Exclamation Help, I'm drowning in paper...

Hi,
I am trying to reorganize my craft area and I just need to give away/throw away a lot of paper, embellishments that I'll probably never use. However, I never throw away, and I don't really have time to sell on ebay. Does the wonderful SCS community have ideas how I can find a happy home for my leftovers?
Thanks for your help!

If you dont want to get any money back for them, how about donating them to someone who makes cards for a charity that you favour?

or to a playgroup
or a scout troop
or an old peoples home
or send them as RAKS

I am sure the lovely SCSers will come up with some great ideas

You could try a Pay It Forward post. Although that might not really help you as you would be getting stuff too. Maybe the RAK is the way to go.

I really need to do some cleaning too. Oh I have a feeling that some of us may just end up trading our stuff around and around and around!

What I did was hold 4 blog give aways. I filled 4 nice boxes with paper, embellishments and sometimes stamps. Each person who won wrote to me saying that she got way more nice stuff than she expected. It was a good thing!

You can offer them for free in the BST. Just have the receiver pay shipping. I did that to get rid of some SU business supplies and they went fast!

Do you have a local Freecycle group? You can check on their website

http://www.freecycle.org/

You offer your stuff for free and you decide who to give it to. I just recently had a clear out and gave two huge bagfuls of crafty card making stuff away. I chose for it to go to a lady who runs a youth group and they make cards for charity. The group were very happy with their goodies and very grateful!

we have a freebie barn at the dump- I take stuff there all the time! People volunterr to take it out of bags and put it on shelves and tables... there are lots of folks shopping there every Saturday morning!! It makes it easy to get rid of, as the dump is close by.

There are some great ideas here! One more idea is to see if a group at a local school could use some goodies.
My DD is in National Honor Society. Recently, these kids decided to do a service project. They made Valentines for the children at St. Jude's Hospital (the one that Marlo Thomas supports). DD asked if she could raid my stash. She took cardstock, stickers, etc. Even if it was stuff that I would have used, it was okay because I knew it was going for a good cause.

Everything I clean out goes to my local Pre-School. They are so short on supplies, they just love about anything!

Also try a local school, especially with Easter and Mothers Day coming up.

I just cleaned out my stash of papers and stickers and brought a big folder of child-friendly stuff to my parents' house to keep for when their preschool granddaughters (my nieces) visit -- to be their own special arts & crafts materials when they say they are "bored".

but the next time, I'll ask the preschool at my synagogue if they would like it. It's so heart-warming to read all these great ideas!

If you don't want money for it, here are some ideas...
*do a give away... if you have a blog, offer blog candy... no blog, post here and have people send an address... put what you can into an envelope and send it off
*give it to a school, seniors home, preschool
*join the RAK group here on SCS and just send off some small packages to surprise people

Good luck!

My next door neighbor is a primary school teacher (art). She takes my paper leftovers as well as sometimes my packing paper for her classes. She loves the stuff!

I just went thru my stamp/scrap stuff and donated 2 huge baskets to my kids school silent auction... I was amazed at how much money they brought... And the person buying them thought she was in Heaven!!! ;)

It doesn't have to be a school function, any kind of fund raiser would appreciate a basket full of goodies to auction off...

I would bet a local elementary school would love to have a bunch of pretty paper to use for art projects; or a girl scout troop for a 'card making' project (maybe they could help do nursing home activities)....or an ad on craigslist!

Smile Thanks a million

I don't think there is a problem in this earth that SCS can't solve! Of course, I haven't been on for a few days, and I just missed the silent auction. I will definitely send to the SCSer that lost her scrapbooking stuff, my old preschool, etc. It's hard to let go, but I realize that I am not going to pull out my old stuff anymore.

Thanks for all of your input!

My kids go to a story time at the local library ever week. They listen to stories and do some type of craft. When I purge my paper, I usually take them a huge stack of paper to use.

Last week I created a sales page on my blog and listed stamp sets and accessories and have had great sales. Try selling on your blog.
