Question Getting published - any advice?

For you gals that have been published -
How do you normally submit your cards for publication?

For the ones that ask for electronic submission - do you just attached your image of your card to an email? One per email or multiple? Or do you put them all in a nice PDF? Do you make more of a portfolio or just send the pic?

Any advice would be much appreciated. I'm very familiar with the process of submitting but I'm just curious what others do and if anyone knows what the editors like to see...

TIA!

They usually have the particulars you described listed at their submissions page at their respective websites, so I just follow their guidelines.

Generally, most just want one image, in .jpeg form, per email. Supply lists at time of submission are helpful in many cases (it can help the editors determine what the colors truly are, and what it will match with, because they often have swatch books). And as Julie said, check their website for what topics they might be looking for! Good luck!

Yep..I just follow the guidelines that they set---every publication is different (some more strict than others) but MOST will require ONE submission per email (if they accept electronic submissions). Hope this helps!

Good luck! I am sure we will be seeing your stuff in print real soon!

Cute avie, Julie!

Just follow the submission guidelines for each publication you're interested in. I've been sending cards (actual physical cards) in to magazines and I've never been accepted. I recently followed an email submission link, and got accepted into a book:mrgreen:

Goes to show you'll never know what someone might like, and if you're getting nowhere on Avenue A, try out Avenue B
