Well I look at it this way, if the room is messy I have been playing! If the room is clean - then I have been cleaning with no playing! :-) It's all good just gotta find that balance between the two extremes for me anyway!
I just "got" my craft room over Labor Day, and it's still in the process of being organized as I am in the middle of unmounting. As that will free up more space I hope to get my paper out of drawers and onto the shelves so I can see it. But in the meantime I have made about 50 cards during January which includes my first swap! But then I bought a table top Tonic at Archiver's last weekend and I need to make space for that. So I guess I'm half and half? Or is it an evolving process as we acquire and remove items?

Just wondering, if you are like me? Do you spend more time organizing and decorating your stamping space than actually stamping:rolleyes:
Heather.....could you please come and spend a few days with me. I can't seem to take the time to organize 'cause all I want to do is stamp. Sounds like you and I could make a great pair.
I used to spend more time organizing than playing but finally gave up as it wouldn't take long to get all messed up again. So . . . now . . . . I only organize when I've run out of play room LOL

For me, it's been quite a long time since I sat down to make cards or scrapbook and I am really wanting/needing to get started again. I think organizing/decorating and moving my stuff around (to make it easier for me to work, of course), is a bit of an avoidance technique...since it has been so long since I have actually made something...I think I have forgotten how to do it...sooo sad!!!
I find the organization is like laundary, it's never done. I scored some good sales yeaterday at my local LSS. 40% off Creative Imaginations & buy 2 stamps get one free. So I had to reorg when I got home. (before DH got home).
Organizing, but not by choice! I am not organized by nature, and it really shows in my craft room! After being displaced from it for several months, and then having it remodeled and ending up with LESS square footage in my room, I am constantly struggling with where to put stuff! DH's idea would be to just back the truck up to the window and take it all to the dump...
Yes, this is me at times, too! I've "made" myself a craft room by taking over a corner of our family room. I have a desk, two tables, and a cabinet that are arranged in kind of a square pattern. Now, if I could just find a way to move all the toys out of the playroom w/noone noticing...

I get like that too. That's why I started this thread. Get going girl, upload some stuff. I've been stamping again after months of procrastination. You can too.
I have to laugh ...
I spend more time on SCS cruising for ideas and sharing ...
Then I organize and hopefully have time to create. You really know that you have not used your time wisely when you spend 10 hours and come up with five cards. That is good for me!
I am thrilled I had to clean the whole house and that included the stamp room, and once it was all clean I felt the creative juices flow! I love when it's that kind of clean cause then I have fun messing it up again (although today I was good I left it nice and clean)

There's this concept I read about in Feng Shui where they talk about clutter being "negative energy" and I certainly experience that. Currently my stamp area is undergoing a major re-org because I'm unmounting all my non-SU stamps and putting them in CD folders. I can't bring myself to do any creating while this mess exists. I found it interesting that so many folks talked about not being able to be creative with a mess on their hands. Hmmm!
I can't stand for my room to be unorganized so I know I spend way more time organizing than stamping. Today is a great exampe: I ordered a set of nesties a month ago. Finally got them yesterday and what am I doing today? I needed to make labels for the cd cases that I am storing them in so I decided to make labels for everything else that needs labeled in my room. Also made labels for future nesties purchases. Ugh!! I am finally done as much as I can stand. After I get my desk cleaned off, I may be able to start playing.
P.S. Every so often I take a look around and think, "Is there a better way to store and organize my room?" So, that takes up a day or so.
This has definitely been the case for me this week! I worked on organizing all my paper by color, and making labels for the photo boxes I use for all my misc supplies. But I will be stampin' tonight!
What a fun thread! I have never really thought about it, but I DEFINITELY spend a lot of time organizing my stamping stuff! I LOVE LOVE LOVE labeling things. Boy, I swear, I am psycho. ;-) j/k
I have the SU! Stampin' Store caddy thingy (can't remember if that is the actual name) and of course when I got it I got a bunch of the containers to go with! I am funny about it because I insist on downgrading sizes! I try to get the embellishments to fit in the smallest size possible. And, I take all my kits and divide them up too (Pretties kit and my recent Hodgepodge Hardware purchase). So, after doing that I went and bought labels, printed them out, labeled my containers. Makes my life SO easy! And, a while back when I started collecting the SU! color family ink pads, I didnt want to buy the SU! ones, for some reason, so I made my own clear labels. I have the remaining ink pads coming to me in a couple days, and I have labels all ready for them! In fact, every embellishment in the catalog has a printed label for it right now, even if I dont own it! lol. :-D
I think I have to be a bit more organized with such a tiny space to work with. I am always changing the layout too.
But I love organizing my personal things. Even as a kid I did this. We used to go school supply shopping and I would lay everything out, admire it, put all the stuff in the the binders, sharpen the pencils, etc. lol. And guess what? Apparently this is a genetic trait, because my almost 2 year old is JUST LIKE ME. lol. I have pictures of her things lined up neatly on the coffee table, chairs, any surface really. Too darn cute.
Ok, rambled on enough! Thanks for the fun thread!
Oh, and I should say I still find plenty of time to stamp! I have a feeling I spend less time doing that and more time organizing however. :-D
