Default FYI-Clear Square Glass Ornaments at Michaels--50cents each!

Just went to Michaels yesterday to browse. I have stamped on round ornaments but quite frankly am seriously challenged at rolling the stamp properly across the surface. They had marked down all clear glass ornaments 50%. That made them 50 cents each. There were both 2" square ornaments AND 3" diameter M&M shapes ones. Both with flat enough surfaces within my reach to easily stamp on! So, if you are in need of Holiday ornaments, now is the time to head to Michaels.

Yes, they are in the seasonal isle--a big display actually at our store. Stazon works nicely. But I tend to use craft/pigment ink and emboss with clear and/or glittery EP. I also use deco/color pens to color with--but now sharpie has such a host of colors I may just use those.

I had posted this under Techniques but wanted to share here also. Another way to use those glass ornament -- Using Coluzzle(or compass and scissor) cut out a circle of acetate/window sheet/transparency the size of the diameter of the glass ornament you are working with. You could leave a tab at the top that will eventualy fit in the neck of the ornament. Stamp design with Stazon & color in with Sharpies. Roll window sheet up & place in ornament with tab at top. Will open to fit in the ornament. Add fake snow & a ribbon for a cute ornament!! The tab will keet sheet from rolling or getting somehow misplaced within the ornament!!

Oh, that is SOOOO cute!
If I wasn't moving next month, I'd be at M*chael's right now stocking up on those ornaments!
Thanks for sharing

Very FUN idea! Thanks so much for sharing this technique. I will definitely give it go. I always have plenty of acetate around for my shaker cards.

Great idea! I think my son could even do this with just a little Mommy help and give it to his teacher for Christmas.

One my stamp club members is going to let her 1rst grade Brownie make these. She will do all the cutting & stamping with Stazon first then let the girls color with Sharpies & use the glue pen & Dazzling Diamonds for Frosty's body. I'm sure they will love it!!!

50 cents per ornament? or is that only for the other shapes? Because I've gotten boxes of 12 regular size round ones from Ben Franklin for $3.99 in the past. It was definitely before the holidays cause I gave some as Christmas gifts to my DD's teachers.

Default it's not fair

it's really not fair that there isn't a Micheals within 100 miles of me! Would it be wrong to ask DH to quit, kids to change school and move the entire household so I can be closer to a Micheals?

Actually, it's 50% off. The sale was going on last week too. The ones I used were reg 79cents so that made them around 40cents per. They are like 2 3/4 inch around. They have bigger ones & ovals & square ones too.

Yes, it was a 50% off sale, all shapes were included. I am sure they sell boxes of clear round ornaments more cheaply from now until the Holiday season, but I was just so pleased to find the square and M&M shapes--for easier stamping. I was happy to pay 50cents each (down from $1). But now having seen that acetate trick, noted above, I will be willing to buy more round ornaments too!

Seems perfectly reasonable to me! In the long run, I'm sure it would be better financially and possibly even marriagely since the alternative is that he'll have to watch the kids for a long weekend once or twice a month while you go stay at a nice hotel near Michaels (and hopefully there'll be a couple of dollar stores nearby, too!)
