I know how to mount stamp, now another "?"

Ok I now know how to trim up my stamp the right way and how to mount it.
My other problem is how do I align SU's little sticky image.

I can never line mine up with my stamp.
I always see people stamp images perfecly in a row, without overlaping.

I can't do that becuase I either have the image cockeyed, to low, to high, off to the right or off to the left of the stamp.

How on earth does one do it.

I used to try and lay the stinky image down and use that as a reference, no luck. So I tried laying down the stamp, still no luck.

I wish all SU's blocks were acrylic. Be so much easier to see, when mounting.

I use the Stamp-a-ma-Jig to align my images. It works wonders---you should try it out if you get a chance, i can't be without mine!

Agreed, the Stamp-a-ma-jig is the tool to have for this kind of thing. Love it!!

Another SAMJ fan, its so wonderful. Keep a Staz-on image on a piece of squared vellum in the stamp set and its always there for you.

I do use the Stamp-a-majig if I really have to be precise. Usually I take a lot of care when I'm mounting, first to make sure the rubber is straight, then when I apply the label. Before actually mounting the rubber, I decide how the label will be oriented so the rubber will be able to go on the block aligned with it. Generally with SU stamps I line up the SU copyright wording so it goes along the bottom edge of the stamp block face. In almost every case that means the stamp will fit the block in the same orientation.

Lots of times I mount things so when the stamp is rubber down the image is squared up in the lower lefthand corner. I do this with alphabets a lot. That way it's really easy to "peek" around the block and see where the rubber is...

Most of the time I just look from the side to try to align it. I am not a perfect stamper, never have been never will be. If I wanted perfection (in terms of alignment not design) I would head over to Hallmark.

However, I too own a SAMJ and on occasion (more than likely altered art) I have been known to pull it out

But usually it's the bigger stamps that I stink at.
The smaller ones I seem to be able to align the image with the stamp just fine.
It's the bigger ones I have a problem with. I know stamping does not need to be perfect it should look home made. I usually fall in the messy look rather then home made. I think I just need to calm down more. LOL.
