I've been thinking about joining the Fan Club here at SCS. However, my only reason would be for instant uploads. That's mostly because I don't really know anything about the Dirty Dozen and whatever else is offered. So, if your a Fan Club member could you please explain some of the other perks to me? I really would appreciate it. ;)
I just joined a day ago. I also debated. I chose the 6 mo membership to decide if it would be worth it to me or not. I can say that after joining the artwork & ideas that the Dirty Dozen displays is phenomenal! I wish I had joined sooner.
Instant uploads and the warm fuzzies that come from knowing you're helping to support the site might just be enough
You also get Fan Club exclusive challenges to play with each month and the DD samples around those themes. The DD also supply patterns, templates and 'how tos' that are only available in the Fan Club part of the forum.
A better question might be "why shouldn't you?"
Even without access to the DD galleries or the instant uploads (which don't matter to me since I don't have a gallery) just knowing I help support a site which gives so much support/inspiration to me would be enough for me.
I cancelled my subscription to a couple of stamping magazines and have truly never missed them - this site does everything a magazine does and then some. Join, join, join - you won't regret it!!
I appreciate the instant uploads and access to the fan club galleries, but my biggest reason is to support my favorite site!
A year is only, what, 27.00? That's less than the last two cardmaking magazines I bought at Michaels. That gets me more projects and templates than I could ever look at, endless advice, tips, entertainment, and a place to get questions answered 24 hours per day! To say it's a bargain would be an understatement!
Geez...you ladies should get some kick back from SCS...I just checked out this thread b/c I didn't know anything about the fan club really (or never thought to find out about it) and now I'm going to see how to sign up today!
Thanks for helping me spend some money gals...but I'm sure it'll be worth it!

I hadn't really thought about how much money I blow on other stuff and how this pales in comparison. Thanks for pointing that out.:p
I joined the fan club about 30 minutes ago and have been in heaven looking at the fan club gallery. OMG are these cards incredible! I also agree that supporting this site is important since we are all benefiting on so many levels - inspiration and a place to gather with people who share our passion.
You may not know, but once you join you have access not only to the current awesome DD's art but to all the past DD's fabulous creations - the entire DD files are yours. And as was mentioned before, the art there is awesome - tons of talent! Besides an art gallery, there is also a Fan Club section of the forum with more patterns, templates and recipes plus a section where you can create along with the DDs.
But most important for me is that for the price of a magazine subscription, you support this fantastic site and help keep it running. There's so much time and expense that goes into running a site as large as this. I'm glad to see SCS large enough to get advertising income now but still, this is a large undertaking, I'd miss SCS if it should ever have to close. And what magazine subscriptions give you daily inspiration, almost instant answers to your questions, tutorials, downloads, patterns, a way to connect with others who share your crafting passion plus 'publish' everyone's artwork as well? Plus, we don't have to find room to store piles of issues, either. Such a deal! :-)

It's that quick? You already have access? If so, I"ll go get the credit card.
In all honesty, I would pay $100.00 a year if I had to. This place is phenomenal in every way, with endless possibilities for sharing and learning. I have made some wonderful friends here, who just happen to have a passion for the same craft that I love. I'm pretty much logged in 24/7, checking different forums, message boards, announcements, galleries, etc. etc. etc. I've never been to a site as great as this one, and I've deleted every link to other sites that I'd visited in the past---just don't need them any longer. I really don't think there's anything else out there that even comes close to SCS.
Just my humble ramblings... :-)

Your humble ramblings are great praise and I'm convinced.
My Fan Club subscription expired and I didn't realize it because I didn't check my email (they notify you) and I flipped out, freaked out, went berserk! I was down for two days, the worse two days of my life! Really, I am dead serious here. But after I paid my dues, Jenn Balcer got me back up and running quickly! (She's my best friend ever because of that!)
Anyway my advice to you is Join!!! You will not be disappointed....plus think about life without SCS.....that is incentive enough....money to a wonderful cause!!!!
I joined the fan club to support the cost of this site. It is such a great resource and it costs a lot of money to maintain this sort of site. So I have no problem paying an annual fee regardless of what I get out of it. Luckily SCS does offer perks for joining. The dirty dozen are amazing. So much talent and worth so much more than the annual membership. I also cut out all but one magazine subscription because I get more ideas and inspiration here than in the magazines. And SCS doesn't clutter my room with magazines. Although being on here does enable me to buy stuff I otherwise would have never known about, and therefore my room is cluttered with other stuff. If you join, you won't regret it. Not only do you get instant uploads, but also uploads on Sundays are allowed for members.
I can't figure out how to join. I don't have a PayPal so do I have to send a check? I'd gladly enter my credit card number somewhere if I could find the right screen.
I would gladly pay the registration fee every month for all that I gain from this site. I have made some of the best friends of my life here and have learned everything I know about stamping, painting and card design here.

shhhh..don't give them any ideas!!!
Seriously, I joined the fan club to support the site that supports my habit!
It is totally worth it for that alone...but the instant uploads and dirty dozen gallery are VERY NICE extras!
Here's my humble oppinion on reasons why you (and everyone) should join the FC: You should join the fan club because it costs money to keep this website operating in the superb fashion that it does! The FC member cost is not even a dime a day (more like 8 1/2 cents)! Well worth it!

Thanks to everyone for all the info you have provided. I've been browsing the galleries of some of the dirty dozen and I have one last question. I've seen lots of cards and I like to make cards but I go through phases and right now I am really focused on my scrapbooking. So, are there challenges and inspiration for scrapbooking or does this group focus mainly on cards?
I agree, love the site! I tried to sign up, primarily to support something I love but couldn't figure out how to do it without paypal. I'll break out my checkbook one of these days. It doesn't see daylight often with the convenience of credit cards and ATM cards. I'm going to sign my sister up too! Scary thing is, I already spend way too much time on it, will I spend more when I can look at DD galleries?

I haven't bought a single crafting magazine in almost 3 years, so the fee definitely pays for itself. Since I don't bother to scan or photograph the cards I make, I have no need for a gallery or instant uploads. I just joined to help support the site financially. It's gotten to where there'd be a huge hole in my life without the instant access to all the ideas and information.

You can pay through PayPal without being a member. Once you get to the PayPal screen, click "Continue" under the heading "Don't have a PayPal account?"
That should do the trick. You can also send a check to SCS. Click the "HERE" in my signature block to go to the Fan Club information page. You can also access the FC page from SCS's homepage.

Joined yesterday via paypal. I've been a bit busy this weekend running here and there, but, what I've been able to see is fabulous! I too love this sight, have learned so much, that I've been able to pass on really good tips and hints to my demo. She's amazed by my knowledge, I always give scs the credit for anything I've picked up here. Hoping she'll get on more and eventually become a fc member. I'd hate to see this wonderful sight not be running because of funding Thanks to everyone involved!!

I joined to keep SCS going and growing. They are the crack cocaine of my life....
HA! My friend and I both call it "Mommy Crack"! Good to know others refer to it almost the same way!
Just like with any other consumer based product or service, you show your support of something with your dollar. As a consumer, that's the most important thing you have to offer. Not only do I want to make sure they can continue to keep this MASSIVE undertaking open and operational, I want them to grow and at some point PROSPER because of all they've given to us! Make your money count and what better place to send it than to support a site none of us could do without!
It's official I joined the FanClub. Everyone was right the artwork is beautiful but, much to my disappointment it's pretty much all cards. And if it's not they haven't bothered to make a category for scrapbooking. Are there not any scrapbookers out there that would fit the qualifications of the dirty dozen or is there just not an interest? I'm a card maker. Just not a huge focus for me right now. Oh well, I don't mind supporting the site. Someone's got to do it.
Well, you convinced me as well. I just signed up for 6 months to try it out. How do you know it's become active? Do they send you an email or something?
Jane,
Just scroll down on the forums page until you see FanClub. You can access from there. They send an email but mine was blank. As soon as I paid I came back to splitcoast and it was good to go.

I am sorry you found the DD galleries to be disappointing; we will make note of the desire to see more scrapbooking projects featured.
Each month, the DD are given a set of parameters or "theme" to focus on, and they are at liberty to create whatever projects they wish, as long as they are in keeping with the parameters.
I have observed, in many cases (not all, of course, but, I would venture to say "many" or even "most"), that art-stampers predominantly enjoy card and gift/3D project making, which could account for the lack of scrapbooking projects.
When I stop to consider which of the DD have also enjoyed combining stamping with scrapbooking Jenn Balcer, Beate Johns, and Sharon Harnist are the art-stampers that first popped into my head.
As a Fan Club Member, if you visit their galleries, their DD exclusive projects will also appear on your screen.

Thanks for the info. I will check out the members galleries you listed above. I also didn't realize that the focus of the DD was stamping. That explains quite a bit. The cards the DD creates are gorgeous and I could only aspire to be so talented. I'm aware of the scrapbooking forums and galleries and I'm subscribed to quite a few threads in those forums. So many people were saying that Splitcoast and the FanClub had replaced their need for their magazine subscriptions and I took that to mean that scrapbooking magazines were included in that statement. Since I'm very familiar with the scrapbooking forums I took that to mean there must be something fabulous in the FanClub for scrapbookers. No biggie. Just not going to rush off and cancel any scrapbooking magazine subscription just yet. I would hope that in time as this site continues to grow with it's member companies and such, there will be a need for a Scrapbooking DD. For now, I got my instant uploads and my magazines and that's good enough for me. ;)
