Default Who here is NOT a demo?

It seems like so many of you are demos and I sometimes feel overwhelmed. I just want to know who else just enjoys using the SU! products and stamping for fun.

I'm not a demonstrator and have no desire to ever be one!
For me, it would take the fun out of it.

Default Me neither!

I am just an addicted crafter. I have debated so many times about joining just to get a discount, but I just want to enjoy stamping. I've had the experience before where if your job relates to what you enjoy, sometimes at the end of the day you don't have enough time left to just enjoy the hobby.

Ok, well I am a demo (sorry  ) but I just had to reply to Happy Hearts post! No, no, no....it doesn't take the fun out of it. The fun BEGINS when you become a Demo. There are so many extra things that you get to see and do as a demo. Incentives that you get to take advantage of, not to mention the fun of being able to buy more stamps because you 20% off each order. Of course, I was never a customer. I signed up as a demo at the very first party I went to-I had never heard of Stampin' Up! or any other stamping company before then....

I'm so glad I'm not alone! Don't get me wrong though, I'm glad there are people who do this for a living........and I can imagine it's a lot of hard work--preparation, scheduling, organization--whew! I don't think I'm cut out for all of that, I just like to play!

I'm not a demo, BUT...I feel like the scarecrow from Wizard of Oz, swaying back and forth! I DO want to be a demo! I DON'T want to be a demo. I DO, I DON'T...You get the picture.

The thing that is keeping me from it today is that I'm worried that I wouldn't be able to build a client base. Maybe my area is too saturated with demos already? I have 4 in my area that I regularly order from.

I too am not a demo, I love Stampin' Up!, but I use other stamps as well. I have to admit that I have thought of becoming a demo , but can't afford to spend the money it takes to buy the kit, and not sure I know enough people to make it profitable. So I just stamp for the fun of stamping at the present time.

Happy Heart,

I think that depends on what you want out of it. I have been a demo for a year and 2 months and have only had 4 workshops in that entire time. The only planning I have had to do is deciding what I am going to have them make and getting that together. With the quota being as low as it is, it really is no big deal for me to make. I tell my 9 customers when I am placing an order and then, if they want something, they will let me know. No pressure, no big deal if they don't...its just fun for me. I love doing this, but I don't do it for any goals or for the money. I know lots of people are very serious about it, but for me its just fun doing stuff with my customers and hanging out with my stampin team. But, hey, this is not a recruitment post...I just wanted to get that out there, so no one thought that we were all wrapped up in getting workshops scheduled and such...it just depends on the Demonstrator.

I'm not but my mom is and she is a very nice, generous mommy!!! Also I think it kind of depends on the area that you live in. I know several people in my area that are demos and I would feel as if I was "stealing" customers or in competition with friends and I could not handle the guilt!!! My area DFW area of Texas has so many home party things and so many of my friends and personal circle are SAHM with somewhat limited incomes that again I would feel akward in asking for their money! Also, as some have stated, I also like non SU stuff and have so much of it that I would feel like alot of my stuff is useless if I were to become a demo.

You can always put your next party towards the kit. It's easy since you can pick the stamp sets and begineers will want some of the acessories.

I've been a customer for 2 1/2 years and have bought a lot of SU stamps, supplies, papers, inks, etc. I like their products, but also really like Hero Arts, Magenta, Wordsworth, Inky Antics, and frequently shop at www.addictedtorubberstmaps.com - an awesome website w/ great customer service, frequent sales, and every rubber stamp imaginable under the sun. If you don't want an entire set, but rather just one specific stamp, this site will likely have it. I have to say, it is hard to beat the 48 coordinating inks, markers, papers that SU offers. I wish they would offer more colors - like another shade of orange!!!

I am not a demo - just a crazy woman who spends WAAAAY too much money one stamping products and a few other craft things. I don't do any scrapbooking. I tried but I am just not happy until the ENTIRE scrapbook is complete. I can't just be happy with a page or two.

I'm glad to discover that there are so many non-demos on SCS. I'd like to aprticipate in more of the swaps. I've done a few but have to be very careful becasue so many insist on only SU products. I love SU stamp sets and have nearly 100 (and all the classic ink pads/markers) but most, if not all, of my embellishments and some card stock are from Michaels/Hobby Lobby/Joanns/Walmart. I go for the discount when I can.

There are so many specialized swaps, maybe we can do a non-demo swap using SU stamps but cs and embellishments from any source. If anyone would be interested, I'll post one to the swaps forum.

My friend is a demo. I am just a very loyal customer to SU, ImpressRubberStamps, Stampington, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Wal-mart, AddictedToRubberStamps, etc. etc. etc.

The best therapy a middle aged woman has ever found! That should be the new advertisement for stamping!

Kitty Meow - I would sign-up for a Non-SU swap ... but I would take a bit further and say any stamps for a theme! I love mixing my other collections with SU stamps .. or just using my other stamps as well.

I am not a demo.....not sure if my demo would make less money if I signed under her than my being a great customer. I am thinking so! I spend way too much on stamping things. Last weekend I put in my Stamper 9 club order, went to three stamp/scrapbook stores, buying at least $75 , and then I went to a SU party yesterday and spent $100. So that was a great stamping week, a bad cheque book one.

Whew... my dh has no idea! I could never be a demo, the idea of all that stuff on sale, all the time! Couldn't handle the pressure. :-) that is way I have avoided Paypal and Ebay - I'd be buying day and night.

I am not a demo either. I like the idea of buying what "I can't live without" rather than limiting myself to SU products. I agree, its keeps it fun for me to remain a customer. There are some great stamps out there that compliment my SU sets. Magenta is one of my favorites. I would like to see more non-SU examples in the gallery.

Also not a demo. If I was a demo, I would probably end up spending alot more than I do now trying to stay active. And I don't want to sell to others. So, a good customer is what I will remain!

Not a demo, just addicted to rubber stamping. I like SU stuff, but also use Hero Arts, Magenta, Stampendous and others. Wish SU would sell individual stamps though. I would buy more if they did.
