I bought something a while ago, she never cashed the check and I never got my stuff. Anyone have this happen to them??? She pm'd me and said she got my check and was going to mail my package. She hasn't posted anything for 2 wks now.
I have only bought a few times but always been good. Maybe something is going on with her? Give it a little more time and see if maybe she is sick or something.
I was thinking the same thing - I know at least one lady who sells is undergoing cancer treatments out of town and she still sent mine promptly - but perhaps the person is ill or called out of town suddenly. Have you tried to pm her?
I agree with the other posters' recommendations -- I know that I've gone weeks without posting on SCS for a variety of reasons! If you don't get a satisfactory response in the next few days or the package doesn't show up, the names of the BST mods are listed at the bottom of the main page for that forum. Hope you hear from her soon!

I got burned here. I sent the check, had it cashed, never saw the merchandise, emailed with no reply, and never saw a post from her again. I hope that doesn't happen to you. Good luck!
Should we have a sticky in the B/S/T forum about poster whom people have had negative experiences with? When you post in the ISO forum and someone PM's you, they could really be anyone, and a sticky would be helpful to let people know who might be unscrupulous.
With that said, I haven't had a bad experience here . . . yet. Crossing fingers that it never happens to me!

Sometimes life gets in the way -- I have done numerous trades on here and have not had a problem until recently. I contacted a mod about it and got my stuff -- it was a health issue with my person being in the hospital. She made good on her promise after a month. If you need help, contact one of the moderators and make sure you keep copies of PMs you rec'd and sent.
Contact a mod with the B/S/T boards. they should be able to help you.

I think you should have some kind of list so people know who not to buy from. I'm always leary about buying from someone who has so few posts anyone. That's just my opinion.

If you never got a something that you paid for, please contact a mod. I have seen several SCS members that did this and once they got involved, the set was mailed. Only 2 instances I have seen that went all the way to the police visiting the seller, then the set were mailed. It is very illegal to sell something on the internet and then not ship the item. It is taken very seriously. PLEASE contact a MOD if you are having problems. They can help you.

Once the mods know about this, they do stop them from selling if need be.
How do the mods know if they're selling? Usually I post in the ISO forum and then someone PMs me. Can the mods track that? Or do they just ban the person entirely? I guess people could just create a new ID, but I try to only buy from people who've been here a while.
Yes, please contact a BST moderator. They work *very* hard behind the scenes to help get stuff where it needs to be. You can find a listing of BST moderators at the bottom of each BST forum.
We've looked into having a feedback system for BST in the past and overwhelmingly, BST users wanted our BST forums to remain as-is. . . buyer beware.

We have banned a few people entirely for not holding up their part of the deal. Keep all of your correspondence! If something happens, send the information along. Names, addresses, etc. are important, and will help us to help you.
I just wanted to add that I have had only positive experiences, both here and on ebay. Give her a few more days, just in case she is going through some kind of family crisis, etc. Then I would contact a mod with all your information.

I have bought, sold or traded at least 30 plus times on SCS! Only one time did I have a problem, the seller had had a serious car accident and had been hospitalized for a long time, before she got all her packages sent off. I felt really bad about complaining when I heard about her plight. I believe another SCS member actually helped her mail all the packages while she rehabilitated, (this happened several years ago so my memory is fuzzy!) All the rest have been extremely good transactions!
I have gotten burned at least three times on eBay and wasn't able to recover my money or what I bought.

Yes, sorta...I bought some stamps from my demonstrator one time and wrote her a check. I was wondering why she hadnt cashed the check in over 4 months. Then finally she did cash it, but the checked bounced due to us changing banks. I explained to her that was has happened and was embarrassed at the same time..she said that she had lost the check in her pile on her table due to remodeling..ahhh, hello..wouldnt you want it in your purse. Anyhow, I owed her the money in cash and have my supplies. Its just frustrating because I dont write bad checks. It bugged to pieces why she waiting forever to cash it.
I've also experienced bad business on EBAY, that is why I look closely at their ratings. Bought, paid, and never received my stuff.
I feel for you in your case. That would drive me crazy.
Good luck.

Meluvstampin, You know, that's interesting that you say that because I've been burned along with several other people by a person on Ebay and I didn't feel Ebay really cared all that much.

Oh my gosh! I don't know how to post an original post by:
I thought I followed the correct instructions. Anyone know how to do that?
Anyway, meluvstampin, I was referring to your quote about being illegal to sell something on the internet and then not follow through. It just didn't seem like Ebay did anything. They said "we'll look into it" and the lady that sold to a bunch of us quit her account and so we were just out. I only lost $20 but I could have used the money for something else.

there used to be a thread where people wrote about good trades... i was looking for it this week however, and couldn't find it.
I wish we could make a sticky in the BST forums for "advice" about transactions. I follow these guidelines for myself, and I have had nothing but great experiences.
1. I look at the person's post count...if it's low, I check to see how long she has been a member and whether or not she is an SU demo.
2. When purchasing, I only like to use paypal.
3. When I can, I try to post a positive comment in the thread after I have had a good transaction. I think it eases other people's minds to know that this person is honest.
4. If the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is!!

There are places to contact if it happens to you. Your local police station is one of them. They can then help contact the ploice in the sellers area. There are also internet fraud places of where to file complaints.
Ebay itself only gets involved if it is within their guidlines. Even if they do not get involved, there are still things the buyer can do about it to try to correct the situation.

Hopefully your situation will work out and you will get your things. Up to now, I've been very fortunate and have never had any problems with buying or trading anything on the BST forum here (and unfortunately...I do more buying than I should). I am careful and if the person is new to the boards or just has a few posts, then I don't do business with them. Let us know how it ends up!

hobbywoman--
you said she hasn't cashed your check yet, so IMO it could be a legitimate emergency on her end why you haven't heard anything yet. I would pm the person to see if everything is ok.
Personally I have never bought anything on the bst lists here, but have sold a few items or directed an ISO lister to someone who actually had what they were looking for... that said, if and when I do decide to buy something, I will insist on trading contact info, phone number as well as mailing address, and actually call the person to make sure that is their number. That way I at least have their number if for whatever reason they don't get online for a while....
but that's just me... perhaps that can be a new BST requirement? I think it would make everyone a bit more accountable if they had to provide more contact info....
I agree that if she hasn't cashed your check, its very likely a legitimate emergency.
This has gotten me to thinking--if an accident or illness or other legitimate emergency came up with me while I had a transaction pending, the other party would be thinking that I'm irresponsible. My husband knows that I do transactions here, but he has NO clue about the whens and whats. If it were a stressful or tragic emergency that left something hanging, he probably wouldn't check emails for awhile.
I've lost track of the number of transactions I've had here--well over 30--and every one has gone smoothly. I hope yours gets resolved and that the other party is ok.

Question - how can you check to see when a person last made a posting?
I know I have done over 50 trades on scs, and bought..and bought..and bought....(LOL) and out of all of them, I have only had 2 go bad. I have to say though there is much more good on scs than bad. I also wanted to ad, (in my case), number of posts or being a demonstrator didn't matter because in the 2 transactions that went bad for me their post was in the 1000's and they was both demonstrators. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.((smiles))
Question - how can you check to see when a person last made a posting?
This is very easy! You click on their Username and it takes you to their profile. On the far right top, it tells you how long ago they were on SCS. Right at this moment, your last activity was 30 minutes ago! Then, right underneath their user name there is a topic you can click "Find all posts by pyinfrisco," click on this and it shows you all the most current posts by that person (you can also check on all threads started by each person, right underneath the number of posts.) For you, the above post was your last post! Try it out with my username and see how it works!
BTW, I am originally from Texas, too! Welcome to SCS!

Wow, I never knew that was there. Thanks for the answer to my question Laurie.
