Everyone Welcome - WT20 - New Ways to Use It Challenge
Hope you all can join in with our new Ways to Use It Challenge. This week we will be looking for ways to use PASTELS. You can make anything you want as long as you use pastels somewhere in your work. I find my pastels have lately been sitting there pleading with me to take them out again...how about yours? Let's get those pastels poppin and also see what else you can do with them!
Please remember to put WT20 in your keyword section when you upload your creations and also to post a link back here so that we can all see them and be inspired.
This is kind of a crazy week here again for me. My mom goes in for surgery today at noon to remove lymph nodes in her abdomen as her melanoma has spread so I will not be stamping for at least a few days. i hope you all can play along anyways and hope to look at your cards when I am able.
I use my pastels all the time. I also have tons to do these next couple of days but I should be able to fit some stamping in so I will do the challenge anyway.
Julia, I will be praying for your family and ecspecially for your mom that she will make it through o.k. and for the doctors who are performing the surgery, that they will be able to do the surgery skillfully and be able to fix what they need to. {{{HUGS}}}

Thanks for posting this challenge during this stressful time for you. Add my prayers to the list...I am sure all will go smoothly with so many who will be praying for you all.
Thank you Julia for your challenge during a very busy, stressful time. How would your mom like us to send our pastel cards to her wishing her a speedy recovery? We could mail to you Julia and then you could hand deliver to your mom. Please p.m. ( no hurry) if that would be ok. In the meantime, know we are thinking of you, your mom and family. Nancy

I was just thinking the same thing, your fingers are faster then mine.
Julia, {{{{Hugs}}}} to you and your Mom.

That would be so lovely. Thank you! I will PM you with my address.
What a beautiful idea! I will get out my very lonely pastels and send my card to you for your mom. Best wishes for the best outcome and speedy recovery. Hugs to you Julia, and be sure to take care of YOU right now too.
This was a fun challenge. I'm not very good with pastels as I haven't really tried them much. This is the first real project to use them. I enjoyed the challenge but need lots more practice.
To make the background I filled a pie tin 1/4 inch high with water and using the end of the applicator scratched some chalk into the water. Then I carefully laid the cardstock in the sater and pulled it out carefully(you do not want to leave it in there very long).
Julia could you please P.M. me your adress so can mail this for your mom?
Pastels--one of my favorites for those soft colors that compliment card stock choices so well. here's a baby gift card that I make a lot. I still cling to my mint melody for that soft baby green color. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Thanks everyone for your prayers. I really appreciate it. Showmestamper has offered to give you the address if you care to send a card. Please PM her if you wish to send one. Just so I don't totally highjack this thread, if you wish for more details and to see a pic of my mom, here is the thread....
Here is my contribution to the WT 20 using pastels. I have to say that I use my pastels more often than not for tile coasters and magnets. I just uploaded my tile picture and it is pending as of 12:22pm EST. Sorry I am a day late but I had to work yesterday so I wouldn't be a dollar short! LOL
Thanks for looking!

Julia, I just posted my Pastel card for WT20. It was a challenge, since I usually use pastels for baby cards. I used my stampin pastels and soft subtle CS. I mailed my card to you today for your mom. Hope everything is going ok for you. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Nancy
here is my card for the challenge,,, I have never used my pastels on such a bright card. I am surprised at how this turned out and it was actually fun to do the shading and layering of colors. I will likely try this again and with some more of this paper. It has texture to it so it really grabs the chalk. I never liked to do chalk on regular paper because I felt like it was messy.

I have one made but Julia it's not going to be good for your mom, a little off season. I'll do another card to send to her but I need an address so when you get time you can PM me with it. I hope she's feeling in good spirits and take care of you too during this stressful time. Here's my card
My name is Madeline. I am a pretty new demo. just became a demo in feb.
My pastels have been sitting in my closet since. I read that you use your pastels all the time. Can you PLEASE explain to me how to use them. I know you can use them on versamark like they show you in the booklet. Can you tell me any other way.
PLEASE !
It's taken me a while to link my picture back to this thread, but here it is. I had fun doing this. I do the same sort of technique at school with the kids with oil pastels. A lot messier though :p

Hi Madeline,
Thanks for joining our challenge thread. I've attached a great list of pastel ideas I found in a forum search. Hope that it inspires you and everyone else. Thaks for posting the question. This is what this challenge is about...finding ways to use what you have and help demos find ways to encourage sales of the product.
Better late than never. This is a bookmark I am sending to my daughter in college. She's a little homesick, and this may make her feel better. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

When I first got the Angler set, this is what I envisioned I could make. It turned out better than I hoped. This card is approximatley 90% pastel use. Hope you like it. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I have pastel colors on the background. Going off the master list I had no idea we were supposed to use our pastel chalks. Sorry, I hope this still fits the bill. Thanks for Looking!
