Hi! welcome to all of you to SCS.
I host the Technique Lovers Challenge (TLC) on Mondays, and I will try to explain a little bit about the challenges. I will use the TLC as an example...
Every week I post a "challenge".......simply an invitation to make a card using the suggested technique. It is not a race to see who can make one first and it is not a contest to see who makes the 'best' or anything like that. Sometimes the technique may be new (if not to you, maybe to others). Sometimes it may be something you have never done before, but never got around to trying. Or maybe it is something you have done before, but "forgot" about the technique. Anyway, it is really just a way to get stampin'!
So what happens is I post the technique for the week on Mondays. I either give the directions right there in the thread or post a link to the directions. Then people go stamp a card using the technique. Then they post a link to their card in a new entry within the thread. To add a link in the post in the thread, first go to your gallery and click on the card. When it comes up big in the window, go to the top of the page where the URL is (the address that starts with
http://www .....)
Click on that with your mouse. Press and hold down the right mouse button, and select COPY. (This is copy the text of the URL in a temporary holding place). Go to the original thread where I posted the challenge and click on
PostReply...this will bring up another window and you can PASTE the link into the text box using your mouse (click in the text box first, then hold down the right mouse button and select Paste). Most people add a line saying Here's mine or whatever. And then hit Submit. Now the other stampers that are doing the challenge can see your creation just by clicking on the link.
The other thing we do to make it easy to find other cards made for a particular challenge is to put TLC## in the KEYWORDS section when you upload it. Substitute the actual challenge number for the ## of course. Like the faux postage challenge was TLC02 so you would put that in the keyword box when you upload it.
Also, there is no "time limit" on the challenges. If you want to do a challenge weeks after it was posted, go for it! You do NOT have to get them done the same week it was posted.
MOnday is the Technique Lovers Challenge...you make a card using the suggested technique.
Tuesday is Color Combo Challenge...you make a card using the suggested colors.
Wednesday is a Sketch Challenge....you make a card with the same basic layout as the sketch.
Thursday is the Ways to Use It Challenge....you make a card using the suggested item.
Friday is the Limited Supply Challenge....you make a card using ONLY the supplies listed.
Saturday is the Scrapbook Sketch Challenge...you make a scrapbook page using the suggested layout.
Sunday is the 3D Challenge...you make your version of the suggested 3D project (not a card )
It is really fun to see all the different ways stampers can make radically different cards that still fall within the parameters of the challenges. I like it because it gets me stampin', and often challenges me to stamp in different ways than I normally do.
To find the challenges, just click on 'forums' in the upper right corner of the screen; scroll down a bit until you see "Splitcoast Challenges" in the left column. Click on that...it will bring up a list of all the challenges.
I hope that helps. PLEASE just ask if you all have any more questions.
