I just thought I'd share a challenge I gave myself this weekend. I had this large pile of designer paper scraps that I just couldn't bring myself to throw away. So I made myself make as many cards from the scraps as I could this weekend. Attached are my before and after pictures. I am so proud of myself as I make over 100 cards from my scraps. Yes, I spent more than 5 hours over 3 days (Friday 'til now) but I made a lot of cute cards. So what that my pile of laundry is HUGE to start the week?!?
Thank you for letting me share my success--maybe I will inspire you to make something of your designer paper scraps?!?
WOW...I am so impressed...seriously....and beautiful cards
I too can't bring myself to throw my scraps away until I have nothing but little 1"x1" bits, strips from cuts, etc...while I never have had as large of scrap pile as that, cause I tend to hit the scraps first before I use a new sheet of stock...it does inspire me to actually think outside the box for uses for the obscure sheets of paper...thanks!!
Congrats! What an accomplishment - not only did you clean up your scrap pile but look at the stack of cards you now have in your stash!! I am going to try to do the same - thanks for inspiring me!
Thank you for all of your kind words about the cards...I do love making them and using the scrap pile helped provide a good motivation. I only managed to reduce it to about a 1/3 of it's original size, but I am more likely to be able to "let go" of the scraps that I didn't use this time around!
Good for you! I've been thinking that I need to do this myself- the amount of paper I have in my little design space is downright sinful. This is motivating for me!
Amy
I am so impressed by you! Both for meeting your challenge head on and accomplishing your goal and also for the absolutely gorgeous results! If I had one of those clapping smileys I would insert it here! Bravo!
Wow, Kelle, you have the utmost *sticktuitivness*!! :o What a fantastic accomplishment!! I'm sure it helped having such pretty scraps. I do super well to get 2 cards made at a time. Wanna come play? TFS.
May God bless, Sandi

ScrampShopper--good question as to what I am going to do with all of the cards I made! I am a hobby SU! demo and make cards & invites for people on a commission basis when they need special gifts for whatever occasion. I try to keep a stash of extra cards around to sell when they come to pick up their commissioned work. I don't advertise, I just have a word of mouth business, but most of my neighbors know that I have cards all the time, and will stop by when they need a last minute birthday/sympathy/thank you card. So it pays to have a lot on hand to choose from.
Also, I have a goal this year of actually SENDING cards to people. I'm like the starving grocer--I have a ton of cards and am always behind in sending people birthday hello's and the like. So the more I have made, the more likely I am to send them, right? Well, at least that's the theory!!!
daisygirl016--I don't know why you can't see the images...I can on my computer. Sorry about that!
I couldn't see the images last night but now I can. You may just have to try back later.
Great job on the cards! You had some very nice PP scraps. The only problem I have with doing this challenge myself is that I will only make more scraps!
I think I'm going to challenge myself to organize them first then try to use them. There was another thread about organizing scraps that just gave me some mottovation today.
Good job in taking care of that stack. It seriously takes me that amount of time to make just a couple of cards. I have a drawer full of scraps and now I that I see what you can do with the scraps, I feel I can do it too. I have another week off of work, so I will see what I can do. TFS

You've inspired me to try and use up a bunch of 8.5 x 11 paper that I've had for ages. There's something very liberating about using up what you have on hand - and if I have any scraps left from them, I think I'll just "let them go" too. Thanks!

What an inspiration...this is one of my new years resolutions - to use my scraps. I did make some tags from some scaps, but I have a long way to go with my piles. TFS!

You are all very, very kind! The only way I made so many was that they are all variations of the same card--take a dp scrap, wrap ribbon around it, punch out saying, mount all on card base, and voila! A card. My best advice for making a bunch of cards quickly is to have a sketch/pattern for a couple of set size scraps and stick to it. Let the dp change up the colors and use a large variety of saying stamps....
But, after making so many cards this weekend...I just tried to stamp something new and I have no creative mojo. 1 hour later & only one card....
You inspired me. I was making some quick family valentines last night and I only used scraps. I refused to cut up a full sheet of CS or DP(except for my base.)
Gosh! That is SO impressive!! I have a friend who gives me all her scraps so that is pretty much all I use! I mean, I'll buy a few pieces if I have to have something, but mostly I just use my pile of DP scraps!
I'm currently unemployed so all her scraps she gives me are SO very appreciated. hehe It does challenge me to figure out how to best use the paper I have to the most efficient and effective way!
