at the end of January, too. If it's later in February, I'll have more time to have something ready!

I've voted (Sat, Feb 23 for me) and will hopefully be able to make this regardless of the date. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed. LOL.
Will this be for a shoebox card swap or a shoebox 3d swap?
Hi Michelle!
In the past, we have not specified. You can do whatever you want. We've done everything from candles, composition books, treat boxes, coasters, door hangers, ornaments, and cards at the swaps we've done. I have heard of some really large swaps where there's been a limit on how long your project can take. In October 2006 we did a swap... someone remind me, were there 20 of us? We were there for probably 8 hours!!! So we either need to cut-off at a lower number, or place restrictions on how long the project can take or how complicated it is. All details to work out when we know more as far as dates and how many will attend. Hope to see you there!
I voted as well, anytime, anywhere, Lets just stamp!! Hey all you girls who voted already, nice to see some of you that I haven't seem for awhile. Can't wait to find out the date and time, Oh and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
This is my very first post. I just recently joined. I'm a complete newbie with the stamping/cardmaking hobby - but I know I'm going to love it. I live in Akron. But before I vote on one of the dates - what is a shoebox swap?
Hi "sewnmachine" and welcome!!! We'd love to meet you and help you get started with this addictive hobby! Don't worry about voting for a date, the poll is just to get an idea of which date will likely work best. Voting doesn't commit you to the swap. Once we've chosen a date and time and place to have the Shoebox Swap, stampertammy will post a thread with the details, and you will have a chance to sign up then. Here's a general idea of how things go at a shoebox swap, hope this helps. If you have any more questions, you can always send Tammy or me a private message and we will be glad to help!
Shoe box Swap
Design a full card or 3-D item, and make a sample.
Put together a list of instructions to make it.
Precut enough supplies to make your item for each person and place materials in a baggie. (If there are 10 people make 10 baggies of supplies). Include the directions in each baggie, just in case there isnt enough time for a person to make your item at the actual swap meet. Baggies should include pre-cut cardstock and embellishments.
Place the rest of your items (stamps, ink, punches, markers, WWC, pencils, etc.) and the baggies into a shoe box. All individual items in your shoebox should be labeled with your name.
When the shoebox starts, Each person will set up their stuff at a station and then everybody rotates around the room and makes each project. You can go at your own pace that way.
Please bring your own adhesive, scissors and bone folder. If your card requires special adhesive such as glue dots, please include that in your shoebox. What to Bring
Bring enough supplies for each participant plus two extra sets to be used for parts when people mess up. You may also want to bring your camera. Just in case you dont have enough time to make all of the projects, you can snap a picture of the sample so you may complete it at home. Youll also want to take pictures of all of your SCS sistahs!
Your address book so you can add all your new friends names, phone numbers, and email addresses!
Bring your own adhesive, scissors and bone folder. Label these since they will be moving around.
A snack/beverage to share with your sistahs
Other Important Tips
This is for adults only, so please register only if youre 18 or older. Please make other arrangements for children.
Feel free to bring your Garage Sale" items for trade (or sale, if it is a retired item) with other attendees.
Make sure to bring enough for each person to make your item. We will have a final # a week or so before the event.
Bring everything needed for the card; stamps, ink, embellishments, hole punches, cutting tools, scrub & mist...etc. Label everything with your name! Each person should bring your own basic adhesive to carry with you.
It goes without saying (or this case saying), please bring your best work. (thanks to stampinguru from the Central Florida Shoebox Swap II, since I cased her instructions!!)
Patti - Thank you soooooo much for your detailed explanation :-D The whole thing sounds like fun. I'll watch this thread for the date that everyone decides upon. I'm old, so I can come anytime.
*breating huge sigh of relief* Thank you, thank you, thank you Patti for posting that! I saw the message earlier with the "what is a shoebox swap?" question and just didn't have the energy to get something posted. Too many late nights of stamping and computering lately, I guess! Seeing as how it's after 11:00 now, I should probably get to bed! Thanks again for posting that! It's absolutely perfect details! (and thanks to stampinguru, too!)

Hi sewnmachine. It's nice to meet you. My daughter works in Fairlawn so I'm down that way occasionally. I'm not a spring chicken myself and many times feel that I'll be busting a party because of my age. So I completely understand. Perhaps if some of us seniors go together, we could encourage one another.
I have a silly question. I have never done a showbox swap and I have a friend who is a stamp a holic that wants to come. Actually I might have 2 or 3 and we need to know what to do. Hee hee.
Hey Tammy . . . It looks like there are more of us in the NE Ohio area then first thought... I'm really excited about this adventure and can't wait to hear what date and location is chosen. I love meeting new people here on SCS and have had the opportunity to link up with a couple of them in person. Can't wait to meet you and the other ladies!!! Darlene

Hi Darlene! I can't wait to meet you, too! I've seen your cards often, and you always have such nice designs! I'll be anxious to see what you (and everyone!) comes up with for the swap! I have always done a 3-D project, but I think this time I'm going to stick with a card. And to be perfectly honest, I think everyone is going to learn how to use the 3-Step Daisy set from Kitchen Sink Stamps on that card!
Just a note... I had someone ask me privately if we want everyone to specify in advance what they're going to do for the swap so that things aren't duplicated, etc. There is no reason at all to tell ahead of time what you're doing. (Some of us won't decide until the last minute... not pointing any fingers at GRETCHEN!) ;) Even if there are "duplicates" (for example, 2 people decide to do candles or a composition book) they're not ever going to be exactly the same, so anything goes. The only thing I would caution is that we may have to place time limits on projects depending on how many people we have sign up to come. We can't have a project take an hour to make if 20 people come to the swap, KWIM?
So we have a few more days for everyone to vote on the date, and then we'll make an official announcement of the date and hope to nail down a location very soon after that!
