magic mesh
Is there any other place to get magic mesh or do I have to buy it from SU? It's a tad expensive if you want to use a bunch of it so I was hoping there was some other place to get it. Especially since I'd have a whole ton of pink and green mesh left over after I used all the brown I want to use. I looked at Michael's today but couldn't find any. I rarely go to that store, though, so maybe I just couldn't find it. I did find a wire mesh, though, so I think I would have found it if they carried it.
My Michaels has it, it is with the eyelets and other embellishments. We also have it at Hobby Lobby. Do you have any scrapbook stores in your area? If so they will have it. It has been around a few years.
In a pinch you can go to Home Depot or similar store. It is very similar to the mesh they use in taping walls in construction. It is self sticking and comes in white and for around 10 dollars you can get a lifetime supply for your whole neighborhood. Then you use your inks to make it any color you want.
You can buy drywall tape in the hardware section of any store. It is about $2.00 a roll for a bazillion yards of it. I swear I use it constantly and have TONS left! I have a bunch of examples with it in in my gallery: Blogs at Splitcoaststampers

we don't have a Hobby Lobby here but I've seen it mentioned on a bunch of posts so I think I might need to start lobbying for one! (no pun intended - at first...) I thought I saw somewhere else that the construction mesh didn't color very well, but it's certainly worth a try. I'll have to make a trip to Home Depot tomorrow after work. Thanks!

i have the drywall mesh and it's awesome but i can't seem to color it. the ink stays wet on it cuz it's fiberglass. someone said to heat set it, but when i tried that it still didn't dry.

Really? I have seen this suggested before but was skeptical. I am sure hubby can get me bunches.
I just saw floral wrap at Michael's that is similar and has metallic thread running through it. I thought one might run it through a Xyron...
This would explain at my last workshop why I had a heckler. Every time I talked about the magic mesh on the make and take project she said, "You mean the drywall tape!" I didn't sell any magic mesh at all! I wish I had seen this before I wasted my time trying to sell it at my workshop.

thanks
Thanks for the tip on the drywall tape. I went to Lowes and bought some today. It was $4.00 a roll for 150 feet of it! Match that SU magic mesh! It says self adhesive and I got it in white and yellow. (looks like yoyo yellow!). I am excited to use it, because at the price it is in the catty, I wouldn't have used it. Of course I can't demo with it, but I can use it.
I just colored my " dry wall tape" Today with a purple pallette pad. I gently heat set it and it was awesome. I'm going to try stazon tomorrow and see how that works I'll let you know.

Loraine's great. She offers free shipping in the continental US and her prices are good. She sells the magic mesh individually so you don't have to commit to a color set.
If you use her mention that you heard of Scrappy Dreams through me.
I color the tape all the time. I lay it out on wax paper (to keep the sticky) and then color with StazOn or I use Sharpie...both work great for me...and take only a few minutes to dry to the touch. They you can peel if off of the wax paper and apply to your project.
What a neat idea, I plan to try this out. I looked at your card gallery where you used this and I cannot tell it is not Magic Mesh. Thanks for the suggestion!
