Default Stampin Space Issues

Here are mine:

First of all, I don't have one. I have a bookshelf full of my stamping supplies and when I want to work I have to drag everything to the dining room table and then put it back when I'm done (which sometimes doesn't happen).

Second of all, I have a very nosy cat. I can't sit down to work without her wanting to be right in the middle, sitting on my project if she can! Okay thats not really a big problem, but it does get on my nerves!

What are yours?

The lighting in my room is AWFUL! I live on base and they have like flourescent lights in here, it makes the light in my room almost yellow-ish:( I had to buy a couple of those corner lamps to make it a little brighter, but I still don't like the flourescent!

Default space problems..

I shouldn't complain,,I have a nice room ,but it is in the attic, so I have sloped walls..see my gallery...I would love to have straight walls..oh the storage I could create, but it works for now...
re the light issue..I bought an off brand of the ott light for natural light (wonder though if you can just buy the bulb) and it sheds "natural: true color light..it is a useful too.

I have NO lighting in my stampin space! My master BR is L-shaped and there's no overhead light in the bottom of the L! I have an OTT table lamp, but it's not enough to stamp at night.

Stephanie - do you have a closet you can convert?

I just want closed storage. Some of mine is, but the stuff I use ALL the time is out where I can get to it. Hence, when it's used and put back, it's always a little messier each time. Once a week, I go through and straighten up the disheveled mess.

I don't have a room either. My stuff is all over the house. I have to drag it out and then put it all up too. I would get so much more done if I had a room but hopefully we will move by the end of this year and that is my number 1 requirement for a new house -- 4 bedrooms!! I don't have any advice for you just wanted you to know I feel your pain and I am in the same boat (sometimes it seems as though everyone on splitcoast has a stamp room).

We are planning to move at the end of August and a room I can call my own is very high on my list!!

Oh I so know how you feel! my stuff is in the corner in the bedroom and my craft space is a table just a little bit smaller than my 24x18in mat:rolleyes: - still (like you) I'm in a light at the end of the tunnel scenario and that keeps me happy;)

I have been in the process of turning my guest room into a craft space for THREE YEARS now!!! I keep thinking I need to go thru the ebay stuff, ghosts of crafts past (started projects that I know I will never finish), too many toys that people have given my kids, baskets and other cutesy country crap that is no longer part of my decor.

I no longer feel that I can just go through this stuff - I need to do what they do on Mission Organization - GET IT ALL OUT OF THE ROOM! I'm moving it all into my bedroom so that I will be well aware that it is there. (Unlike now where it is behind a closed door!). I'm painting the room and putting back ONLY what I need. I am getting rid of the rest of the stuff. There is no sense putting it back if I haven't touched it for years and have no plans to use it.

So.....I bought 2 quarts of paint to audition the colors and am on my way!

Santa brought me an OTT light and a work surface. I am bound and determined to have this finished in 4 weeks!

Closets are perfect! I took the two big sliding doors off and hung up lace panels.

I have a built in countertop, shelving on the back wall and a 6' high 4' wide two door cabinet for the rest. Everything is in it's place and it works great!

I stamp at the kitchen table and then drag it back into my bedroom where I have some wire bins hung up impossibly high so DS doesn't decide to stamp with out asking. I hate finding black on my yellow pad.
Yup, cat hair is an issue for me! Kitty assistance seems mandatory but I've found bribery will get me everywhere with kittys, so out come the treats. It helps for a few minutes.
My ribbon is in the witness protection program, else it will turn out like the yarn they found....sleeping with the fishys.

AmberDawn change your flourescent light bulbs to daylight bulbs - you wouldn't regret it. It makes a huge difference. I have 2 double bulb flourescent lights and its like walking outside.

Samantha, I have a ribbon eating cat too!

I roll all my ribbon on old fashion clothes pins and stand then upright in snap boxes I get from Oriental Trading. Keeps them safe, clean dust free!

My lab eats EVERYTHING. Thankfully, the older she gets, the more she understands that if she doesnt behave she ends up in her kennel alone. A few years ago she ate an entire card. Glitter and all.

I haven't had too much disappear lately.

I have a desk in our bedroom that I use for work AND stamping. Half of my supplies are in filing cabinets and the rest is in a closet in my daughters bedroom! I can't wait until we move so I can have my own space again!

Don't worry...your time will come! Once my kids moved out, back in, and back out again, I made one of their bedrooms my craft room/den! Now there is only one spare bedroom and I am very stingy with that! Hehehehe! Before that I had to drag all of my stuff out from various places throughout the house and stamp in the dining room! For a while all of my stuff was in our bedroom. My DH goes to bed very early because he gets up before the sun to go to work so I could never get anything done. I know it's hard, especially seeing what everyone else has, but your time will come!

lol this is so something my cat would do. Whenever she is playing with something she knows she shouldn't and she sees me coming, she just grabs it in her mouth and runs off!!

I have a pretty great craft room, but...it has no heat! When the previous owners added on they must have decided that this room didn't need heat or a/c. The spring and fall are ok, but summer and winter are a bear. I got a small a/c this summer, but now that window can't close properly and the draft is brutal. I can only combat the chill with my space heater for so long. Maybe if I smile sweetly my husband won't mind my stuff taking over the family room.
