I recently finished taking an on-line painting class and wanted to share with you more ways to use your supplies. These samples were done with paint, but they can be done with your inks as well.
my samples:
up! - I traced the edge of the deco paper onto some scrap cardstock and created a mask. I sponged on black, gray and cream to get the smoke effect I was looking for.
pals - I used painters tape (blue kind) and taped off a small section. The tape willl stick more the longer it is left adhered. You might want to take the tape and stick it to your jeans first to pick up some fibers as this will make it less sticky. Then I painted the area, let dry, then stamped to create the design - the darker blue piece under the ribbon is the "faux ribbon"
royal grandma hug - I used a variety of older stickers as masks then spray painted to create the "XOXO" borders. Check your stickers before putting them on you cardstock; if they leave residue or tear the cardstock when removing them, stick them to your jeans first as with the painters tape.

Tried to economize my time and address two challenges at once. Here is my page for masking and this week's layout sketch challenge (thank you to Salster for her layout).
Thanks for the inspiration!
Holy Wow Cow Chicka!! Your pages are awesome! I think I could try the masking by using the stickers than removing them as your xoxo example. Thanks for great challenges

thanks much my friend! Can't wait to see what you come up with!!
I loved the idea of using up some old yucky colored stickers, KWIM???
Just make sure they aren't the really sticky type that leave a residue. You can stick them to your jeans first to take some of the stickyness out.
 Is anyone else having problems with the gallery?? I have completed my page for the masking but I can't upload it. I keep getting an error message.
Finally able to upload! Here is my page for masking. It is also a progressive page.
I used the blue painters tape to mark my area to be painted. It worked fine but I would advise that you lay it down lightly and not press too much because it will tear the cardstock if left too long or too tightly adhered. (Ask me how I know this!)

Great technique Peggy. Thanks!
finally able to get your page to come up - the gallery or the internet was pretty funky when I checked last time.
wonderful job - loved the border.
sorry it tore your CS; I know it will stick more the longer it is left adhered. You might want to take the tape and stick it to your jeans first to pick up some fibers as this will make it less sticky.
Peggy great idea to stick the tape to jeans first and make it less sticky!! I will definitely try that next time. Having the little mess up just gave me the reason to put the stars on the top! I had a lot of fun putting the page together.
Thanks for the challenge and your dedication to keeping this part of the scrapbooking challenges fresh and fun!

I did that with my "XOXO" stickers also as some were stickier than others. Glad you were able to save it with the stars as I think they really added.
I'm going to add that tip to my OP
thank you for the feed-back; it's always good to hear!;)
This was really fun, Peggy! I didn't have any paint to use so I used my classic ink to brayer on my white page. This was definitely a different technique for me and I will use it again! Thanks for pushing me out of my comfort zone!!
