Default A GOOD example of uploading *merged*

I was just feeling annoyed by yet another upload with very scant information, directing me to someone's blog. The uploads did meet the minimum recipe requirement, so there was nothing I could do about the lack of details except be annoyed and refuse to spend my precious few moments alone to go to yet another blog. Then I found Louise C.! She has some really nice stuff AND better yet, she TELLS about it even tho she also has a blog. Thank you Louise!

I second that!! I hate it when there is no recipe and only a link to a blog. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it when there is a complete recipe and a link to a blog because I will go there for more information but please don't leave out the basic info.

Off to check Louise's gallery.

I don't know all the nuances of the gallery, as I don't have a gallery as yet - is there a reason other than to get massive blog hits?

I don't like uploads with no info either! I don't bother to comment on them as I am one that likes to know the products used to create the card. Without that info, It is hard for me to leave a comment so I don't.

I agree.....it really bugs me when I am looking at a card and there is hardly any information about it. I think I read somewhere that a card is supposed to have information listed about it. I have even seen cards posted with no information at all and it really bugs me when a splitcoast user directs a viewer to their bolg for more information and then I visit the blog and I can't find anything anywhere about the card.

There is no requirement that anyone post any details about their cards when they upload, though good SCS ettiquette is to list at least the card "recipe" (card stock, ink, stamps, and accessories plus any techniques used. This is especially true if a blog address is listed in the description. That way if someone needs the basic informaiton, they do not need to leave SCS to get it.

I agree that without the basic infomation asking someone to visit the blog and leave this site is somewhat annoying. However, it sounds like the card referred to in the OP did list the basic recipe, and the only fault of the person uploading is that they did not post imore details about the card in the description but, instead, referred people to her blog.

I don't have a problem with that. If I want more details I can click on the blogand if not I can stick to the basic infoation provided and stay here. There are many times that information included on the blog canot be included here. For example, I posted a card last night that was inspired by my aunt's shirt, and I asked viewers to go to my blog for a photo of the shirt, which I could not have included here. Sometimes the card maker will also include a tutorial on the blog or other information that canot be easily put into the SCS description.

To me, the fact that someone took the time to upload the card here to share with us and inspire us is a good thing in and of itself, and as long as they include the basic recipe I do not feel like they're only posting to increase their blog traffic.

I don't mind visiting the blog for more details IF IF IF they take you directly to the card from SCS! I don't like having to search on their blog for the actual card I was looking at!

You know, that's a good point, I don't currently link to the specific project. I'll start doing that. Thanks for the pointing that out!

Thank you, Diane!

After posting I thought of some good ways to have something "different" for blog and SCS.
1. Post similar cards in different colors on your blog
2. Post matching items on your blog
3. Post things made with the same paper or stamp set on your blog
4. Tell more about the use of the thing, who it is for, sentiment inside on your blog.
5. Tell more about the products used and where to get them on your blog
I do visit blogs, but as a long time SCS I love having all the info right here-the best stamping source on the 'net!

I actually thought that the OP was saying that no info at all drove her crazy but Louise C. was an excellent example of how to do it correctly. I hope that was correct.

That is exactly what I want to go to a blog and see. Give me the basics recipe for your card and then entice me for a bit more. I love looking at blogs for just the type of thing you mentioned.

I whole heartedly agree with you on this point. Thank you all for uploading all your wonderful creations. I just love SCS so much!!!

And for those of us who don't blog, you get the recipe and (likely) more info than you really want/need when I post to the SCS galleries

I'm always telling a story about something or other when I post a card - and I like to read the stories behind other people's creations when I'm surfing the gallery, too! Not required, but NICE!
