Default She's (Not) All That- Cause there is barely anything there!!!!

I know some people have fallen in love with this set...but I just don't understand why they had to make the women so dang skinny. The images would be lovely if they were just more realistic. I don't know. Maybe I'm making to much out of it, but I think pictures like that are just as hurtful to a woman's self image as magazine pictures that have been touched up to be perfect. A stamp like this, which shows the outline of an unhealthy female form, and makes her size look extremely elegant makes even being an average sized woman seem to large. Don't get me wrong- I'm about as far from a feminist as they come- but even this rubs me the wrong way.

Anyone out there feel the same way? If not, sorry and thank you for putting up with my venting.

I can understand why you are feeling that way. I feel that way about real life ads and commercials. But it doesn't seem to bother me much about stamp sets. I just won't buy if I don't like it. KWIM

If it was a realistic looking image maybe it would bother me if the girl was super skinny ... but it's more of a caricature of a woman. Nobody expects a woman to look like that. It's like getting upset over Wilma Flintstone or Betty Rubble... ;)

To each her own though ... I personally LOVE the set but it's prolly one of those "love it or hate it" kind of sets.

I'm on the "hate it" side. I like silhouettes but those remind me of "The Corpse Bride" I get what they were "trying" to do, but to me it didn't work!

.....but watch the SCS gallery and someone will do something spectacular with it anyway!

I am with the original poster...when I saw that set, I thought it was wrong...plus it made me just think that they were trying to put out a set to compete with the bellas, but didn't do a good enough job...imo

She's All That is in the Gallery now under the Occassions Mini category.

I don't think it's a copy of the Bellas at all. I saw some CUTE cards at Target with a similiar silouette of a girl look to them ... they were adorable. I don't think "She's All That" bears any resesmblance at all to Bellas....I think it's a pretty unique stamp set.

Corpse bride! That was my exact thought the first time I saw this set, but with each viewing, she's starting to grow on me.

 corpse bride - I think it is the "supermodel" hunch as well  Dang if I were that long and skinny I would be standing tall and proud not hunching over to get an even thinner/anorexic appearance...

I like Bellas, but I don't get these - so I guess it's the Bellatude that you just get the fun. These seem sulky.

I agree with als4him, I hate it. I don't even think they are stylish.

I am definately on the "not" side of this set. The figures are a bit gawky looking for me, dare I say creepy...

Also, I had a solid girl stamp once and the thing I didn't like about it is that the entire stamp was one color (OK, you can get a bit creative with markers, but who bothers?). It freaked me out to have the face, hair and clothes all the same color. I like outline women stamps (like Bellas) that I can color and customize with each card. Just a personal thing.

Having said that, I do like what Imastampin did with her bride card!

Several of the popular sets with females in them are excruciatingly thin. One of the reasons I won't let my daughters have Barbies is because it does affect their own view of themselves. I want them to aspire to healthy, not to the current trends. For this reason I won't buy any of the sets where the women look so thin they look bobble-headed with huge toothy smiles or where they are wearing dresses doing housework with their underweight overtall bodies represented.

I love the set. So elegant I think. I can't wait to get mine. It's coming in Monday (thought it'd be today!). I'm excited to see what people do with this set. I think I'll see some really awesome designs.

LOL, thankfully, they don't look ANYTHING like Bellas! My first thought when I saw these was like Corpse Bride..."Tim Burton!" I actually blurted that out!

Of course they are caricatures...that's kind of the point of the set. I can't wait to play with mine...and I'm deliberately holding off looking at the gallery until I've played some.

I have to say, though, that if the catalog carried nothing but sets that I love, a lot of you would get pretty darned upset! We all have different tastes. Diversity is a good thing, really! The only thing that bothers me is when people seem to take it all personally, as if somehow a stamp set is making a social, political, and PERSONAL statement about them.

If a set isn't to your liking, that's ok. Fortunately (maybe I should say "hopefully"), there are other sets in the catalog for you.

That's exactly it - I couldn't articulate what bugged me about this set, but you've nailed it! The Bellas are cute and fun, but these silhouettes don't look happy or anything. They look like they can barely hold themselves upright.

I hadn't considered the body image thing because they looked so totally unrealistic to me, but I definitely agree that if young girls see this and think it sets a standard of beauty or size, it's a major problem.

I agree, yay for choices!! What an absolutely boring world it would be if everyone had to always buy the same stuff. Bird stamps is something I can't get enough of and have seen posts with people saying thay are sick of them. It's a-okay to like what we like, even if no one else does.

I like the set in general - I just wish the bride was standing a little more upright. Her slumped posture makes her look like my 98 year old grandmother! The other stamps in the set are cute though. The thinness of the girls doesn't bother me at all.

I love coloring, so I tend to be drawn more towards line drawn sets, so this one probably won't go on my list.

They arent supposed to look like realistic women. They are an artistic interpretation.

Remember those old timey looking shadow silhouettes that people used to have done of their children? That is what, I beleive, they are trying to portray.

Now, I am NOT a fan of Bella stamps, they all look freaky to me:p

I love the Bellas...but these girls...they look like they are all hunched over. Bad posture! ;)

I dont think this is a set I will get. But there are SO many other great ones in the Mini, that's OK with me. I'm sure I will still spend lots of $$!

I don't care for them . . . their bad posture drives me nuts! Mentally, I've just lumped 'em in with the Bellas and other girl stamps -- don't care for any of them.

I kind of thought it was inspired by the success of the Bella's as well. I'm not that crazy about the skinny girl stamps either, but that's just because I just can't relate at all! I guess I just don't like people stamps very much - prefer animals, flowers, birds, etc.

I'm back and forth on this set...but as for them not being realistic, I think they are just girly and fun, not meant to be supermodel-ish at all. I think they are more of a shadow image, which even on "real" people can be stretched out and long looking...

If we're comparing the she's all that silhouettes vs. the bellas, then let's just be real.. Bellas don't exactly reflect the average woman's physique either. Thin slouched silhouettes vs. stick arms and big mouths -- I'd say it's about even. What it really comes down to is your personal art style preference.

Personally I love the she's all that shady ladies, but then again I also like Tim Burton and the Corpse Bride, so that would make sense. I can't wait to get my hands on this set!

Default she's all that - and less

As long as we're talking about women's physiques, check out the women in the MFT sets. Those stick like arms and huge boobs! I have a few of those sets and use them, but sometimes I can't look at them too long or I will start to think about how strange they look. I think that the new SU set looks like fashion illustrations from the 70's. ;)
