With the Lots of Thoughts set, how do you use only the top sentiment or just the bottom sentiment? Are you cutting apart the rubber to make each sentiment its own stamp? or masking it somehow? I'm not loving the look of all the three lines of sentiments together on each stamp....
thanks for opinions...

If you've already mounted the set, just lay the stamp face up then ink the line you want or use a marker. If you use the small ink spots it's fairly easy (sometimes I'll put a piece of paper over the rest of the stamp in case I get sloppy) but if I only have a large ink pad I use a dauber.
Since I prefer to be unmounted, if there's enough room between lines I'd cut them apart.
I haven't decided what I'm going to do with mine yet. :???: On one hand, I kinda like the look you get when you stamp all four sentiments at once... it's unique. However, I'm sure there will be times when I'll only want to use one of the four sentiments and in that case need to go through the extra trouble of using a marker and my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig... *sigh* I'm just not sure what to do.
But since you have already said that you're not particularly fond of the four-sentiment image, then just cut those babies apart! Mount them individually on Jenga blocks (they have a generic version at WalMart for around 3 bucks for about 35-40 blocks - so you'll have some to use for any future sets)! If you've already mounted the set, then you can try unmounting them, or use markers and the SAMJ to position the inked sentiment. HTH
I am planning on using square wooden dowels from home depot. You can buy 36" for $.89. I have two of these dowels with the plan of cutting them apart for my hostess set from the last catalog. I can't remember the name of the set at the moment. I will probably cut and mount both of these sets at the same time.
I'm going to cut mine apart (and leave them unmounted). Since I'll be using them with an acrylic block, if I separate each line with one cut (and don't do any extra trimming), I'll be able to fit them right back together on the block (like a puzzle) if I want to use them as one bigger stamp, with the option of using them separately as well. Hope that makes sense!
lots of ideas here. I guess I"ll just have to wait until I actually have it in my hands to decide what to do. thanks everyone.

You could always tape off the section you don't want to use, ink it up, peel off the tape and voila!
Hope this helps! I love that set.
This is what I'm doing with the So Many Sayings stamps. I've just ordered the complete set of markers, so not sure if I'll keep using the tape method. At any rate, I like keeping the stamp complete.
I tend to make cards and leave the sentiment area blank and stamp in the sentiment when I go to use it (unless of course it is an obvious birthday, anniversary etc., card and then I stamp it when I make it). Because of this, I don't want to deal with the SAMJ, tape etc so I think I'll cut mine and then mount two if the smaller greetings on one side since there are only 3 mountable sides on each block and obviously 4 sayings. I can then marker that side when I use it.
I cut mine apart, and I HATE IT!!!!! I wouldn't advise you to do it. The one-line sentiments, individually, are too small. Mine wiggle too much, and I haven't gotten a clean image yet.
I cut the 4 sentiments apart and put one on each side of the block (regular side @ top/opposite side @ bottom/one end @ top/opposite end @ bottom). I can use the larger image, but the small ones are out of the question.
I'm glad I waited on cutting apart So Many Sayings. I don't think I'm going to cut it apart now.
I will keep mine together so I can use them all together and they will be straight or singly with a marker. The best of both worlds IMHO!

I will be getting 2 of these sets. I am going to keep one whole and cut the other one apart. That way I will have them both ways as I cannot decide what would be better.
I just received this set free because I bought over $50 worth of SU. Yeah! I'm going to use it whole, with stamps, or use markers and individually color the part I want. Originally I was going to cut them up, but they are rather small.
