that flower?? I just got my set, and I like all of the stamps except that goofy flower. Is it me or are the petals just way off? I know doodled flowers aren't supposed to be perfectly symmetrical, but still... I'm going to have to put a center over that one every time I use it.
Okay, go ahead Merci-flower-lovers, throw your Saleabration catalogs at me! *ducking*

I know what you mean! I thought of getting that set, but after looking at the gallery and the catalog, I cahnged my mind. It does look a bit off kilter, but I'm sure that's part of the design. It's just my "Monkish" personality traits that make me want to straighten everything out and even it up!
The Merci set is the only SAB set I liked. Mine has not come in yet, so I have not seen the flower IRL. Looking at it in the catalog and gallery, I am sure I will only use it for cutting out and layering, not as a single flat image.
I got that set with my order that I have to go pick up from my Coordinator this afternoon. No one says you have to use ALL the stamps in a set. I can't see how anyone would like all the stamps in any set. I just keep the stamps I like and either trash the rest or try to give them away. I want a few stamps in this set for watermarks, not for direct stamping.

Patti
Point taken, Patti. I do like all of the stamps in all of the SU! sets that I've purchased up to this point. After all the stamps in a set are made to coordinate, so if I like one of the stamps, I'm bound to like the others.
I like your idea of using some of these images as watermarks too.

See, I knew someone would disagree with me, and I would have to reconsider how I feel about it. Maybe after I play with it a bit, it'll start to grow on me. (no pun intended) I'm sure there will be some brilliant uses of it in the gallery too.

That's funny because i like this set and the flower. the flower that i can't stand to look at though is the big one from Embrace Life. Something about it just rubs me the wrong way.... and I know so many folks love it and use it but I just can't get past my own mental block that there is something "wrong" with it. Funny how we all see things a little differently. Thank goodness I have may other flower sets to satisfy my floral needs. I certainly won't discourage any of my customers from buying the set, it just isn't for me
I just used this set for the first time tonight and I really like it. I see what you mean about the flower, but for some reason it doesn't bother me. I kind of like it used as a background.
Merci was not high on my list but I got it anyway. In fact, I got a 2nd one. When I used it, I found that I liked it better than I'd anticipated. Go figure. The flower doesn't bother me...but I didn't use that.
I did not care to much for this set until...I actually got it! Now I have been using it alot and the flower makes a pretty card. I love using it with Pretty in Pink and choclate chip and some Berry Bliss DP. I use the Prisma pencils to fill in the flower and the hearts and it turns out really nice.

Those cards are lovely! It is actually the single flower by itself that I was referring to in the first post. I love the main image and the other images as well. I really like the font they used for "merci" too.

The set is not my usual style, but after using it at my demo's, I ordered it. That flower looks odd because it is not round as we expect flowers to be. It is sort of horizontal, or maybe squashed on the top, to elongate it. It looks really good if you stamp it in a light color and stamp Merci over it in a darker color. HTH.
now I'm intriqued, I just got my set yesterday, but I always go to the gallery for inspiration, sometimes, looking at others handiwork, shows what works best. Maybe, I will have to try the new felt flower centers, to give it some pop

i am starting to wonder if the design of the flower was actually intentional with all the 'build a brads' and pearls and bling that is out there of late...
I actually like the fact that the flower is off kilter, and I was planning on using brads if I felt it needed a center.. but right now I am too in love with embossing so all other techniques have been abandoned..
I'll admit that at times the "perfection" of computer generated images just leaves me "cold", for lack of a better word . . . I don't plan to get the set, but, I like the fact that the art style gives off a hand-illustrated look and feel . . .
