Ideas needed for baby book

Hi y'all! I am in need of suggestions/advice on making a baby book for a gift. A friend is due in Apr w/ her 2nd baby and I'd really like to make a "fill in the blanks" type baby book to give her. You know, one where the pages are all done and all she needs to do is add her own pictures and journaling. I'm thinking a 6x6 or 8x8 would be the easiest. I was also thinking of maybe making it an album to document the baby's Firsts during it's first year, but am not sure what to include and I'm afraid that might be too much work / expense. Any ideas on how to go about this and /or a good line of papers to work w/ would be much appreciated. Oh yeah, I need to make this a gender neutral album as they do not know what the baby is.

TIA!!!

Default Baby album ideas

I have completed three of the "pre-made" drop in the picture albums. I did very generic pages, which included:
* Mom & Me
* Dad & Me
* Introducing (which included a fill in the blank journalling block for the vitals, date of birth, time of birth, weight, length, etc.)
* Bath time
* Ultrasound page (I titled it Womb with a view)

then some basic pages with basic baby die cuts such as a carriage, baby bottle, building blocks, rattle, etc.

When I make these types of albums I try to do around 20 pages for the album and then I include about 10 extra page protectors with solid color card stock in them.

Hope this helps!

You could always do an A-Z baby book...each page or double page LO is focused around a letter (A is for Adorable, B is for Bedtime, C is for Cuddles). You can search for lists of ideas for each letter.

Default Idea's for Baby Book

My daughter and I did a baby book for my niece. We did one for his first year. We made one for when he sat up, first step, first tooth, all the firsts. Even a visit to the Dr., bathtime,favorite stuffed animal,etc. Favorite foods and foods he didn't like with that yucky face they make, LOL!! Then a page with each set of Grandparents. Just some idea's we did.

Thanks so much for all the ideas! I knew I'd get some good ones here.
Now, I've just got to get busy and decide on the papers and embellishments and I'll be all set to get to work!
Thanks again everyone!

I have made them for my children. a 12x12 one month per page with the month as a title at the top, a place for a photo from that month at the top left and bottom right corners. Then I made coordinating squares to make it look kind of like a calendar, when something special happened that day like rolling over, doctors appt, first holiday etc. I put the date in the corner of that square and wrote in what happend, I filled in some of the other squares with stickers..so it is like a running baby book, but pretty to look at and have pictures too.

Default Baby Album - 1st year

I made one for my niece recently, an 8x8, she was born in August. The first page was a pic of her in the hospital, the next month started with September and then I continued with each month from there until this August which I'll end with her 1st birthday. I did each month's holiday (halloween, thanksgiving, christmas, winter, valentine's, easter, spring, mom's day, father's day, 4th of july). LOVE the way it came out and thinking that the next person I know has a baby, I'm doing that. I used the Heidi Swap month stamps and then stamped the year under it. I have to say, I don't normally toot my own horn, but this did come out pretty good!

Good luck! And I'm sure whatever you decide they will love it!

Wink idea

If you are interested in going the 'calendar' route, they sell scrapbooking calendars at your local store. I recently bought one and it has 12 months with blanks for the dates so that you can fill it in. I am pregnant and due next month and bought a calendar. I took belly pictures for the months of Jan, Feb and Mar. Then in April I will start with the baby pictures. I plan on writing in 'milestones' on the dates they happen such as 'rolled over', 'first tooth', and so on... Then, you can make each month have a different theme, such as St. Patrick's for March, Christmas for December, and so on... Just an idea... Hope it helped!

Anyone know where I can get pages that are for Baby's Shot Record, Family Tree, Dr. Visits....etc.? I am making a baby book for my daughter/new grandson looking for pages like you used to see in old baby books. Thanks

The Paper Loft makes Family tree scrapbook pages. The Paper Loft
I have seen the baby pages but I don't recall who makes them.

I actually printed a tooth chart that Baby Anbesol made and I found online, and scrapped that. Also, I did the calendar in the girl's rooms with each of my 2 babies. I kept it on the wall with a pen hanging right next to it, so that I wouldn't forget to record every little first, illness, visitor that first year. It came with great stickers to help, too. Later, I pulled the calendar pages out and scrapped those, but you wouldn't have to. Or you could cover up the cheesy photos on the calendar with blank or patterned paper and scrap in pics from that time frame.

I use Melissa Frances papers for baby books, especially the green, cream and yellow papers when I don't know the gender of the baby.
