Can someone please explain to me what a blog is for and how it works and what is the big deal about ratings for them?

Well, people blog for different reasons. I started about two years ago when they were just starting to become more well known. I did it to stay in touch with customers after a few moves. Then, it was a way for me to get in my daily writing fix (still is)...now, I do it for a way to "get my name out there" and to help enable all you other stamp lovers. Part of my DT fun is showing what I can do with the companies products.

Overall...blogs are a TON of work (to post every day) and a person really has to be doing it for the enjoyment and for themselves...the rating thing...I did it for a bit (It was nice validation) but I got too hooked on my numbers going up and going down...so I got rid fo the rating scale. (I don't mean to say that the rating scale is bad...there are some good reasons to have it...especially if your blog is business related.)

Anyway...I do it as an extension of my "job" AND I do it for sharing my love and excitment of crafting...so it is fun for me!

I blog for a lot of reasons. I have a number of blogging friends and we all read one another's blogs- it's an easy and fun way to keep up with one another.

I blog also like I used to keep a diary years ago. If I've got something I want to write down I might put it on my blog.

I get to share with friends my crafty work and also other things I love, like African webcams.

I guess the bottom line is I blog because I really enjoy it.

i started blogging as a way to keep my clients posted on the status of my website...but a year later the website is still not quite finished and the blog quickly became nothing more than an arty journal which I prefer anyway. I don't know if anyone reads it...but I pretend people do

I blog because I enjoy it. It gives me a creative outlet to share my ideas!

I started my blog back to 2002. At that time, I was crazy about the hits all the time, and made some good pals too. Then one day, I just didn't care it anymore. Although I still keep one for my own but not the public. It's much easy to keep that way. That's my 2 cents.

I guess I'm not suited to blogging because I still don't get it. Oh well, thanks for trying to explain it to a thick headed person.

Everyone has different reasons for blogging which is basically an online journal that can be taylored to whatever you want to share. Most here at SCS choose to blog about stamping and paper crafting...go figure.

I personally started my first blog 18 months ago as a way of making sure I use all those stamps and supplies I had been hoarding. I didn't do it for anyone other than myself and if some imaginary cyber space friends wanted to validate my creativity by commenting on my cards that was cool too.

It's not about the numbers for me. I am not here to jockey for a design team position as some do. I just like to stamp and share it with my friends....both real and imaginary. LOL
