Has anyone experienced this or am I using my cuttlebug plates wrong? My B plates are so scratched up from my nestabilities and other die cuts that when I try to emboss the nestabilities, (you have to have a shim to make it thick enough to emboss) then the plates are leaving the scratch marks on the back of my cardstock???

There is a whole thread over in "tool and products' area on the cuttlebug. People ask and answer questions over there. Give it a look! might help you out.

I have seperate B plates for using my nestabilities and for embossing. They won't last forever but if I just have a set for the embossing folders those will last longer.. lol

Great idea!! I don't have any nesties yet, but I would hate to get the scratch marks on my lovely shapes!! And another great way to use that 40% off coupon at Michaels!!
I also have one set for embossing and one set for my die cuts. When the die cuts set wears out and breaks, I bump up the embossing set and get a new set for embossing.

GREAT idea! Thanks.

You guys are so smart!! Thanks for asking the question and for the excellent idea -- I have an extra set of B plates and I think I'll start using them as well.

I keep one of my B plates neat and tidy by always putting my other B plate towards the cutting surface. I hope that made sense; anyway, it works for me!
I, too, noticed that the back of my latest card was embossed with the scratched up design from my much used B plates. I have a fresh set, so I guess I will have to remember to put one of those on the bottom to avoid this transfer of lines to my cards.
My plates are really marked up too. I put a piece of scrap copy paper between the cardstock and the plate when I am using the nestabilities, it seems to help keep the scratch marks off the cardstock.
Ladies.....It's normal for the cutting pads to become etched with the designs you're cutting. Rotate your pads back and forth, upside down and turn over. Also don't always put the die in the same place on the cutting pad. Move it around so that your plates get etched all over. It will help to preserve them for longer wear. Yes, they do need to be replaced after a while. Provo claims after about 500 cuts if you use the pads to the most area, before needing to replace.
Also, the cutting pads should not crack or break. You may be doing something wrong if they are breaking or cracking. I've had my machine for over a year now and have never had a cutting pad crack or break. I also find I need to replace my cutting pads about every 2 months of use. I do use my machine on a daily basis. Just watch for when the stores put them on sale and stock up then.
I use a green cutting board from the dollar store the exact size and thickness of the B plate for my cutting dies. It works perfectly and keeps my B plates unmarked for embossing. The downside is not being see-through, but I don't have an issue with that. Saves me $$ to spend on MORE STAMPS!
I've seen the C plates at Joanns I believe. I buy mine from http://store.crazyscraps.com/cu1.html I've already went thru quite a few B plates but i always keep my C plate on the bottom of my sandwichs...
