Default Favorite Sets to Watercolor

I've just been looking at my collection of stamps lately and noticed I hardly have any that lend themselves to water coloring....I've been so attracted to the bold image type stamps that Papertrey and SU have come out with lately, I've totally overlooked getting any that I can actually watercolor (one of my favorite things to do!).

I'll be putting an SU order in fairly soon, what are your favorite line art sets that I could really do some detailed watercoloring on?

My favorite is still Summer by the Sea - glad it remains on the Dormant List so I can keep demo-ing it!

I got Holiday Tag Team recently and it is a wonderful set to watercolor. I think it may have just retired, though.

This is a good question, because you are right.... not a lot of the sets are really "perfect" for watercoloring. Hmmm. Maybe Loads of Love or even Pocket Fun. I'll have to think on that!

Ohh! I forgot about Loads of Love, and I do have that! I guess I was thinking more along the lines of the detailed realistic sets like For Father from the Occasions Mini Catalog...I'll have to look back through my sets and see what kind of cartoony types of stamps I have.....maybe I won't need to buy anything new....awww....who am I kidding....of course I will ;)

I second Summer by the Sea, I was going to suggest Seaside Sketches also... but it was retired last year. Those are my two favorites to watercolor.

The new SU! catalog has some great new sets for watercoloring! I think they really listened when we said we wanted more of them! Try the new Blooming with Love! I will be getting it! And the new flower set, Morning Song, I think it's called, don't have my catty in front of me. It's beautiful and I love the example in the catty. There is a new one in the new Occasions Mini that demos can order now and customers after March 1. It is gorgeous!!!

I also love the new Father's day set with the old car and watering can! These two images are a must have and I will be using this set in my events with various sentiments, showing my customers that it is not just for Father's Day. Also I will be stamping coasters with the old car!

There is a bird set that I really want also. It has a hummingbird that is at a flower and another little bird in a bush or something. Sorry I don't remember the name. It will be beautiful with watercolors! These are the ones so far that I have gotten or will be getting, because I also love watercoloring!

And do you have Embrace Life? Everyone is watercoloring it with all kinds of mediums, it is fantastic with or without the matching papers!

Have fun choosing!

Yeah, I think Long-Time Friend would be fun. I have it but haven't watercolored it, but I did get some new WC paper and will have to try it! I like this post because it's got me thinking again about how much fun watercoloring is, and I've REALLY gotten away from it lately.

I absolutely love to watercolor with my wwc and blender pens. That has been my favorite technique lately. My favorite SU sets are:

Loads of Love, Boatloads of Love and Farm Fever (retired in 2007).

If you want to get into other companies that are great for watercoloring, try:

Stamping Bella
Rubbernecker Stamp Company
C.C. Designs
My Favorite Things

If you decide to check out other companies, Art Impressions has wonderful watercolor stamps so that you can build your own scene. It is so much fun!

I just made a card with the new morning glory set, Morning Soft, and I watercolored it. I love how it turned out -- SC163 Morning Glory by Clownmom at Splitcoaststampers
